I picked up golf during COVID. I went on and off because I couldn't get the swing down. But I've resumed and gotten a little bit better this year. I'm glad I stumbled on this video because I was debating on the Callaway Edge or the Lazarus. The deciding factor was to get the Callaways at Costco because I just got my rewards in the mail. Can't wait to try them out at the range and hit a couple of slices😂.
The Callaways have lots of offset which gives u a little more time to square the face, so hopefully you wont hit as many slices. Hope you enjoy the clubs. Thanks for watching. 👍
Here's another question for you. For a beginner golfer to pick up a GI set or a set of blades? Back in the day blades were very common to learn on and from personal experience I think blades actually make you a better ball striker/golfer where GIs are more of a bandaid. Thoughts?
Thats a great question. Personally I think beginners should cut themselves a break and play something with an adequate amount of forgiveness. The game is about fun and its hard to have fun when you have blades that require a very precise strike for optimal results. I also have watched many follow that train of thought and the vast majority of them are still poor ball strikers. Blades, cavity backs, or hybrids, only way to get better is to practice proper technique. So, I say take all the help you can get! Thanks for watching. 👍
Iv been golfing for 4 years. I played my first year with a 20 year old set of hand me down clubs.. I was greatful someone had a free set of clubs for me to use, but a year later I was ready for some newer clubs of my own. Ended up with the 2021 Callaway Edge set with the regular flex graphite shafts and I absolutely love them compared to what I had been using. The set is amazing for the price but it lacks a complete set of wedges. I got a set of the Lazrus wedges on Amazon and they complimented the Edge set really nicely for the low cost. So now I have a 44° 52° 54° 56° and 60°. After a few years of playing, I realized the differences between nice grips and not so nice grips. The grips that come on the Edge set are not so nice (neither are the ones on the Lazrus wedges)... but absolutely fine for a beginner, so iv upgraded all my grips this past year. I also replaced the 3 wood with a Ping G410 3 Hybrid as I struggle to hit the 3 wood consistently and added a Ping G 4 iron as an in-between for the 6 iron and 5 hybrid as I am not really a distance hitter and the 5 hybrid flys far!
Appreciate the review. Earned a sub. A suggestion for future videos would be to suggest what type of player this would be good for (i.e., slow swingers, fast swingers, normal, etc.). I know the callaways have a graphite option, which (from my understanding) is ideal for older players or slower swingers.
I always try to convey who their for in my videos. I will try to do a better job of conveying that in future videos. Thanks for the feedback, the subscription, and watching the video. 👍
Yes sir!! Please report back and let us know what you think of them. I think you’re gonna be pleasantly surprised by the quality and price! Thanks for watching. 👍
I’m just getting back into golf, do you think that the edge clubs are good for improving my high handicap game but also good enough that I won’t grow out of them immediately
Thats a great question!! I definitely recommend them for high handicap golfers and I don’t see any reason you would outgrow them quickly. A very good friend of mine started as a beginner with them and he still enjoys gaming them even though he is shooting 90 or a smidge less. You’re definitely not going to outgrow them quickly in my humble opinion.
those callaway edges are identical (besides branding) to my old x2 hot irons.. great clubs i learnt the game with them only recently went to takomo 101s but sometimes i miss the callaways
16:56 I ordered the 8pcs set from lazarus up to Canada a few days ago. Driver 6-PW blade putter and I had them take out the wedge and substitute for hybrid 5. Who does that when you're buying sets. Great customer service. I wish I would of seen your page before I made my purchase. But I still would have went with lazarus. Great video cheers.
This is the second video I've watched of yours and I just loved this review. I could smell the grass on the iron.. I will watch your next video but won't try for the Travel Bag as shipping costs to UK will screw things for you. Tommy Fleetwood for the Masters⛳
Such kind words! Thanks so much my friend. And hopefully I can get this channel monetized soon and then I can handle shipping to the UK. Thanks for watching and I’m really glad you enjoyed the video. And yes… Tommy Fleetwood winning the Masters would really be something! 👍
To me this is the most wonderful time of the year, Masters Week. I have been 3 times to the Masters and I got to go the ladies amateur final day a couple years ago.
