I made a sandwich for an old man yesterday. He told me about his music career and asked if I’m an artist. I told him I draw and he gave me lengthy advice to never give up. He said even when it’s really difficult keep going. My grandma told me the same thing the day before. How can I not take their advice? I hope everyone takes their advice as well and shares their art with people. Even if your parents or your partner tells you not to. Make time for art.
Always make time. I love that
daydream&doodle if your partner tells u not to share ur art DROP THEM LIKE A HOT POTATO
Been an artist my whole life but that is not how I make my money. And my money helps me become a better artist. The other never give up story
My mom thought so it wasn't great she use to criticize me for doing art what I love
@@xboxswitch9457 why would you say that
This was inspiring! Needed to see this!! Currently fighting the urge to quit my 9-5. Seeing signs all around me. But I keep saying, “I have bills to pay”
I cant say bills aren't important because they are forsure the only thing that still make me question this path, but when you aren't at work just create create create. Thats how I got to where I am today
Yah, do both. This is important. Find whatever it takes inside of you. Then when you feel comfortable, drop the job. It’ll be the best move you ever make. BE your own job. This is the only way to be free,
Well, it’s an easier way to be free, You could just take all your clothes off and run into the woods.
Same here, but the ONLY problem is my so-called 9-5, DOES NOT PAY enough for me to live! :(
Mainly the reason why I would be doing any art on the side is to try to get some side income going in the new year, otherwise, I will likely die in the current job if something does not change, soon. Oh, I kid you not, pretty serious about the dying bit, stay too long in a job that literally keeps you poor, sick with no upward mobility, the employer does not care if you die, no healthcare, no ability for more hours and you will be in a bad way. I would totally encourage anyone to try following their passion in life or whatever you are really good in, as you have only one life to live, you will age and have tons of regrets if you try to follow what society tells you and live your life to please others. Creatives do not "fit well" into a stereotype career/job, we're best left to our own devices just to do our own thing, whatever that may be. May 2020 bring you happiness, to your success!

Me too but I feel that if you were to make art for someone else it might become like any other job -i.e. tedious and not really fulfilling. I'm starting to think that being your own boss is really key
Shouzeegestof exactly
@@Shouzeegestof Exactly. If you plan to make a living out of anything, you're always going to need a boss--yourself, or someone else.

If you’re going to work hard, do it for yourself..
Ezria Robinson agreed and well said! Most jobs are not careers for people these days, they’re ONLY a paycheck. There’s no loyalty towards employees at most companies so you give them what they ask, don’t give too much of yourself but just enough to be of value to keep a job. You give 110% to your dreams and your passion in life!
100% agree. Started a cleaning business with that mindset

