Thank you and fair winds
Loved that the passing ship recognized you. What a great greeting from the captain 👍
Yes it was! Thanks for the comment Michael.
😂🎌
Lol. I recognized that as sarcastic dry humor the moment he said it.
Loved to go back in time and hear about Gabriola Island in BC…. What an amazing adventure you have both forged :)
It was a long time ago but one of those moments that is crystal clear in my memory.
Hope your wife's rhododendrons are doing ok! ~~~_/) ~~~
She's a great gardener.
Good Day - Excellent segment, particularly your sharing the AIS system in operation. Greatly appreciated. Best of all luck!
Many thanks!
We appreciate you sharing your adventures. We are bracing for Hurricane rain and wind here in Georgia. Be safe friend. Thoughts and prayers 🙏 from Georgia. GaMike

Wave rover is now your tent. It gives you safety and comfort.
Exactly
I’m curious as to what you feel the differences are between the new Wave Rover and the Conteesa? Fair winds and following seas, Captain.
video coming after this passage
Having a strong boat in the ocean is comforting, but having a Mrs. Wave Rover back home taking care of the rhododendrons is at least equally comforting!
I'm a fortunate man
Brilliant view of that sunrise! Loved your camping story … my wife and I had a similar experience when we had our first canoe camping adventure … once that first portage is behind you the experience becomes magical. Very interesting to see the ship alert system in action and how about her WR salute … very cool. Thanks for the self steering top tip … well described. Speaking of the Mk lll, my OCD gets triggered every time I see those two shackles on the control arms … why are they hooked on differently? Probably just me but one of them could do with being repositioned. Hold fast! ⛵️🇨🇦⚓️😄
I should have seen and fixed the shackles
FANTASTIC journey. Thank you so much for sharing! Your spirit of adventure colors over into my own life. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Groovy action on the Atlantic --
From Mousetown Florida where the Gulf comes to us
Fantastic. Gulf comes to us
Thanks for sharing, as always, a very enjoyable video.
Best wishes : brian in nz.
Great to hear from NZ
@@RoversAdventure Following from Brisbane, Australia.
@@wyattfamily8997 I have so many fond memories of my time back on the Brisbane river
Another great video Alan. Does your wife ever join you on your adventures ?
She doesn't like sailing but will be joining me in Ireland
A good choice of music you chose to put with the segment where you were talking about camping at Gabriola Island. Beautiful tones.
So cool the ship crew were fans of yours.
Out there living the dream!
I'm very lucky to be able to do this
I would be craving some ketchup by now.
You can break any habit in 3 weeks
That's where the Danish tin mackerel comes in with its tomato sauce.
👍👍👍👏
Great video 💯... Always looking forward to the next!
More to come!
Hey Alan, I presume Waverover is not dancing about on Francopan's AIS monitor?
It would look steady
Looks awesome Allan, almost makes me want to get a boat..
lol
Forge your own adventure 😂
Consider your food strategy, what was your body starting weight, and do you expect to gain or lose weight when you finally arrive at Horta?
I expect that I will lose a little bit, but nothing like previous voyages
Having spent most of my adult life at sea, I enjoy the sailing, but what is priceless to me are your perspectives on life in general. Thank you for sharing . I grew up off the grid in a remote fishing village, your comments are spot on.
Thank you very much for this comment
I can eat the same thing everyday as well. Makes meal prep and planning pretty simple. Thanks for sharing your adventure, I’m completely hooked on the idea that you can travel the world being pushed by the wind.
Thanks for watching!
You should switch to relative motion, not real. Relative gives what you see in real life if you are moving. If the function is possible with AIS, though.
He is a trained Naval Officer. Navies use true North presentations on all radar repeaters and tactical displays. It's what he's used to. Relative motion is just as good, it all depends on what you are comfortable with.
Looks like there is not a bit of stress on the rigging nice.
What ais program was running on you tablet?
Thank you
God bless
Vesper 8000
She handles very well in the rough seas. The extra work you did on the keels is paying off now. Be safe and thanks for the video.
Absolutely
You look hardened or wiser than when you was in ya 26footer!
I worked on getting into better shape for this voyage
do you carry a spare sail on these trips
?????
No but I carry repair supplies
How I envy you. Fair winds my friend from Soyth Africa.
Yer funny t'day b'y😅.
Sorry, South. 😂
I have a friend who lives on Mudge Island just off Gabriola Island. To get there from Vancouver you first get a ferry to Nanaimo, then another ferry to Gabriola Island then row over to Mudge Island. What a journey but not half as exciting as you're experiencing at the moment.
Many's a time Mrs Rover and I made that journey from Nanaimo.
