Fideo.... Man I have been trying to figure out exactly what this dish was ever since I was like 7 years old im 20 now! My Mexican neighbors always used to make it and bring some over and when they moved I realized I never got to ask the name of it! And every time I would try to find out no one ever knew what the hell I was talking about hahaha. FINALLY.
Awesome Beginner way to make Fideo. For those critiquing about tomato sauce, fry Fideo in separate pan, etc.... She clearly states there is an advance way of making it. Hence the title, Beginner. Looks delicious 👍
Interesting - I've never made it this way, but I think I will try. I normally use cut up and browned pork chops, lots sliced onion, and tomato sauce....... Great job on the video, well done.
I was looking for a fideo recipe like this!! My friends Mom makes it lk this but i never knew the recipe and how to do it... Im gonna try it out!! Ty for posting it!!!
Terrible mistake to watch this while I'm hungry and waiting for dinner. I like the idea of keeping the rendered fat -- grease -- from the meat. It's a shame to do without all that flavor. But i think i would lift the browned meat out and saute the fideo in that grease. When the fideo is golden brown, add back the meat and proceed. Thanx for the video.
I've made fideo very similar, only I fry the coiled fideo in a seperate pan than the ground beef. I break the fideo in half. I think lot of cumin is essential with fideo con res, y mucho ajo.
@@patriciarhodes6954 Real Mexican from Monterey. New generation is getting lazy and leaving out things. The toasting makes the fideo smokey and adds color to the dish also.
My mom makes it like that, with beef tips sometimes also....I need to sit down and do the advanced version, i just havent had time to make it cause it takes a lot longer then this version. :)
I was wondering how to make it my mom makes it but with chicken and she puts tomato sauce in it. Oh btw I saw your hill country fair comino I have the same one I do love HEB over Walmart ;)
Damn it!! I STILL cannot make this right. Mine comes out SO sticky...BTW, I'm so angry. These instructions were fantastic, yet STILL I get glue..I have LOVED this dish, ever since I was knee-high to an armadillo. But still, I cannot make it. I love it with corn tortiollas. I love it with chicken. I love it with hamburger meat. BTW, to the one who said Hispanics NEVER put hamburger meat in anything? You VERY obviously do NOT know Texans. In San Antonio, it's called Fideo Loca or Loco.
chicken would be awesome!!! Yea most ppl pot tomato sauce in it...its just as good...gives it a little kick...this is the plain way...im sure she would put the chicken in just like the ground beef and brown it first.then put the fideo/ vermicelli noodles in after the chicken was fully cooked.then at that point when the noodles and water were in she would dump the can of tomato sauce in and let it simmer. the most important thing it to watch the noodles.to make sure they dont get to smooshy
Penylynn Bernal that’s what I was wondering I haven’t made this in years but do remember adding tomato sauce . It still looks delicious just was surprised it didn’t have any tomato sauce. Look the part about her boyfriend I literally LOL!
oOoOh NP!!! Let me know how it turns out.... if u decide to add some veggies like onions or maybe some peppers be sure to add them in when ur browning the meat at the beginning. :D Then cover the veggies and meat with the cumin.
So does my mom....I'm def going to put tomato sauce in the advanced version. My grandma and my mom get really mad at me for not adding it, my boyfriend claims if i add it , it just turns into spaghetti....hes crazy.
Why don't you both learn how to cook together? It's actually fun cooking with your spouse and personally I think the food comes out even better when my husband cooks with me 🙂 UA-cam is a good place to learn how to cook many different meals. (Obviously) lol
Shouldnt you fry the noodles first? Fideo is an art. Either you know how to cook it or dont. I fried mine. Cooked the meat sep. After frying...added the meat with water and tomato bullion. It was so good. Never make a lazy version of fideo!!
matttabi matttabi I agree, I cook the meat and noodles separately. I also add garlic, Comino, chicken bouillon, chicken stock, water, browned seasoned pork chop meat (cut up), and tomato sauce. My family craves it. What she made looks like just taco meat and mushy noodles. But to each their own I guess.
Kay Cee how rude, lol lissa1011 was being sarcastic....I think.... in response to angii marie that commented that Mexicans don't ever use ground beef in fideo. :/
This is Tex-Mex style. I just add onions, garlic and 1 can of diced tomatoes and just like you, I don't add the extra water that traditional fideo calls for..the traditional version is more of a soup.
I'm guessing that's how you like it. It looks bland and mushy. I don't cook the vermicelli together with the beef. I use Consomate and tomato sauce to taste.
🔥🔥🔥
I like to make this for myself but I don't use so much fideo since I live alone LOL

Lmfao @ 3:48! But in all seriousness... that's wonderful that y'all have that kind of relationship
I've made fideo very similar, only I fry the coiled fideo in a seperate pan than the ground beef. I break the fideo in half. I think lot of cumin is essential with fideo con res, y mucho ajo.
A quarter cup of Cumin??!!! Did I hear that right?😵That cant be right.
Very nice narration and very clear instruction.....loved it , now I cant wait to cook me a batch!!!
You have to toast the fideo with oil and galic in a another pan.
Who says?? LOL

My grandparents are from Mexico. They make it this same way.... Your rebuttal is invalid 🤷
@@patriciarhodes6954 You should stick to making cookies...maybe you won't cut corners like your grandma did..pobresita!
Frying or toasting the Fideo until golden brown gives it a nice nutty flavor 😋.
I'll have to try her way and compare.
You did not toast the noodles enough
Excellent!
Loved the video. Your boyfriend comment killed me. Lol. Do you break the noodles in the box? I remember seeing my mother do that.
I thought they put tomato sauce in it
My mom makes it like that, with beef tips sometimes also....I need to sit down and do the advanced version, i just havent had time to make it cause it takes a lot longer then this version. :)
Loved it

Corey A you obviously didn’t marry her for her cooking.

No. Mexicans never use ground beef in anything. And NEVER in fideo
Kay Cee how rude, lol lissa1011 was being sarcastic....I think.... in response to angii marie that commented that Mexicans don't ever use ground beef in fideo. :/

Then thats sopa 😑😑
