Hope to see, Brian gets her going soon! Would love to see Kill Dozer competing again.
Do like the 2JZ guys do with big turbos.... spray until you get the turbo to light off. Then have the Holley pull the spray out after you hit 4-5 lbs.
If not, use nitrous to spool the turbo
Good to see it back up and running 👍
Let's Gooooooo!
Hell yeah Brian
Safe Travels Brother John!!
Man you know your stuff about turbos!
TJ tuner @ the shop working his magic
John Doc was having this issue with his ASAG Silver Bullet SN95. But man that blue car that takes a whole 30 seconds to get on boost is wild 😂 I saw that at rockingham last time.
thats a big turbo for the little 5.3
5.3 💪💪💪, she needs a stator starting with 17
John, I have BTR stage 2 turbo cam I pulled out of my 5.3. Nothing wrong with it.
Nitrous is the converters friend!
OSHA would love that fan😂😅😮
Just realised that the 5.3 is actually only about 320 cubic inches, so that's a big hamster wheel for it.
That low ram isn't helping the situation either, they are the ultimate torque killer.
may I suggest smaller piping 1 5/8 th headers and a 2 1/4 Y pipe
What did that turbo come off of, I have a Detroit 60 series turbo, will that work on the 5.3?
Do good
We would retard the timing to put heat into the exhaust to spool a large turbo with a small engine. GL. I also used a FTI 5500 stall w a Glide.
Murder Nova used nitrous to spool his turbos when he ran the small block
50 shot to help spool
I’m curious what the RPM on the two step set at.
@@TurboJohnRacing I had to put a 19-0 stator in mine for it to spool my twins. .91 A/R at 4500 rpm. Without boost mine won’t get over 3000 rpm’s.
Did you say you had 36 degrees of timing in an LS engine? I've not seen an LS make any power at 36.
@@TurboJohnRacing ok I haven't got that far, but mine backs up at anything after 30.
Internal vs. External what's the difference???
internal dumps fluid before it gets to the torque converter. external dumps fluid after it has gone through the torque converter
Wrong converter. Change out that stator and it will light off no problem.
try more feul! fat is better than leen. maby 32 deg ing? im wat you call inport racer 109cui and PG 7" converter.
15 blade stator doesn’t belong in a 5.3 period. 18 or 19 blade is what it needs
I like that guy. Like me sort of. To the point not much extra lmao. I get called an asshole all the time due to it though.
@danmyers9372 if you're in my catalog I could talk your ear off. But if I don't know you or much care for you. You're not getting anything out of me. I really like this guy though.
@bryanfondren8362 I get that. I really do. It's got to be weird talking to the camera also. Like damn John who are we talking to lol. Good luck BTW.
Lmao. Everybody that doesn’t know me thinks I’m an asshole. I just keep to myself. My circle is small
Just watched Steve Morris video and his timing is down to 2 degrees to get his turbos to spoil.
If you pull timing while it's lugging on the converter, it will drop rpm and kill it before it can spool........
Nitrous
36 degrees in a 5.3 ls? That seems about 7 degrees too far advanced.
Take a bunch of timing out and add some fuel and it will spool
it needs NOS :-)
Have you tried a anti glare screen protector on the computer. Might look better on the video
Richen it up and take timing out.
I agree re: the timing but don’t you want to lean it to raise exhaust temps? Hotter exhaust moves faster.
It has to be lean with a lot of timing to get it going. Once it starts building boost at 3 ish pounds, that’s when I can richer and snatch timing. If I pull timing, or fasten at 3000 rpm and this turbo it will loose rpm. Been there done that.
Good tech. I cringe when guys have slow spooling cars
Am I the only one that heard you say it is a 427? You have the label of this video as 5.3. Something isn’t making sense there. Please explain the reason for the 5.3 on the title if you said this is a 427 in the car.
Old engine was a 427, it blew up. This is a 5.3 with rods and pistons! That's why it will not spool with the same torque converter and is getting changed.
To much timing to light it off. Pull 10 degrees and add fuel. Way to much timing
You coukd just take a page out of cleeters play ook and run some nitrous out to the turbo and use it to spool it up lmao just saying!
Good luck. Hope to see Killdozer in action soon
