Great video! I’m just wondering what urushi goes on top of that layer? Thanks

depends on what you want to achive. You can go with tamenuri ishme (transparent layers of kijiro, or aka roiro or shuai), or same colour, or different colour and sanding. Options are endless

I wrote an article on that - starting with urushi. Look at my website : tamenuri.com/how-to-start-with-urushi/

Those scribo bottles look great! I love that you can stack! How was Rome? The technique looks wonderful!

YES - but having one makes no sense ;) I need more ;) ROME - empty. Really. But felt safe there - really serious approach to wearing masks etc.

Tamenuri Studio i’d love to visit someday! I had this crazy retirement idea, that I’d start a European and japan fountain pen tour! The base urushi, is this used for maki-e?

In this case, what i called “base” was actually a middle layer (nakanuri). I am not sure what you mean “used in maki-e”? In maki-e a lot of different types of urushi is used, including this one
