I'm not sure if I should be jealous or not, I just genuinely can't remember the last time I've had such an intense emotional reaction to a book. It's why it's always fascinating to listen to you but it must be exhausting.
@@miramanga Don't be too down on yourself! It's endearing and it's part of the reason authors obvously love talking to you. Just gotta see the positives in it.
You can view the emperor taking power from the warp gods like Prometheus stealing fire from the gods… we should definitely ask ADB about that, an international allegory?
It is actually worse than just summoning a Daemon. The priestess is elevated in a Daemon Princess. That is when a human soul is bargained away for Daemonhood and eternal warp-life.
Argel Tal best boy. You can add a lot of context about one of the real driving forces of the Heresy story, good old Lorgar, by reading the novella 'Aurelian' found in the 'Eye of Terra' anthology (book 35 of the Horus Heresy). Long live those who gave their lives for the Truth!
Thanks for sharing this moment. That book really feels like the most pivotal one in the Hersey (after the opening trilogy) to me. So monumental. ADB never misses a beat in anything he's written. This book lets us, for the first time, see the Emperor as possibly fallible, almost human. Remember what you read here 30 books from now when you get to ADB's 'Master of Mankind'. P.S. I think it's particularly arcane that reading *this book* is when your bed got "marked". Best light some incense!
A good book always draws you in doesn't it. As a good book should . And this just goes to show how much of a good heart you have that a disturbing book like this can make you squirm so much. My heart goes out to you😊
There is a short story called aurelian where lorgar is talking to magnus about he sees in his version of what argol tol goes through written by the same author gives some great context to the change in lorgar that occurs during the 50 years btween the sacrafice that he bears witness to and the the drop site massacre (as there is a big time skip towards the end of the book) theres no spoilers for any orher book to my knowledge but after i read this book i was hooked on lorgar and his whole plot line adb has been my favourite author of horus heresy by far hes amazing
Never trust any demon. They lie, even when they speak true words. Honestly, that book is excellent, but always remember: unreliable narrator is the name of the game. I really hope that you can get ADB to talk about the books.
I do think it's sad we'll never get a 'Primarch Babies' spin-off. I like the idea of an anarchic creche, with loads of headstrong little primarch-toddlers playing pranks on their minder (who is a brow-beaten Malcador, in my head).
Mira I want to warn you, it gets worse!. Fast forward to what is currently going on in the present times, upon Guiliman’s revival from his coma, he finds out that not only was Lorgar right about the Emperor but the imperium of mankind worships the emperor as a god and savior complete with an entire Ecclesiarchy of man kind and entire chapters of space marines that are crazy zealous in their beliefs like the Black Templars. If you really want to know more you’ll need to read through the stories of the Nightlords, their Primarch Conrad Curze had the Emperor’s number down pat, from the day he held his hand, Conrad saw the countless slaughters and atrocities the Emperor had planed for his legion to perform in his name. Conrad understood full well the why and how the emperor did what he started and into the future of what’s to come, however this knowledge was too much for Curze to bear, eventually leading him to sink into a Primarchs levels of madness. Conrad also foresaw that the emperor will betray him and turn on him which he did and he had prophesied this and to prove his point he had his legion split up into the universe and demanded to be left alone in his ship to wait for the assassin the emperor sent to kill him, he would not impede the assassins blade explaining to the assassin that he wanted to prove the hypocrisy of his father and validating his truths about the emperor’s plans and the role he had engineered Conrad Curze to perform, however he did have a very interesting conversation with her before she took he’s head. Ultimately Mira you have to understand the creature not the man the emperor is was and will be is as stated an “Anathema “ to humanity he was a creature that was made through genetic tempering a through ritualistic arcane process who’s purpose is to combat the warp and all the universe has to throw towards humanity no matter the cost even the loss of humanity itself. The more you keep reading on this long journey you’ll learn that your perspective on the universe of 40k is very much lost and damned and, having the huge understanding as readers we of the overall overwhelming impossibility of the 40k universe were just left to cheer for the great characters that endure tremendous ordeals against forces to maddening to comprehend. All the writers create such amazing characters that we can’t help but to completely love or utterly hate, that’s what compelled me to keep reading all the stories from the Black Library. After you get ahead in the Horus Heresy and have a better understanding on how the many different astartes chapters work and the Imperium, As a suggestion I highly recommend reading the Fabius Bile series, I think he is probably the ONLY character in the Warhammer 40k lore that actually wants to truly help mankind… I know I know! It sounds nuts but give it a read you’ll understand what I mean. Wait till you start reading the Eldar stories, I specially love the Harlequin tales, you’ll see a different perspective on the space marines.

My favorite Book of the HH saga.
I'm so excited for you, seeing your reactions to all the revelations this book brings. Almost jealous 😂. So happy your family reading this one 👍
Ask arbiter Ian what planet they went to with the purple eyed people that did the sacrifice. It blew my mind.
Eisenhorn has purple eyes and that book came out in 2004! This came out in 2010….
Also no spoilers
The planet WAS a huge surprise. Interesting to speculate how it went from its 30th millennium state to its state in the 41st.
