Baru's Journey from Australia to the Toledo Zoo
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 вер 2013
- The Toledo Zoo is now the home of Baru, North America's largest saltwater crocodile. He is 17 feet long and weighs approximately 1,500 pounds. Baru's journey began in Darwin, Australia and his flight was 30 hours. The video above includes recordings from throughout the trip.
Video segments were recorded by Big Gecko and the Toledo Zoo.
I recently saw Baru at the Toledo Zoo, and I am happy to report he seems very comfortable. the zoo did quite well in constructing his habitat. And I must confess he blends in quite well so I was kinda startled when I finally noticed him. He is alot bigger then the alligators I work with.
He was removed in 2018. It’s impossible that you saw him.
@@YRCYTHe's still at the zoo as of 2023, Layne most likely saw him before his exhibit was being renovated
@@shanewalters2565 ok
I just "adopted" this big beautiful boy the other day. He's my Zoo PAL and I'm so excited to visit Baru tomorrow for the first time!
Love when people don't know a damn thing about The Toledo Zoo and try to judge them.
This croc was removed because it was deemed a danger to people, pets and livestock. This is why we only have an average of one death per year by crocodile, compared to many 100's in Africa and Asia. This croc will never want for protection, food or vet care and will likely live one or two decades more than in the wild.
@YortOK Well according to the zoo's Facebook and website, he's still there as of 2023
We love this!
Take good care of old mate....🐊👍🏻🇦🇺
Handsome big boy 🐊💕
I want this song. And I love the “Ahh!” Look during his first shower after getting off the plane. That’s my favorite part after a long trip too.
The biggest Croc in the Americas is a nice title to own in the world of zoo's. congradulations.
Outstanding accession! Can't wait to visit!
I am in awe at the size of this lad, absolute unit
That's what she said
When he said that warm water can leer him out then I say the face of true happiness 😂😂🐊
I love Baru
nice big exhibit for him too.
Looks like he has a nice size inclosure
@@cokeguts8977 Listen, i've been to the zoo many times of my 12-year life, and i can tell you right now that Baru is a very happy crocodile, and gets proper care, nutrition, and everything else a crocodile needs. And no need to be racist.
Fun fact: at baru’s exhibit this video plays in a small tv
Baru ..new brands
I thought the late Gomek & the still living Maximo “For the moment” were Large.
👍🏻👍🏻
If I had unlimited money and resources and a scary giant croc I would make small river or stream for him to that that he could do laps in. The stream will come back around to the lagoon. Then have glass at some parts to see him swim with a view below water level.

Glad to see this vids. I'am an animal lovers
Why dont they leave averythin in there natural countries/habitats
Chris Coleman half the time when zoos take in animals they’re either found injured or abandoned. Zoos also do it to preserve the life of endangered animals to prevent them from going extinct.
Baru was deemed a danger to people and livestock
It was either this or the local sheriffs from where he’s from would’ve put him down. They saved his life
Zoos is to preserve animals and in zoo they got free food and safe from predator u edgy dumbass

Jou mean croco dildo's

2:47 “BARU EXPLORES HIS NEW HOME!”
More like “wtf is this? I gotta get outta here.”
is that going to bring a lot of money
🌙🌙
Giant forklift, lol, hardly
So basically Baru had a sweet life until he got sedated and shoved in an enclosure
No, he was removed from his habitat in Australia be ayse if the risk to people, pets, or livestock. They normally relocate them or put them out to "stud" in croc farms. If a zoo puts their hand up for a relocated croc and will pay the expenses, then the Australian government has on occasion agreed to this. In some situations the croc may be euthanised, if their are no options for relocation or captivity. This croc will live a luxurious life, probably several decades more than in the wild.
@@YortOK Agreed. Tom, Baru lives a really nice life at the zoo. I've seen him, and he is living a good life, and hes a lovley bastard.
He has been there for many years now and was eating peoples livestock and was a large threat to the villages he was near. Very large seeing as he is one big ass crock
Life was good for him now he's in jail
Listen, Baru is living in a better area. Because in australlia, some people consider Crocodiles as pests and people may hunt them for their meat, or send them to Crocodile farms where they would get slaughtered. Hes living a really good life anyways.
@@Stardust_Speedway In Australia hunting on crocs is prohibited.
👍🏻👍🏻
