  • Well I had to keep going to find why this Cub Cadet is smoking so badly. Following along in this zero turn series of repair. #cubcadet #zeroturn #kawasaki #engine

I would bore the cylinders, change the piston and connecting rods, those don't look right, and clean the crankshaft and the in side of the engine thoroughly and over haul it.

Your probably right. So far this mowing season, I haven't added any oil. Cross my fingers.

The air filter on these engines has to be changed regularly or the rings ware fast and have to be replaced 😢

You need to measure the cylinders to see if they are in specs and straight and round top to bottom.

Yes with better tools. But for the low hours and thr huge ring end gap I could see the problem.

By the looks of the rods it seems they never changed the oil eather
I would replace both of them 😊

Ring gap location pretty much is a red herring. The rings spin on the piston and if you had pulled it down 5 minutes later, it's likely they would have been clocked completely differently (assuming they weren't stuck).
Conventional logic says that you assemble the motor with the rings clocked at 3, 9, 6, but after almost zero runtime, that won't be the same.