Excellent video Alan again! Your rhythm of shooting calm passage in story telling while there are 10ft waves in the background is just hard to beat from the dynamic drama point of view. Your professional approach to issues, whatever they are, must come only from years of experience and iterative self-development, not forgetting God’s leading and protection. Stay well and healthy as you are 🙏. With high respect, Janne/Finland
Thank you for another terrific comment my friend.
Grat blog😊
Learn to cook rice and bean ,share with yours omelet .Nut maket a good snack Keep up with the good sailing Saludos desde Marina del Rey California.
I don't eat carbs and I'm happy and healthy with my diet
AHOY CAPT. ROVER, REALLY ENJOY LIVING THE ADVENTURE THROUGH YOUR AWESOME VIDEOS....I HAVE BEEN DYING TO ASK YOU WHY YOU COVER YOUR SHIP STORES EGGS IN VASELINE??? YOU POINTED OUT A FEW VIDEOS BACK, BUT DID NOT EXPLAIN WHY....PLEASE LET US KNOW WHEN YOU CAN....BE SAFE...AND STAY SHARP!
if eggs are washed then the protective coating that the hen puts on the egg is removed so I coat them in Vaseline. This preserves them.
You've clearly done your homework on nutrition, perfect strategy for sustaining yourself during a passage where mealtimes might be irregular for whatever reason. Fish oils, tallow, eggs...this squares with everything I've learned too. If you ever get the chance, please speak on your previous experience with a metal boat and why you chose to go with plywood for this build. Because as with nutrition, it seems you've put a lot of consideration into the whole thing and I'd like to follow the paths of your reasoning. I myself would like to build (something sized more for a couple to spend whole seasons on), but am still up in the air about steel vs plywood. I keep circling back to a Brent boat in my thinking, or a larger Wave Rover style if one is on the horizon.
Good idea for a video. Will try to do something when I am in the Azores
Hi Alan im a huge fan such an inspiration. Was wondering. I know the reasoning behind your diet, but do you get sick of it.
Not at all
Oh man you have to change your breakfast choice, I gave it a try and figured out that I'm not a big fan of canned mackerel.
lol, I love it
How is your solar power holding up on cloudy days?
covering that in the next video
With that diet does it provide enough vitamin C dont want you to get scurvy 😊
Scurvy doesn't affect folks who are on a low carb diet (or no carb like me)
@@RoversAdventure thats interesting
So true.... I've been strictly beef and pork carnivore for about 5 years now and I'm doing better in my 40's than than any other time in my whole life (lighter, stronger, and more/better energy than ever could have imagined!)@@RoversAdventure
@@bilbywalkabout2969 Lack of carbs is not known to be protective against scurvy.
@@cgnicolis actually it is apparently, the carbs inhibit the body absorbing vitamin C and meat actually contains sufficient vitamin C to supply the body’s needs - I did a bit of research
I admire a great many things about what you are doing. However, I, personally, could not eat the same thing day in, day out. No hot sauce? Peppers, jalapenos & otherwise? Onions, olives, artichokes, tomatoes? Cheese, Oh, the cheese? & don't get me started on bread (or lack there of); I could not take it. & is that the only meal you eat in a day? Anyway, I'm glad you are enjoying yourself. Cheers.
lol.
Condiments encourage overeating. If the food is of good quality, it tastes good. Sven Yrwind goes hundreds of days eating the same thing, once per day, without cooking.
GROOVY MAN STAY ALERT STAY SAFE 13 DEGREES CLOUDY IN SUMMERSIDE 830 AM WIND CALM
Sound like a great start
Cool
Which app are you using on your tablet in this video for AIS ?
Vesper 8000
@@RoversAdventure Thanks!
Did you watch Sven’s Yrvinds clip today. He mentioned your air system.
I get seasick just watching this video. Methinks I would not be a good sailor.
Much, much more than the best sailing channel, this is stunning in its production values and poetry of life! ❤️☮️🌈⛵️
Whats the range of positive stability for the Waverover? I notice that the class 5.8 has a range of positive figure of 140 degrees which is excellent. The Contessa 26 also had a very high number which I cant recall and likewise the contessa 32. Was self righting test done on Waverover? Are you running radar detector like the CARD?
AIS last south the baily where you now , ?
Even if you think it is safe in the cockpit area, you should always be wearing a safety harness in the open ocean. Especially since you are sailing solo. May you always have fair winds and following seas.
Amazing that both you and the other ship used and could understand semaphore.. Bit of a lost art these days. Must have been great to be recognized . The AIS would have given them your name...
Ever been to Montague harbor?
Awesome dude.
Your vessel looks very stable. How long is the keel?
each keel is about 3ft
The amount of time this guy has his camera pointed squarely at himself indicates he REALLY wants your attention.
