Ditto.
Yes!!!
AMEN!! I'M LIVING ON SS BUT I LOVE LEARNING HOW TO HARVEST SEEDS!! I HOPE THE AMARYLLIS THAT I GOT AT LOWE'S IS NOT A HYBRID AND I HOPE IT GIVES ME SEEDS🎉🤗🙏🙏🙏 THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFUL VIDEO I LOVE THIS!! DEFINITELY GOING TO SUBSCRIBE 😄💯👍🙏
This is probably the best gardening video I have ever seen. Most videos can only really show you one phase of whichever subject they are illustrating; because their plant is just in that one stage. But because you had amaryllis plants ready in each stage, it was so easy to follow along and totally understand what you were explaining. And I really liked that you clearly explained everything as you were going along and didn't add a bunch of superfluous information that can be distracting or confusing. Great video and thank you for the help! Karen from Nova Scotia.
I just love your information , no messing about , no fluffy comments , plain precise , straight to the point .. thank you so much form Victoria , Australia . 😊👍🏼
10 year's later, your great knowledge on these beautiful plant's are helping me in Georgia 🇺🇸 with my very first attempt at starting my own Amaryllis garden!!!! Thank you so much.
Thank you for your inspiring video's about Amaryllis seeds collecting. For the first time I did try to let grow Amaryllis seeds. Last month I started with seedspots from a Amaryllis to harvest , next I let it stand in a glas of water till it turned yellow. Next I pulled out the black thin seeds and I did put them direct in water for 24 hours, next I did pulled the outside of the seeds and put those seeds in moisted potting ground, unther plastic and kept it in a shade place. In a few days the seeds begin sprouting, next I did put the pot with sprouting seedlings in a closed glas terrarium close to a west-side stone wal of the house, warm and moist, the young spouts begin fast growing. Next I transplanted those in several deeper plant pots and let them grow in the terrarium. Several weeks later they look like litle gras. I am excited and wait for what growing brings next this season.
Thank you for sharing. I’ve had my Amaryllis for two years and have got it to blossom each. Now I want to learn how to grow its seeds and I was lead to your lovely video. 🙏🏿
Thank you Amaryllis Man. This is a perfect demonstration through all the pod stages. Extremely helpful!
Oh wow my amaryllis made a seed pod! I can’t wait to plant them! Thank you!
Seed pots must grow on the plant for at least 9 till 12 months I read somewere online information, so be patient.
The best video out there explaining step by step how to harvest Amaryllis seeds. With one bulb costing upwards of 20 bucks, you are saving folks a ton of money. Thanks a bunch!!!
Thank you for being the one video that covers this. I was wondering what my amaryllis was doing.
Made my day to know that I can harvest seed from these beautiful, but expensive plants. Thank you for the clear process and knowledgeable instruction.
One of the best videos on the subject. I really like how you showed the various stages of the seed pods. Nicely done!

10 years later, this youtube viewer has appreciate this video
Thank you so much for this video. I can start growing instead of buying plants ❤️ thank you so much
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve got seeds for the first time and I’ve only been growing amaryllis for a couple years. Nervous that something’s gonna go wrong, but hopefully this video will prevent or delay it!
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing. These plants are so fun. Hope you are still enjoying these. Stay blessed, friend!
Thank you so much for this video! It really helped me with my amaryllis plant ☺️
I have to admit that I'm jealous. You have all that space to grow endless amaryllis. I can't stop myself from cross-pollinating and I already have no room for my many seedlings. Worst of all, I bought three new bulbs in January with different colors so that I can try more cross-pollinating attempts when they eventually bloom.
Yes, amaryllis can be propogated from seed and from off-sets from the mother bulb. You can harvest your off-sets from the mother bulb and plant them in their own space. Amaryllis seem to enjoy growing in clusters so to divide them up is an optional chose. thanks, the Johnstons
Thank you SO much! My Amaryllis flowers are starting to die off but I have noticed the pods getting larger, I am going to harvest the seeds and then plant them up so I have more Amaryllis! :-)
Thanks so much for posting this!! You answered so many questions I was having trouble understanding before. My flowers just wilted and the seed pods are growing by the day. :)
Got a amaryllis for Christmas...lovely with two flower stem waiting to bloom.
Thank you! This is a wonderful video! You explained so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the process of collecting seeds! You did a great job!
Just the info I needed as I observed several seed pods forming in my gardens :) Thank you!
Great video. Never knew that. Thank you for sharing
this is awesome! thanks for making this! I'm taking care of my grandma's friend who is 83. her garden fell into disrepair after she fell and broke some bones. I've never had a garden of my own but I decided to try and revive hers. I managed to bring back several of her amaryllis. I pollinated them and now they have seed pods growing. now I think I'll be able to make it even better. do you have a video of how to start the seeds and when is the best time to plant?
Depends where you live, mine start in the New Zealand spring!
I love all your videos thank you very much for educating us on amaryllis
Yes , think we got it !!, I thank you for your kindness, for sharing your knowledge , a friend of my gave me , 2 Amaryllis plants , last summer, hopefully i can get some seeds this year, so i can have more Amaryllis flowers, have a bless day sir.

Hi Your vid is just the best. I thought I had Amaryllis but the flowers faced north south east west, and the pods were way longer than yours. I popped them open today and I got a nice number of seeds that look like yours! Guess I will just plant them and see(d) lol what pops up. god bless!

