I've actually helped somebody put down laminate tiling and I was told we start in the center of the room because rooms aren't perfectly square, And its better looking to cut all of the outside tiles in half than to have 10% of a tile along one side. And it looking straight is important.
@OfficialStuffPlus You can plan out this game, what you have to do is place the foundation areas while paused. They don't use your money to build it until they place each piece one by one :)
The tiling thing was what you were thinking - you tile in the centre of the wall so that it's straight, else when you go from one side to the other it's crooked by the time you get there (no house is perfectly straight XD)
You tile in the center of the room first so that you have four 90 degree angles to move out from and when you get to a wall or an "obstacle" you'll have to cut some of the tile or what ever it is your laying down.... tile, self adhesive tiles, or what ever you wish. your right though all walls are not straight or level or anything else.
WOW man, that game looks so damn cool! I remember there was a mall game. I think it was Mall tycoon but it was not very good. This one looks way better with a better system.

I'm Not Normal! And I'm Proud Of It! And? Rimworld had completely different mechanics, goals and genre. The only thing that was similar was the art style. While ABITM has a similar art style as well. I am not saying that ABITM is bad, it just has inspired by a game that isn't what I thought people got inspired by.
I actually not just thought but read Wall... thinking it might be a trump parody.... clicking, seeing the title bigger, realizing, jumping to 15%-ish into the video, seeing it is jsut similar, but not equal-ish to rim world/prison architect.... made me chuckle though...
HOLY FUCK!... I watched till the 10minute point, then you went past the clothing supplier like... 8 times... while saying "oo where is the clothing" ... oh.. my..fucking god.

You do tiles starting in the center because no floor is exactly square, so you can cut the edges (near walls) and it's less noticeable.

No, its so the tile will be/look straight because no walls are perfectly straight and if you base the tile pattern off the wall it will be crooked.