I am a writer. I just quit my pizzaria job where I was a kitchen supervisor, in order to work on a novel. The anxiety this brings with it is extremely heavy on me. Today it is especially hard, I am sitting in a coffee shop tripping about being unemployed and having hypothetical internal conversations with people justifying how I am actually not a bum. This video is EXACTLY what I needed to see today. Thank you for your content.
I lost my job a few years ago and it was a godsend, I currently work as a dog walker while trying to start my own brand and I’ve never been happier. can’t wait to get to the point where I can have my own store and work completely for myself. Good luck on your art business adventure!
thanks so much and best of luck to you as well. Plug your brand in the comments so people can check it out!
Best of luck to you, may 2020 bring you everything that you need the year to be! I'm thinking of quitting my job and just doing a gig at the moment because I've met people this year that make 4-5 times over my pathetic income just from a gig. I work a legit job, at a legit location, but for a terrible company! I'm dying working for breadcrumb wages, doing something I've come to deeply resent.
Alexgrime_x Is my insta if y’all wanna check me out.
Zofia Janeczek thank you!!! Do what feels right but definitely always have a backup plan. Good luck in 2020 and beyond.
Wish you good luck, peace and happiness in what you pursue
I just quit my full time job, I’m super depressed and want to do art full time to have a fulfilling life and be my own boss, I have savings to try to work on it full time and I might get another part time job if my art career is slow lol. Just so lost on how to start
I’m also from New Jersey, from May’s Landing and now in Florida lol. I followed you on Instagram hopefully I’ll grow my career and yours will keep growing larger. Super inspiring
@@princeofpockii1844 Hey thanks for watching! Im actually going to be starting up a series where I talk about certain tips that make freelance work possible. For now I'd say that the best place to start is waking up everyday at the same time and doing your best to maintain the same schedule you would when you were working. If you put the same 8 hours into art that you were putting into a job, your skills will improve sooooo fast. During that 8 hours you might not fully want to work on art, so use that time when you aren't inspired to work on the business side of things (growing social media, reaching new clients, etc.) and you'll get to see growth everyday. As for the depression, as you said already, YOU HAVE YOUR WHOLE LIFE! You're young and you've already managed to save enough to pursue a dream and thats worth celebrating everyday! As long as you're willing to focus on the goal ahead, and don't let anything interfere, you'll be just fine.
Prince of Pockii so how’s it going??
Me too it's making me crazy
Prince of Pockii Believe in yourself. Keep going. You won’t regret it.
Seeing this video was a serious wake up call for me. Really weird that I just saw it, because I was just talking earlier to my boyfriends mom about not wanting to work for a big company that doesn't truly care about their customers or employees, and I feel like so much of my time and life is wasted working for 10 hours a day at a job that I cry going to every morning. I am an artist too, and I know that my purpose is to create and help people see the world from a colorful and beautiful perspective, I feel so proud of you for accomplishing what I dream of, even though this is the first video of yours I've watched. I need to use social media, but I'm so scared of getting sucked into the bullshit of it all, the memes and brainwash, I don't like any of that, I don't know where to start, but you've helped in ways that you don't know by being the artist my family said would never make it. Thank you so much
*The universe is LITERALLY "cha-ching-ing" you on, to continue doing what you do! Btw, normal is boring.. don't ever become normal please.*
PERIAAAAAAAAAADT
Vow nice one!!
My exact thought regarding with my current life
U no wot? I am 65 and starting to get a pension, so I have time now to paint. Hence seeing youtube a lot for info about painting your vid pops up. I have enjoyed all my non - art jobs, I do not feel I have wasted my years ,but do I wish someone had given me serious life advice during my school/university study period ? Hell yes! I am now doing what I should have done 50 years ago. But my parents and my school were all the time pressing education and guided me into the safe non art world! And I did not have the balls to fight them. the world was also very different then with so few options to sell etc. Every arty person considering the non art careers v art should see this video. Congrats!
That's the thing, we now have so many options to sell and make a business for ourselves. Hope everything goes well for you!
Congratulations on finally doing what you love, to your success! I too was duped into believing that getting a "real" and "proper" job would be my way to afford to live in this world. Sadly, the tables have not been in my favor my entire life, me pleasing others and following a non-creative path has led me to years of suffering, pain, and now a job where I make near improvement level income. The ONLY time when I have ever made enough money to not be poor has been when I was in the very few jobs over the years that allowed me to use my creativity, my God-given talents. By listening to others, letting other people use their intuition to so-called help and guide me in life, I have managed to cut off one arm and one foot in the process. It's hard to stand on one leg and use one arm in this life! I'm tired of living for others and I'm tired of being crippled due to society putting constraints on me and others trying to place me into a box, where I will never fit! If you're a creative person, this is in your core, your blood, your bones, your DNA, it is who and what you are and you can not change this no matter what path others tell you that you must take! NO! TAKE THE PATH THAT YOU WANT...MAKE YOUR OWN WAY!
@@ASMRyouVEGANyet And for u 2!

I love how straight forward, chilling with an artist style ya got going on. I subbed for the chill guy who likes art as much as me!
I found this video at the right time. My 9-5 job jas been really dragging me down and I have not been motivated to work on art for about a month. I have been wanting to focus hard and become a fulltime artist in a couple of years, and this video has helped me re focus on my goals. thank you for the great video!
Chantell Lary glad you liked it. Use any spare time you have to create. Even if you’re still working a different job, art will always be there to be that therapeutic escape

I’m glad I found this. Lately I’ve been feeling like regular jobs are just not for me, so I started selling paintings again. It’s pretty slow right now but hopefully I can save up enough to be a full time artist.
I hope you're selling well and enjoying what you're doing
Watching this is so motivating. Thanks for sharing! :D

You're very inspiring to me, dude. Thanks for sharing your experience! Time to to get back to the drawing board.
Thank you for sharing your experience transitioning to full time artist! I’m in a similar position because I’ve been working in food service/management for about 3 1/2 years now. I’ve stopped making art for the past year or so and it feels awful. I’m currently giving myself some time to heal and get healthy on all levels so I can really start making art again. I hope to be as organized and grounded as you along the way! :)
This has honestly inspired me so much! I’m currently working full time as a janitor and I hate it! I constantly wake up depressed and wanting to quit my job so bad. I decided to spend the whole of this year starting up my own Art and Skateboarding clothing brand which has launched, but business has gone slow so far and its really hard to make new products without money from sales. I have decided that next year I am going to fully work on improving my art skills and knowledge and work towards making art and designing clothes for a living and quit my job! I can’t wait! :D
heck yeah super awesome seeing other skateboarders finding my stuff!
I love this video so much thank you for making it!!!! You are an inspiration and yes the universe totally has your back 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

So glad to see this. I've been working in a kitchen for seven years. Despite slacking off in recent years, art has always been my passion. Recently I've felt lost and struggled with direction. I've also went through some changes trying to spend more time on creating. I don't go to school I'm just working full time and this was very inspiring in that you've worked hard and eventually made it to a financially stable place despite going to school and working. I'm definitely going to buckle down and take my creation more seriously in hopes of similar success. Thank you
I never even thought of putting my art out on Etsy, might just do that!

