Thomas has the most expressive eyebrows ever. I find myself completely enthralled by them. Is this some kind of hypnosis trick to get us into the hobby and make us believe we are half decent at aquascaping?! Hmmmm....I’m onto you Thomas! 😂😂 Great series, loving it so far. Can’t wait to see it all grown in!
Your freakin awesome dude! Been watching for forever, and you inspired me to get a big tank (65 gallons). I’m also going to start a UA-cam because of you! Big thanks!
Thomas, thank you so much. Honestly i have been trying to grow hairgrass underwater and it hasn't been going well, i think I will try this method! I didn't even know about this method until i watched this video. Thanks so much, and excellent filming brian.
Loving the videos! So helpful!! I do have a question though, I'm planning a low tech tank which I'm starting after I move house, if I'm doing a dry start method with staurogyne repens, would you keep trimming the height as it grows to encourage it to spread across the substrate or just leave it to grow upwards? Also if I trim the tops, can they be replanted in the substrate and left to root themselves or will they not root? Thanks!
@Big Al's, you should try the dry method starter that includes a water bottle. Basically, cling wrap the tank. Air tube into the tank. Then other end into a bottle full of water. This one, above the water. Then another airtube in the wate.r This tube goes to the air pump. Then one opening somewhere in the cling lap. Allowing air circulation for the plants and potentially reducing the need to misting.
Hi there I am moving next month on the 17th I am wondering what's the best way to move the fish and the aquarium from my existing place to my new place
You would need buckets to move your existing tank water. If I were you, I would get a power supply (like a UPS) for the filter and heater in one of those bucket for your fish, substrate and your beneficial bacteria. That also means you would need to drive slow. But it’s worth it. Hope this helps.
I tried the dry start method after watching all your inspiring videos, and into my 2nd week after watching couple of other videos got into painting java moss (yoghurt method) on driftwood. Now I have white mould starting to show up in my driftwood alone. While it might be harmless, it's killing the looks. Please suggest a way to get rid of it?
I learned the hard way that java moss can’t be used in the dry start method. That being said I got an amazing dwarf hairgrass carpet using this method.
Where's the Time Lapse! So we can watch the method at work :) I've never laid down a carpet so I was wondering about the spacing and how it all fills in. Great video though! Informative as always
You can get past misting the tank by using an air pump running through 2 water bottles one full of water an then into the tank h20 plants has a vid on it
You can get snails from plants you buy if the seller has them in their tanks already and if they grow their plants out side too, if you’ve gotten them after buying new plants that’s probably how they got there. As far as them being bad...... not really, but they could bread and spread and you would see more of them in the tank. Some people buy snails on purpose as tank cleaners but they clean at snail speed;) . If you don’t like them, there are fish you could buy that will get rid of them or you could pick them out as you see them.
If you are going the fish predator approach, get some loach like botia sidthimunki. Don't get pea puffers unless you can keep them fed with live or frozen food when the snail is gone.
I love this series! I’ve wanted to see plants get added to this bad boy ever since I binge watched the first six episodes, lol

Thomas B 😯😯😯😯🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Crazy. You have such high quality videos, both visually and content wise.
I have wanted to try this dry start with a mix of (maybe) 3 different carpeting plants in an Iwagumi style scaped cube.

Sorry to hear about your troubles growing hairgrass, but we hope using the dry method helps! Keep us posted!

Will mold be a problem with this method?
How successful is this method if you are starting from spores/seeds?

Wish I'd seen this before setting up my tank! Fighting the urge to start over again.... lol
Is it possible to do this method with seachem fluorite?
Is there any carpeting plants that feed mostly from water fertilizers?
@Thomas B how is the baby dwarf tears progressing?
I've done this twice, dwarf hair grass and monticarlo, both times took over 12 months lol, way to long. But the end result was fantastic
Where do you get your plants?
Where can I buy dwarf hairgrass seeds from??
What light are you using for this tank?
I love your video and I have pond

Nice!!!!

Cannot wait to see this finished. I'm about to start another tank with dwarf baby tears. So I cannot wait until this is done.
Wet my dry start. Hahaha
Kidding aside, thanks for sharing this! Very informative 🍻

I wish I saw this before I started my dry start hahahahaha, I am going to make some adjustments
I have tried the dry start method on two different tanks ...... FAIL lol idk how I fail at it
Do you read the comments?

I love the series but it feels like I’ve been waiting a year for this whole series to come out..
Thomas B I understand, it’s just a good series and everyone is Anxious haha
Wouldn’t it be the moist start method? ;)
Guys i have a question, is snails bad for aquarium because i never bought any snail and somehow they're in my tank

@@redheathan1386 so they're half bad and good, and is there any solution to stop them spreading like crazy?

@@tanbryan445 any kind of loach?
Any of the Botia genus of loach will do.
Why is his hair nicer than mine?
Dry method but still requires filling part of the tank? Wouldnt calling it the damp method make more sense?
I bought some fish from big Als and they had ick and it killed all my fish. I don’t trust Big Als any more.
Lol so late 😂
What light are you using for this tank?
