    ```
    Pattern
    "Ears"
    Slip knot and Ch 2, slst in 2nd ch from hook.
    Slip Knot and Ch 2 and Sc 8 in 2nd Ch from hook
    R1: Inc around [16]
    R2-5: Sc around [16]
    R6: For this round work in the Front Loop Only (FLO) *in next stitch slst, then in next stitch (Sc, hdc, Sc). Repeat from * 7 more times. (this will create 8 frills).
    R7: in the Back Loop Only (BLO) from round 5, invisible decrease (or Sc2tog) x8 [8]
    Stop here and work the face (and ears if you are doing the dumbo octo). If you are using safety eyes, then clip them in now. I prefer using glue at the end. Then stuff the piece.
    Cut the yarn leaving a few inches for finishing off. Using the yarn needle, pick up and pull the front loops of the remaining 8 stitches. Pull tight. Knot and hide the yarn tail through the piece.
    I was doing this at my grandmothers house in the living room, when I heard an extremely loud vibrating kind of sound. And I heard someone say/yell something. I immediately jumped out my seat, and wearily walked over to the family room fearing what I might see. And I walked in, after panicking. Because I did yell like “are you okay?” Or like “what’s going on?!” Something like that. Then, I walked in and found out apparently it was the fire alarm because there was a bit of steam from someone taking a bath/shower. But oh my gosh, scared the life out of me. And I went to check my sister, to see her reaction, AND SHE WAS SOUND ASLEEP! I still haven’t finished the crochet before I wrote this, but I had to let someone know since this just happened. Love the project so far!
      @@SphynxCrochet When people ask for it bigger I usually recommend a chunkier yarn and hook that way you don't have to change the pattern. Other ways you would have to adapt the pattern and add more sets of increases and mess around with the combos of each frill to add up to 8 again.
    • @FalseBubbles
      @FalseBubbles  4 місяці тому
      The pattern would change in that case! you wouldn't end up with the same amount of frills and would have to make up a new pattern! I would double up on yarn with a bigger hook and use the same pattern!
    Nice octopus, and tentacles are sooo easy to make compared to some other patterns. I've been crocheting for a week and only came to video to see what half doble crochet is. But it seems like you use some different technique, not "yarn over"(cause your yarn ends up on the right side of your hook after the "yarn over" part instead of left). Threw me off as a beginner, not standard. Maybe it was mentioned in the begging, I don't know, in that case sorry
    And I've seen this joke going around that when you start crocheting you have to ask yourself if you can count, and if you're ready for the answer to be no
    I thought it was just a silly little joke
    Today, at the ripe age of 16 I learned that no, I don't know how to count
    You can actually make this completely no sew. Just start by finishing the octopus first (without making ears beforehand) and then insert your hook into the stitch you want your ears to be in and chain 2, sl st. Then sl st back into the stitch you inserted your hook to start the ears, cut off the yarn and hide the ends. Hope that makes sense bc thats the way i did it and it worked 😊
