    They missed the story Seth once told about the cheerleader on a parade float who saw a baby in a stroller that was choking, in the crowd watching the parade - even the mom didn't notice. The cheerleader hopped off the float, performed the Heimlich manoeuvre on the baby, saving his life, then ran back to the float and climbed back on.

      Seriously?? I’m going to have to see if they’ve ever previously posted that story. How brilliant!! (Notice all these “kickass” stories are about women? Seth is so enlightened, on top of being so comedic, brainy *and* handsome!)

    • @ClownScreams
      @ClownScreams 7 місяців тому +12

      For the love of god, never perform the heimlich manoeuvre on a baby. Their organs are too fragile and you’ll kill them. I can’t say whether the rest of the story is true but that bit can’t have happened.
      If a baby is choking, give them a pat on the back while they’re over your knee and move on to two finger chest compressions if that doesn’t work.

      Notice that none of these women used, had, or needed any kind of firearm.
      It sort of reminded me of an incident that happened back in the eighties when I was working in a small beer and wine store that also sold lottery tickets. As I was waiting on one customer, the man behind him jumped up on the counter and stole a book of scratch tickets from the rear shelf and ran out the door. The owner's wife saw it happen, and chased him down the street, but he had a head start and outran her. She came back to the store and looked through the trash can where the last ticket sold from that book had been discarded. That gave her the serial number of the first ticket he had stolen, then she took the number of the next book waiting to be sold. That gave her the last number he had stolen. Then she reported the crime, giving the police every number he had taken. While she was waiting for the police to arrive, She went on the phone and called every place that sold scratch-offs that she could find and gave them those numbers. Sure enough, within a few hours, the thief turned up at one of the places she had called with one of those tickets, whereupon he was promptly arrested.
      People, you don't need a gun. You need a brain.

    • @deathangel7335
      @deathangel7335 6 місяців тому

      That is an excellent point, and an excellent story. Kudos to that clever woman who thought things through.
      Sadly I think it also points out why all these gun fetishists are so terrified of not having guns. How would they solve their problems if they couldn't use violence or intimidation? Look at Boebert: she'd rather see more school kids get shot than give up access to an AK-47. Do you think she could solve a problem using her brain? What about the people who vote for her? @@emmitstewart1921

      I still cant help think the writers strike is quite advantageous for the far-right medias misinformation campaign.
      SO much has happened and with the writers on strike the far-right are better able to dominate the narrative without the influential satire to keep it in check.
      And like many others I also tend to trust satire more then actual news sources for an opinion so going without said opinions while trump is prosecuted and the world falls apart is quite trying.
      On another note: writers as a whole tend to be progressive and during the strike the general content released on streaming networks as a whole as taken a turn towards conservative as the conservative writers do not care for standing firm with other writers only themselves and as such will keep churning out their garbage no matter what.
      So all in all the writers strike has actually had a much bigger impact on progressive ideals and in many ways puts doubt in young progressive minds about how free they are from the influence of big money and it's ability to silence peoples voices.

      As someone above me pointed out about it being a man who grabbed that server’s butt. The car thief was a woman, yet most of these stories showcased women being kickass.
      I shouldn’t judge women as a whole based on that car thief, just like I shouldn’t judge men as a whole based on the guy who grabbed that woman. Like everything else, there will always be good with the bad.

    • @Dutch3DMaster

      But it's for a very good cause. While I'm not a US resident so I can only see what's put out on UA-cam and I usually watch Last Week Tonight to an almost religious degree, when I found out why there were no new clips of that show I was like "Oh yea, let them feel it, let this be the strike that ends it once and for all!"
      While unions are not as uncommon in The Netherlands as they are in the US (like it's more rare for a profession not to have one you know), I think the current decisions that make the deals become reality now might be a guide for other countries who might be up for facing the same thing (after all, AI is going to threaten writers in The Netherlands just as well, and we might have better worker protection, but that's about it).

    • @kieranhair37
      @kieranhair37 6 місяців тому

      @@Dutch3DMaster If the deal they reached becomes influential in other countries, then other countries are fucked. The reality is that the deal they reached seems great to people who are already on a show, but there's a very strong chance it will bar new writers from entering the workforce and will make it harder for even some current writers to find new gigs when their current shows end. Most of the protections they think they won can be very easily worked around. And except in very rare cases, networks and streaming services will likely put in smaller episode orders than they did previously. Also, the current writers who do remain protected will only have those protections for a limited time. The deal they reached is strictly temporary.

    My grandma was out with my mom to a boulevard around a beach when an exhibitionist exposed himself. She chased him for about 200 meters while hitting him continuously with her umbrella, which was completely broken at the end. If you messed with her, you were in for trouble. Can still recall there was some criminal stuff going on around her home, and how she joined the group of men trying to find the criminals who climbed into the building, destined to give them an ass-beating (police found them before they did, or as she said against the boys now in the hands of the officers "You boys are lucky they found you first!")
    I was heartbroken when she died, she was lovely. She lived a long, reasonably healthy life (she was 97 when she died).

    OMG! I have missed you guys soooo much! I laughed my ass off watching this and wow I miss a Closer Look and Seth and the writers! I have been binge watching past shows and geez man! I can't even tell you how hard I laugh and I keep thinking how much material the writers have had to work with these past six months and haven't been able to throw Seth's way!!! I pray the strike ends and that the actors, writers, ect get the respect they deserve and that we get Seth and the other tonight shows back ASAP, because I need me some A CLOSER LOOK pronto bono!!!

Also, I freaking LOVE that y’all are doing Strike Force Five to pay you staff while the strike is ongoing.
