I love the Piccadilly Waterstones! I recently started working in Green Park, so I’m always popping in there and into Hatchards during my lunch break. Before that I used to work on the Strand and I’d pop into Forbidden Planet and the Waterstones in Covent Garden. The moral of the story is that I’ve had to put myself on a book buying ban for the last few months 😂 looking forward to your video essay!💀
☀️ I’m going back to London in a few weeks (I used to live there) and have a list of what I’d like to do and book shops feature a LOT 😂 I love Word on the Water which is a bookstore in a boat! 🚤
Re discworld there are 2 main ways you can read them - chronologically or by series. Personally I would go with the series ie read the death books, then the witches, city watch, wizards, moist con lidwig etc, but make sure you read the books in each series in order. There loads of videos on UA-cam on how to read discworld. Also there has been a new audible series released which is incredible so would recommend listening and reading together.
A good ol fashion book haul, love it. I just recently got The Final Empire, Throne of Glass, Renegades, and Chain of Gold for my birthday. Still debating on another book as well. Happy reading!
I read Morgan is my Name recently and it clicked a memory of The Mists of Avalon which is the OG "feminist King Arthur" that focuses on Morgan La Fey. I hadn't read it, but had it recommended to me a bunch in the early 00s. If you like the former, I really recommend the latter.
Hey Mel! So something of a fun fact Gower street is actually the BIGGEST Waterstones’s and larger than Piccadilly. It has the most books and square footage of any waterstones - it just makes it feel cosy. Hearing you call it small made me laugh so much 😅 (I used to work there)
Omg this makes me so excited to see! I live in the UK and love going book shopping in London. If you ever get the chance to visit again you should definitely check out forbidden planet in London too! It is by leister square and has a whole downstairs area full of books and manga, 3 for 2 on almost all manga and some stunning editions of book 😊. As well as an ground floor being full of interesting collectible items.
Everyone who knows discworld always say to never start with the first book because it can put you off haha I don't remember the name of the most suggested book to start with, but Death's books are a close second in everyone's recommendations! I wanna start discworld once i get a kindle cuz there's noooo way I'm buying 41 books😅
I have read Mort and I really like it, Terry Pratchett is one of my favorite authors; I recommend Guards! Guards! Is one of the most popular books inside the discworld. Saludos
Oh my goodness, this was so fun! Thank you for sharing your London adventure! Recently bought the Greenglass House series & enjoying it very much! Also planning on reading Frankenstein before Halloween, hopefully!🎃👻🍂 "don't look at my broken nail" Hilarious!😂
18:10 I read that last month !!! I was kinda disappointed with how it ended. I wanted "slay your enemies and take your rightful place/power" with creative liberty that maybe deviates from the original. But it just filled in the gap and was "what might've happened to make Morgan the way she is now"
You make me wanna read Mort (never heard of it) and Our wives under the sea (heard of it just forgot about it). I read Our majesty’s royal coven last year and getting ready to reread it so I can continue the second novel, I hope you like it I had fun. I just bought All Our Hidden gifts and gonna read it this fall. I also wanna let you know I find you very entertaining 💀
💀💀💀I bought one book recently called The Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White (YA queer historical fantasy horror novel). It came out in early September and was one of several anticipated releases, so I am looking forward to reading it for the upcoming haunting season. I am in the middle of 3 books (which is kinda low for me), and might start another one. Cannot wait for the other London haul videos.
Knowing that I own books in their least appealing covers gives me anxiety... Like why couldn't you release the prettier version before I bought the other one..! 😅

I love that "I don't need it either but it's in my hands." That explains a lot of impulse buying. Love you!
Written in the stars is soooooo good
This is a nice way to end a Sunday night, relaxing with Mel vlog! 🫶🏽 💀

Oh! I really enjoyed "The Lesbiana's Guide to Catholic School" - highly recommend the audiobook if you don't want to read it physically! ❤

I lived an hour train from london for 4 years and I always left with a book 😁
Sometimes I do judge a book by its cover but usually based on what the book summary is😂
