I absolutely adore her new sound. Rabbits on the Run pushed me into doing some much needed soul searching, and I'm a better person because of it. I can't wait for her new album. It makes me want to cry when people can't see the beauty and artistry of her new music.
yea i totally agree with you... something about her new direction is just refreshing. i know she's a great songwriter and can make super catchy, popular songs if she wanted to but these new songs sound like she was able to be as free as she wanted to be its good to hear her not trying to put on a show for anyone i love this album
Too all the people saying that this song is scary, I'm not going to say that you don't know what you're talking about, because everyone is different and has their own tastes. This song is meant to be reflective, which can make some people nervous and uneasy. The music and lyrics are supposed to work together to help people contemplate and mourn the things that they can't change or have lost. As much as we may hate to admit it, loss and death are parts of life. To deny them will achieve nothing but frustration. The job of a musician, of a songwriter, is to help people understand and express their emotions. The music of this song may come across as creepy, but it's that way for a reason. It's meant to evoke a sense of longing and sadness for the things we no longer have or the things we can't control. I believe the lyrics, which make references to gravestones, old brick walls, and the sea, are to remind us that there are larger forces to life than just humanity. I think it's there to remind us that things like death and time will eventually overtake us, just like the sea can drag a person out and under. The point is not to try avoiding them, I think this song is trying to say. I think it's trying to say that the point of life is to allow yourself to feel, to make peace with your past and surroundings so that you can enjoy the time that you do have and make a difference. I'm an unabashed Vanessa Carlton fan, and in my opinion she does her job very well. Her music isn't all about partying, drinking, and sleeping around. It's about relevant issues that affect a person's life. Some of her music does have dark themes, but life itself is filled with both darkness and light. I think that what she tries to do is help her fans express those darker emotions in a way that they can feel and understand them. Of that, she is a master. :)
00:27 in the graveyard on Elizabeth, where no one ever goes. Kneeling, praying to a gravestone, but the gravestone never tells. Hear the bells Hear the bells
I absolutely love Hear the Bells, it's one of my favourites from the album. The video is far from what i expected it to be but that's not a bad thing, not at all. It only proves that Vanessa can still truly surprise you in a good way even if you've been a fan for years and years. I'm certain I'll never get tired of Vanessa and her music. Nessaholic 'till the end, baby!
I couldn't agree more. VC is one hell of an artist. Her lyrics are true, inspirational and creatively written. She deserves more recognition. Hope she won't stop writing best quality music :)
It's like seeking the solution to your problem: it's right there. I like the symbolism of the overlaps and transitions. People are blinded, and they misconstrue what they see when all along, their answers lie within.
Love the melody to when Vanessa sings, "Floating on the sea, stars are watching me." I've had this album for almost a year, and it's by far, one of my favourites.
I am 11 and she makes me remember the times when I was young she is the one that made me remember my old home that is broken niw after 5 years I finally went to see it agian to be honest it looked bad and dirty and my new home is clean and pretty but I felt like it was where I belonged cause I loved there for 6 years and really cried when I was in it I felt like it is home for me I even remember the smallest things it was a miracle to see my old home in its shape after 5 years no cleaning nothing I still listen to her.
this girl needs to make a real comeback now...I hope a Label like Shady, Strange or even Road Runner sign her...she's still got it...whatever it is but she's got it
This album, Rabbits On The Run, has got to be her best lyrically, sonically and artistically. I love it when a true 'artist' in music decides to create a concept record; they always come out with something truly amazing and captivating.
Her new album "Liberman" is coming out in October. The Blue Pool EP was released today with 4 songs from Liberman. It's amazing, you should check it out :)
+Dana Lavigne She had an Ecoptic pregnancy :( She also got married, and successfully had her first child this January! A girl :) She has an album reflecting this new stage in her life coming out in October.
You're what keeps me living with hopes of being successful with music. For years now you've inspired me and I love every single song and work of yours, and I always will. :) Thank you Vanessa.
I honestly really really like this song it's modern but feels old and really peacefull and the sound of the guitar and the piano is really catchy and the imagery really suits its.
Its 2017 and you last music video was 5 years ago what's happening....i love you music....it make me really sad to see you leave...it does not matter if you have 100million fans or just 10... please come back
Finally! I have been waiting for a video for this song since last christmas!! I hope Vanessa keeps on making videos for her songs. Hope she makes one for "I don't want to be a bride" and "London"! More power to you, VC!
Okay I have to correct my younger self. She was an incredible dancer. Still is. I literally can’t believe she was that amazing at pointe at such a young age. I really love this song. This album became a bit of a bible to me when I was 17-18 and feeling lost. The answers are always within
I could play this song all day and not get tired of it. What I love most about this song is how the piano and her voice sound is how mystical it is almost crossing the New Age genre. Sad how in modern society people rather watch Justin Bieber over anybody that is a true artist.
Don't worry to much about the waves , just make some noise and you be fine . Remember this saying i catched some long while ago "Everything, light, sound, air, translated into waves of waves , waves of waves ...
Clearly, we disagree on the style of some of her songs, as well as what makes a song "unique". My favorites from her are actually "London" and "Home". I guess we just factor in different elements when we listen to her songs, and that's absolutely fine; we're both obviously big fans of her work. :) My point is she has been poorly marketed ever since "White Houses" didn't debut as well as her label had hoped. We all know her music is better than all of the mundane noise you hear on radio today.
Nah, it's not "just a copy". Vanessa Carlton has been around a while in the music industry, and her style has just adapted, matured therefore changed through time as every artist's does. She hasn't copied Lana Del Rey, it's simply that it does sound similar. But in this day and age, with the huge range of music out there, it's near impossible to find anything that is truly "original" or "unique".
These abandoned UA-cam channels make me sad to see them disappear 😭
no Her new album is coming in a few days! She has recently had a child and it is a girl. She is married. The new album will reflect her present life.
+Sasha Banks is ugly but hot its been 5 damn months since you said that and you said in a few days shes like dead
It's gonna summer of 2016, not 2015
Double Fap Gaming Wait it's she dead...?

i love this album
This my Favorite Song by Vanessa. It has a Lonely, Empty, Despairing Quality to it. Just like Life itself.
one of her very best, an exceptional song that i never ever tire of hearing. her work is so deep and ethereal
Hear the bells. See the bells. Want the bells. Be the bells...we love you Vanessa, you're an AMAZING artist :)
this is so pure in sound to me, when most everything else sounds harsh and ugly. I just put it on repeat to keep all that noise out.🔆

She doesn't honor the fame anymore, just the music.

This song sounds very familiar and i can't think what other song it reminds me of. It's driving me mad.
Easy on the ears and the eyes.
I LOVE IT!!! It may seem creepy but still XD
Current takes me out what will be will be...