Thanks very much for taking the time to make these great informational videos! I've learned a lot from you that I will be putting into practice immediately! I almost waited too long to harvest my amaryllis seed, the seed pod had already burst open and started broadcasting itself, so I grabbed it ... are these seeds ready to plant or do I dry them longer like you show in another one of your videos?
Muhteşem ve harikasınız. Güzel çiçekler. Teşekkürler 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

Hi,
Thank you so much! Its most helpful for new gardeners. Do you have Hyacinth plant. One of my neighbor have Hyacinth plants, it got flowers and died. Now got seeds from the flowers. She want to know about the Hyacinth plant seeds to harvest and care in outdoor and indoor.
Fantastic video! I have shared it on my Facebook pagePl4nt Ge3k with my lil Amarillis pods!
Thanks
You're welcome.
wish i could hear what you are saying, i enjoy your videos.
congratulations, mr. amarilys ive learned a lot about amarilyus from you. one question. how long does it take for the stem to finish flowering and then to harvest the seeds?
Hello there you are the only person that grows outside I have found. I am so excited I jumped on and making this comment I have no idea where you're from I'm in Oklahoma zone 7. And I had no idea about the seed pod. Can I pick your brain? I have over a hundred and I'm tearing up and making new flower beds and I'm confused on some things would you mind a couple questions
So excited I found your videos a few weeks ago. I brought several Amaryliss bulbs from Maryland to Florida several years ago. The newer ones love growing in pots together and I get spectacular flowers? I just harvested my first seed pod today! My question is I have 3 older ones I planted in the garden and the get beautiful leaves but no flowers. I do fertilize, is there something else I should do. Thank you. I am excited for the next phase of my seed pods. Thank you!
Little food for the kidney 🌱 or there was stress.
@JazmynAndLeap Yes, you can see what we have on ebay under Amaryllis-Man. Thanks, Charlie
Thanks so much - very good video and wonderful that you had flowers at so many stages of growth.
Will one of those seeds produce a flower bulb after planted?
Yes, in about four years.
Do you continue to water the plant when the seed pods are drying out on the stems? Love your site and those birds sound heavenly!
Watering 💧💧💧 need to reduce ➡️ 💧)
I think this is what i have growing in my front yard.My "flowers" are way more bushier than yours.do I need to divide them? and if so how do i do that? i'd love to have more of these. Also do they go from seeds-bulbs-plants? thanks for your time.
Dang I cut mine off before it split, left it on my windowsill to dry out and hopefully I can still plant it.
How long before a seed matures enough to push out a stalk with blooms?
But there is one important think that is missing here: none of the hybrids will come true from those seeds, you will get plants with different sizes and colours, all or most worth keeping, but the mother plant won't be cloned, that has to be done by vegetative reproduction.
I already know.
Great information... but I have a question. I dug several bulbs out from my friend's lot before she sold the house. I planted them at my daughter's about 4 years ago. They always produced leaves, but never produced a flower until this year. Why did it take so long for these to bloom?
Dig a bit around the bulb and see if it might be rotten. They hate being waterlogged. If not it does take three to five years to flower, at least mine did
how long on average does it take for a seed pod to go from just starting to form to being ready to harvest?
Three weeks plus in warm conditions.
HI I'M FROM CALIFORNIA OTHER UA-camRS SAY YOU CAN'T PLANT THEM IN THE GROUND .MINE ARE PLANTED OUTSIDE I SEE THAT YOURS ARE. AND MINE ALL BLOOMED EVERY YEAR .DO WE HAVE TO TAKE THEM OUT AND PLANT AGAIN.I'M YOUR NEW SUBSCRIBER.👍
No, they will do just fine planted in the ground. They cannot take freezing weather is why they bring them in.
Ive just repotted my amaryllis and its had a smaller bulb growing with two leaves. I dont know if ive done the right thing be detaching the smaller bulb and putting that into its own pot.. one of the seeds must have fallen and begun to grow.. could you give me any advice, great video btw. Gonna give this a try 👍
Yes, if the off-set has roots it will do just fine in its own pot.
me encantan los lirios noay amarillos yello
thank you for your video on harvesting the seeds from the amaryllis. once the seeds are dried and ready to plant, many seeds do you plant per pot?
10 TO 12 SEEDS PER POT SHOULD DO cHARLIE
thanks Charlie
how many month`s does it take before they`r redy to harvest
@mbodell420 About a year - longer if they are refigerated.
At what time can you plant them outside in the spring. Do you transplant or plant directly in the ground. My wife got one for Christmas so I new to this.
yes, directly in the ground in the Springtime with the neck of the bulb above the surface of the ground.
Just bought some for a dollar at a big box..mart…grew 3 feet and has had this seed pod for weeks. It’s inside as it is March. How long do the seeds take to develop? I shook it a bit and sounds like there are seeds. Need to cut the stem so the rest of the plant can grow and not focus on the one seed pod. My other flowers only grew a foot, bloomed and waiting to see what happens after these flowers die.
I have humidity with enough water in the soil and the right light. I suck at growing anything.
About three weeks.
Wht type of soil does Amaryllis needs?we have humid climate in the Philippines and our Amaryllis does not go dormant but with lush green leaves all year round.
Your native soil will work fine.
