Is “sine wave” the same as “pure sine wave”?

There are different forms of sine waves. Anything AC is going to be a sine wave. A pure sine wave is just electricity that was converted from DC to AC in a way that makes it less distorted.

Sine wave is a AC with Sinusoidal form, its the we obtain of AC outlet wall, and its the IDEAL form.
Then the normal inverters that converts DC in usable AC, not produce a real sinusoidal wave, instead a named "modified sine wave", (a square form that seem a sinusoidal) not good for some sensitive devices, but works to mostly devices.
After development of more complex inverters that produce a real sinusoidal AC form (like wall outlet), it was necesary the name "pure sine wave inverter" to diferenciate from "normal" inverters, So now the old style "normal inverters" are called "modified sine inverters".
