Catholic Institute of Sacred Music - Howells Mass in the Dorian Mode - Kyrie - 2024 Choral Institute

34 singers from around the world gather each summer for a week-long Choral Institute of the Catholic Institute of Sacred Music, held at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park.
Each day during the Institute, the singers sing Lauds, Mass, and Vespers, preparing in one week 13 motets, 3 Gregorian Mass ordinaries, 2 polyphonic Mass ordinaries, and each of the 5 days a complete set of Gregorian propers, sung Lauds according to the Liturgy of the Hours, and Gregorian Vespers. Accompanied by sessions on group vocal technique, choral training in rhythm and solfège, and plenty of time for private prayer, food, and fellowship, singers develop their capacity for and knowledge of choral leadership, becoming better equipped with skills that will help them develop their home parish choirs and lead great rehearsals of the Church's treasures of sacred music. The course is taught by Prof. Christopher Berry and Dr. Jennifer Donelson-Nowicka.
