Completely agree with the choice, although Romankov could have been a choice as well, but it's too far back and most of us (I know it's my case) have not seen him fence. There isn't a lot of footage about Golubitsky, but I saw him fence here and then as I was emerging from the junior world cup in the senior world cup, and he is really amazing. He is not just another run-of-the-mill flicker, as a foilist he stands out from the masses so much. Winning 3 world championships in a row is insane, too.

Do you know where to find the full footage of the Golubitsky-Omnes match shown 1:43? Omnes is another fencer who really stood out from the masses, but the only footage I have found of those two fencing is in the 1992 olympics final.

totally agree as well with Stingoh, Golubitsky is the person who demonstrated by keeping your point out there and using counter and counter time, you can beat flickers easily. Sadly they ended up changing the foil timing even as this strategy was taking hold. I fenced a defensive style like he did and loved what he was doing back then.

Does it still work or not, because with the longer lockout time it might be less effective

@@jasoneel76 He has a large club in Tustin, CA (I sold him most of his scoring gear and am there frequently to repair it when the kids break it), and they've been pretty successful, so he's obviously leanre d to adapt to it.
