I was one of those fortunate 'kids' that attended Nate Archibald's free basketball clinic. This was while he was in Boston. Nate Archibald was the only Boston professional athlete (as my time as a kid) who held a free sports clinic in our neighborhood. We were all in awe of Tiny. Mr. Archibald preach the importance of education as the key to one's future. Thank you Mr. Archibald.

As a lifelong Kansas City Kings fan, I can confirm that Nate Archibald holds a special place in Kansas City sports history. Nate was so good that, at the time that 4 ABA teams were brought into the NBA, the New York Nets gave the Kings 2 number 1 draft picks for Nate. At the time,Dr. Played for the Nets and it was widely assumed that the acquisition of Nate would turn the Nets into title contenders. Unfortunately, the Nets lost Dr. J to the 76ers and the Nets were horrible (not because of Nate), and the two draft choices that the Kings got were the number 1 choices in two consecutive drafts . They turned out to be Otis Birdsong and Phil Ford. It could have been Magic after his freshman year but Magic’s father knew what the situation was in KC and told Magic to go back to Michigan State for another year. Even though no longer a KC King, I followed Nate’s career and was very happy that he got his Championships with the Celtics.