@@bestgolfnoob I only live about 90 miles or so north of Augusta. Used to date a lady who lived there. She got tickets for the first 3 of the ladies tournaments. Of course 2020 got canceled and 2021 was only for family members so 2022 she gave me her tickets since she used to rent her house out for the week. Her house was a mile west of the course. That whole area is so different from the first time I went back in 2005 to now. Money talks. And they got lots of it. They have purchased all of the land across from the course and to the west of it. Rumors are they are not done on the west side. And of course there is that one house that the couple refuse to sell. Once they pass on though the kids have said they will sell it to Augusta National. It is right on the north side of the parking area. But the course is just so much better in person than on tv. Immaculate is the best way to describe the grounds. And of course the gift shop is like a dream world. Doesn't take long to drop 500 bucks in it..
Both of these clubs are cast. Cast vs forged will come down to the individual golfers preference for the most part. Generally speaking tho, cast clubs usually offer more forgiveness and forged clubs are usually preferred by better players. Thanks for watching 👍
Just picked up the Edge set a couple of days ago based on this recommendation. LOVE THEM SO FAR! Looking to pickup the Lazrus wedge set at some point. Came for the Edge vs Lazrus review, stayed for the Sanderson collection in the back. Definitely Subscribed Journey before destination!
About a year ago I bought the 2 and 3 iron just to see who good they are plus they were cheap. Took them out of the wrapper and the back of the 3 iron fell off.. the so called cavity back has a sticker in it. Once that sticker came off it looked just like all the other irons from different offerings in the same price range. Huge cavity back that is smooth. I guess I could take them out and hit them. But since that happened they have resided in one of my golf bags. I just kind of worry about that sticker flying off. So I have no reference as to how good they feel but as they say you get what you pay for.
I have heard murmurings of that happening and its unfortunate. That being said, Ping has had custom tuning ports fall off before and some other high end brands have suffered some quality defects as well. BIG difference for me is I completely believe if you reached out to Lazrus golf, they would do whatever it takes to remedy the issue. I also have scrubbed, cleaned, and wiggled with the sticker/cavity back and I have been unable to dislodge it. And while I don’t argue some of the more expensive brands and models are of better quality, many of them cost two to three times as much. For a budget set I have been impressed. Time will tell how they fare. Thanks for watching 👍
@@bestgolfnoob I just stuck it back on and it seems to have stayed. I guess I could take them out and hit them. I play one length irons and this purchase was because I was curious. That cavity is huge though without the sticker. I love club reviews anyway so keep it up. Yours was the first where i saw a comparison with these irons. I play one length irons, once I got hooked on them there is no going back. Now that the weather is getting warmer here in upstate South Carolina I might take them out and give them a go. At my age heat makes a difference with the back that I have had fused. Cold weather sucks lol.. thanks again for the review..
So graphite is made of graphite instead of traditional steel. Both steel and graphite shafts come in multiple flexes to match a players tempo and swing speed. Every golfers swing speed and tempo are different so matching the right shaft flex and material can help golfers get more out of their game.
@@Tenncup76 indeed, the top line is pretty thick, tho for some reason it doesn’t bother me as much as the top line on many other super game improvement irons. Id really prefer a much thinner top line, but these clubs are so good, its just something Im learning to live with. Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching. 👍
I would love to bring that to you but Im still a pretty small fish in a big pond so I currently don’t have access to Takomo clubs at the moment. That being said, Im still pretty familiar with the Takomo irons. The original Takomo 101 would be most similar for sure. The Takomo sets are little more premium and have better fitting options during order. I honestly suspect the Lazrus will be more forgiving and quite a bit less expensive. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching 👍
@michaelhawkins6149 Please forgive me if you read my first reply. Haven’t had my coffee yet and got confused as to which video u watched. Very long answer so please bare with me. Full disclosure I have not hit the 524s. That being said I am very familiar with them. The 524 irons imho are superior to both the Callaway Edge and the Lazrus set. Better looks, feel, and forgiveness. That being said the Callaway and Lazrus are both very good and a bit cheaper. The 524s however are very similar to the Adams Idea irons I featured in several videos on my channel. If you’re looking the 524s please watch the videos on the Adams Idea set as they are very similar and a much better value! The Adams Idea as of today are a full $200 cheaper then the 524s! I also prefer the KBS shafts in the Adams over the True Temper Elevate in the 524s. Similar weight and profile but for my money the KBS is superior. I really hope this helps
