- Harry has struggled with his health over the years, and sometimes it's more noticeable than others. From 2012 to 2021, you can see him coughing, wheezing, short of breath, and losing his voice during both speeches and performances.

As a mom of two asthmatic professional athletes watching him try to preform makes me love him even more. Trying to sing and not let people know. It breaks my heart how he was pushed by his management with no concern of his health. Makes me as a mom, sick.
Hope your sons are doing well. It does make ppl so mad to see how they were treated in the 1D days. He does an amazing job of not showing his struggles.
I think in the beginning of 1D, he hadn't really figured out/been taught how to sing around his breathing issues. Now he's much better at it.
Definitely. He had to get conditioned to be able to move and sing at the same time. He has improved significantly with his entertaining skills.
He always pushed his voice where his breath to give a nice show. His voice at the end of One Direction sounded pretty tired as well as his health, with the dates close to his current tour I hope he puts his health and wellbeing first.
Yes, he was completely spent at the end of 1D. He keeps adding shows to his current tour, so I hope he knows what he’s doing.
@@MyMindMood Yes at the end he looked really exhausted and it was clear that he was permanently ill. For his current tour I think his team is careful (I hope) not to overwork him, because even if he seems to be paying a little more attention to his health I think he will always want to please his fans before him

Even though he was fighting all these health issues he still managed to pull through! That shows true endurance. But it really does break my heart to see him like this I hope his asthma gets better in the future!

Ya that seems to be case and I’m really glad because I’m sure no one enjoys watching him go through such painful events. And im sure he doesn’t enjoy it either especially with the added pressure of everyone counting on him to give an amazing performance. Though it does seem that he still has a few breathing and coughing issues on stage more recently but yeah it’s much less common which is good.
I don’t know how Harry sings so well with asthma ... sometimes I can barely talk!😽

Poor Harry I feel So Bad for him. You could tell during his concerts something was wrong with his breathing. I noticed it when I started watching videos of 1D and other videos of him. So Sad.

The SNL shocked me. Theirs no way that it was nerves with how confident he’s become. I saw his hands shake and it breaks my heart. I’ve become more in tune to his breathing sounds so I’ve noticed when he’s struggling even though it’s hard to hear. HQ uploaded the LNT bit of the New York ONO and all I can hear is him wheezing everytime before he sings, I can’t even watch it. 😭
Agree with the SNL… in another comment on here we found the spot where we think he was having trouble. Can you share the link to the ONO? I need to remake that video.

The boys have said they were under intense pressure in the first clip, and Harry in particular was incredibly nervous about his solo, specifically about having the breath for it. (A video where they talk about it, in case you haven’t seen: ua-cam.com/video/ltwUtWFWAlA/v-deo.html) It wouldn’t surprise me at all if his asthma played a role, both in his pre-show anxiety and his performance.
The SNL one is really shocking to me because no way that was nerves. Harry hosted that night and WS was his second song, so late in the show. I wonder when/how his asthma crept in. I might have to look up his sketch before this…

Oh my goodness!! I have yet to watch the documentaries from 1D and Harry solo. This broke my heart 💔😢 Poor kids were so nervous and they were not conditioned for performances like that yet. They required them to work out regularly after that. I’m so glad Harry is a superstar now ⭐️🤩 Let me know if you find anything from SNL - I agree that it couldn’t have been nerves.
@@MyMindMood I didn't know they were required to work out after their early performances. It makes sense but it also makes me really sad that they were put in these positions to begin with, with so little support. One reason I love these videos you put together is because they really, really drive home how hard Harry (and the other boys, but we're talking about Harry now) had to work to be successful.
@@MyMindMood I believe this is the SNL sketch just before WS: ua-cam.com/video/93-EXp5PbOA/v-deo.html. Harry seems fine in it to me? But you have much better eyes! He does go off stage early in the sketch, but that was probably scripted because he would have had to rush out to get changed and otherwise prepped for his song. Maybe the rushing triggered an asthma response?
There is one thing I notice in this, and that’s his hands are shaking a lot here. There is a scene where all three men are shaking their newspapers, but you can see that all the other times his hands are shaking pretty noticeably. So if it was asthma medication, it would have been before this point.
It must be sooo hard to feel like you're drowning and choaking infront of a thousands of people who are just screaming and not noticing you're struggling. You'd feel unhuman... like a paid monkey. Especially as they blow up more fireworks and smoke machines depriving you of more o2 and causing your struggles to accelerate.

He was almost constantly sick during 1D, so I wouldn’t doubt if it was a reason.

2:44 - 4:05 I noticed that Harry didn't sound as well as he does at other performances. I actually went back to the original song and compared them.
Exactly why it was in this video… his voice sounded pretty terrible.

this is really off topic from the video but at the show in Washington DC in 2018 harry seemed really tired and out of it. fans have worked out that it was because he was hungover. but i still don't really see it. i know that he was but i just can't figure out when he was acting off during the show. maybe if you have time could look at the show and perhaps make a video about it.

I looked at a bunch of the videos from this concert. He did appear to be a little off, but it's hard to know why. He's drinking a hot drink (in a mug) during some of the show. His energy was very minimal and seemed very disconnected with the audience. Even during SOTT, he was very anticlimactic with his big vocals and didn't hold out the notes at all. Maybe he wasn't feeling it that night? He did have a lack of energy and passion for sure.
