That period thing is beyond ridiculous! I happen to know a lot of girls who have got their periods at 9 or 10. I don't know how often it happens, but it does. It's not exactly something that can be controlled. It is going to happen! Hell, if it was me, I'd fuc**ing just bleed all over the place and tell them to go to hell! Idaho has hospitals no longer offering childbirth care because doctors are leaving. They don't want to be arrested for caring for patients. Florida will have a hard time finding teachers soon.

That happened to my stepsister too, though I think she was a couple years older. I don't know why some parents don't discuss it with their daughters. It's not like ignoring the issue will prevent it. In your case, you were probably way earlier than expected. But this should also be covered in school's health class.

Right. Not everyone’s parents teach their children these things, and they need to know what’s happening and why. The average age range for onset of the period is 10-15. They also need to be aware of things that should not be happening, such as inappropriate touching.

As a teacher, I have experienced students getting their period for the first time at school. There was one that wasn't even told about this by her family and was therefore quite hysterical. Even those girls who have had it before, need to explain why they need to be dismissed during class for the toilet (an exception to many school's rule of not being allowed to leave class). Menstruation is a normal part of the human body and what it does. So what's next? We can't talk about what children do after the toilet (eg: washing hands and hygiene) or what they do when they have a cold and sneeze? If bleeding is to become a taboo subject, then most of First Aid would be banned.
It's like Christmas Eve, only I'm actually excited!

Perfect way to lose your kid forever when they become legal age is by treating them as property
As an elementary School Nurse, I had girls as young as 2nd grade start their period. The average was 4th grade. I had to call parents and get permission to talk to their child but typically the mother would take it from the notification. I was available for questions. The health class that taught was only provided to students with parent permission in writing. By 5th grade it was often too late but the classroom instruction righted many wrong information!