You have no idea how much I needed to hear this. I’m happy you are doing so well.
I'm glad you found meaning in this video. good luck with whatever you pursue
Thanks for sharing your story. Congratulations on your success! I'm sorta in the same position with wanting to do art full time. I'm currently at a job that am not happy with. For as long as I remember art is all I wanted to do. This year I have really been ramping it up and trying to put in more time so I can do something similar to what your doing. I'd like to do commissions or sell my art one day when I am comfortable enough with it. And all I want to do is make a living. Just pay my bills, no need to be rich or the best. I don't want to go to a job I hate and be miserable always. Btw also from jersey...Old Bridge NJ
Where are you from in jersey?
Im from the salem county area but I stay in Ocean City pretty often as well. Honestly thats the best mentality to have. I'm not rich at all but Im pretty happy that I've had the oppurtunity to do this fulltime
This is where how the use of language is bad: "self-employment is dangerous". You're feeding that energy onto yourself and your business as well as others who watch your video or are influenced by you. This was made in 2019, but we should have an idea that we don't need to wait for money from someone else to receive financial abundance in our life. I'm planning to change this mindset for myself in 2020
very well said
Absolutely Elena! Employment at the mercy of a corporation is even more dangerous. Think about all the folks that lost jobs and were laid off during Covid because it wasn’t sustainable. I feel if anything self employment and figuring out how you can make sustainable income that is recession proof is the true definition of sovereignty
This was so inspirational! I love seeing other artists talk about their journies to full time artists.
Inspirational. I appreciate your story and enjoyed watching the whole video.
I am literally here packing my Etsy orders with the same thing constantly going through my head over weather I should make art my full time job when I see this video in my feed. I keep thinking I could be making a huge mistake if I quit my regular job, but I might regret my life if I don’t pursue art full time .
After watching this, tbh, I still don’t know. But I’m glad I’m not alone.
Track out your spending and see if your art income can cover all of it
This is such an awesome journey you've shared. As a freelance graphic artist, it's very inspiring to hear success stories like this. I've just more recently started making a lot more art for myself and sharing on my IG and am planning on starting my own online store with original paintings, prints and stickers to start. Seeing this has definitely inspired me to keep pushing myself and some day join the ranks and become a full time, self employed artist. Thanks space! Subbed & followed on IG.
heck yeah thank you! I wish you the best of luck with your pursuits
The Universe is definitely conspiring to have you continue making art. Wow I'm glad you listened. It's really great to just listen to someone talk about their goals and to hear you say where you're going with such confidence. I believe you will have a Spvcecase superstore next to Target and Walmart haha, if it's really what you want. Thanks for sharing this man.
Keep goin bro. Motivation right here!
the universe is guiding you into art! trust the universe!
Im planning on it!
I think I need to go back to art, which I loved and was pursuing before chronic illness and demanding shiftwork with passive aggressive coworkers came along, I have so many works unfinished and collecting dust.
You should definitely start working on them in your spare time!
Started again today, began prepping what will be a jewelry box
This was nice and motivating, thank you. I'm in the process of learning and I'm trying to launch a business asap. ♥️
this is so great, thanks for posting this!
Oh man, I recently left my part time job that was stressing me out to focus on my art and I have been making money but it's starting to slow down and that brought my depression back and for days now I've been thinking "Oh god I'm an idiot what am I do I should just get a job again" I mean who knows, maybe for me in particular I should but hearing this made me at least hopeful that if I work at it harder I'll be able to make a brand name for myself. I know it takes time and it wont be easy but man after a while you get scared
I still question myself all the time. There's nothing wrong with going to a stable job to keep your mind sane. Idk if I'll do art forever but right now I'm just enjoying it while I can
Don’t quit, and more importantly, don’t EVER listen to the critics. 😀
Even if I stop doing this fulltime at some point, I'll never stop creating!
Use criticism creatively, to get better at what you do. Don’t take it personally, use it to grow 💡
Very inspiring. God bless you and hopefully it all continues to go well for you

not just make a living, how do you deal with insurance health medical dental
That was my thought. This guy looks like he is in his moms basement. He also looks like he's 19 to 22. Not the best advise to just drop everything and do art.
I have 4 kids, I provide medical, dental, and the main source of income. Fighting depression I couldnt keep my head above water. Do art to do art. That's my rule. If you do it for money you will lose every time.
@@ryanalaska8570 I wouldn't say basement it looks like a bedroom of some sort
Clearly if you have 4 children and have to provide for them, then this isn't for you. It's not for everyone in fact.
