Although I have read this passage multiple times, I can't believe I missed the most important part.. "He was about to pass by them." The way Sproul brings the connection between "Jesus was about to pass by" with Moses' and Elijah's stories was eye opening! I am grateful and thankful to God for allowing me to hear RC Sproul's explanation of this passage. Once again I amazed about how rich His Word is.
Because of several factors! Mark wrote his gospel under Peter's influence, and Peter probably didn't want to overshadow the purpose of this passage by bringing about that story. This way, the point that Mark wants to go across is more easily understood. His Gospel is known for its fast pace and the specificity of the details the Holy Spirit inspired him to write. It's all so that his readers can understand how Jesus is The Son of God and Son of Man.
