next time u face a shield u can just spam click it with an axe it will disable for a few sec. also with slow falling stay grounded cuz u are unable to crit with the effect so the best choice is going for kb hits
btw netherite actually has more armor toughness than diamond armor so i think you take less damage from higher damage attacks which makes it so being crit spammed matters slightly less

You could use axe to break (disable for couple sec) his shield and also the axe you got is so much stronger than your sword (sharp 4 on diamond axe )

Pretty sure when u hit someone that hold the shield against u they take no damage and u use an axe to disable the shield
You could have demolished the person at the end who spammed shield by crafting an axe with the diamonds in the chests to disable it.
