The cyclone seems just like a more offensive unit. If you have a stronger army it OWNS, if you have a weaker army, it BLOWS! Thermy's micro is so good that he usually has a stronger army, so it shows off the cyclone well.

The cyclones seem to fight like phoenixs now, you always want to be attack moving all the time either chasing or retreating at all times always locking on and doing damage. Attack upgrades will be really good on them for mech vs mech or vs protoss.
I'm curious if a raven or 2 would help the cyclones take fights much easier with the AA missiles. Just theory crafting.

Actually curious how viable it might be to rely on cyclones as the core army unit and mixing in some support units to help them not get surrounded/give them space to micro like Liberators (now that cyclone aren't as gas heavy anymore probably doable), Widowmines (probably easy to flex into the composition since it builds lots of factories anyways), or maybe even Concussive Shell Marauders (who can tank some of the a-move things like banelings/chargelots while also helping with keeping stuff in range for the cyclones).
I think cyclone pairing medivacs with hellbats and ghosts make a better pairing than tanks. You can do drops with hellbats and some healing at the same time.
Yeah maybe some air units to punish no antiair and lure out either hydras (which arent great against hellions) or mutas/corrupters (which can be dealt with with ghost and cyclone).

I think you need to try squeeze some additional value or threat saturation a single starport for a raven or double banshee play. The extra scouting, harass, creep killing potential and defence against the Zerg ground army will allow you to make a more comfortable transition. Another potential is to play a 'look and see' ghosts would have been good but to be honest for a while marauders would have given you some value with concussive and just to pound the roaches. I think the cyclones are interesting but I am wondering whether it would be better just to try and get an 8-10 count just to follow a bio/mine wave rather than have them as a legit solo backbone. I think the only way the cyclone becomes appealing is if you figure out a well timed build order where for a decent period you think the amount of cyclones you build will trade up in value.

Good games. Yeah i think the tanks are good for defending so a couple well places worth. But in push with all the surroundings and being in zerg areas where they are more fast is risky friendly fire and Its the sieging unsieging is time consuming and cut the Flow of your fast harrasment, I think the ghost carried the fights and the cyclones are a nice partner to snipe any detector try or air units, they are just like AA move towers, really op. Just spread the ghost in groups in case they get detected and rushed. I think if you add some banshees to the equation you have it in late for sieging enemy base, to kill aoe stuff like colosus, tanks. Or you just can try multi nuke.
Running back to unseiged tanks with SCVs should work just fine. Maxed out pfs, turrets,and bunkers can get you through the midgame pretty easy. I love turrets. They scan all the time. Don't cost supply. Shoots air units and act as an early warning system.

Hey so I'm suuuper casual at Starcraft (played the campaigns & coop on brutal, but that's it, never on the ladder)
But I've always wondered why Terran mech players almost never repair units. I like having 2-3 SCVs on a group not too far behind my army & keep everything repaired.
I know right. I like to SCVs patrolling forward , defensive positions. I think the building armor upgrade is the most underrated early game upgrade. You can instantly drop 10 SCVs from a flying CC. Imagine flying 10 barracks and 3 full CCs into the enemy base.

Can you counter blink from protoss by just using few ghosts with cyclones, with them using EMPs?
I feel like all the Terrans just were trained microing the old cyclones at their old range and until they learned to micro them at their new range, they were going to say they suck.

They are slow without the upgrade and this is mostly why people complain about it, because most of the time cyclones were used very early but know you cant because you do not have the upgrade. So I guess early proxy voidray should be tough to hold

Concentrate fire is important. Airdrop Marauders would be awesome. Slow the enemy and tank the damage

Appropriately the games were on 'a-cyclone' map (Alcyone)
as a bronze league nub, i feel that cyclones should be a dps back line mixed in with a hellbat front line against zerg, eventually adding thors. that army covers ground and air
The hellbat are too slow because they are infantry without stimpacks if the enemy split his army in 2 or 3 like a good zerg player and worst, they play in his creep zone, you gonna get surrounded, fast kiting with cyclones and losing the firebats alone.
Challenge: incrementally zone out and map control with siege tank and mass turret to GM?
I’m far from a pro but the timing I like is 5 mins starting to poke however usually I have a couple hellions to add meat. Maybe a widow mine?

Not really really relevant past talking about the Cyclone, but I am curious about if it should have tag changes and if it'd be good or bad balance wise.
Long story short, it has 0 armor and the armored tag, when normally it should be light I believe. For balancing purposes, I think it'd be a pretty big buff to change it to light because Marauders, Siege Tanks, Stalkers and Void Rays would all do less damage to it. On the flip side, Hellions and Adepts would hit significantly harder. I believe banelings as well? But I don't know about countering Cyclones with Banelings lmao

@@MerlynMusicman I don't think so? Honestly not too sure if any units have had neither, only "example" is creep tumors which had neither but light was added, but a bit different than an actual unit.
hi Mark, its already better 😉 have to admit. But see few upgrades here: 1 st game - everything good - just try to divide pulled workers half for attack, half for repair. take few scv and shift click on cyclons, another few shift click on another wich are no full. I know - its hard, but i belief you can do it. Also i think you could start 11 a bit earlier. In fight #2 vs zerg you can mix cyclons and hellions from beginnig and pull workers any way in any atack. Just dont stop to make workers for that. Good luck and more victories for you!!
or vs zerg make part of hellions as hellbats and medivacs as continue to heal hellbats and scvs. make sure dont stop make cyclons and upgrades. You will do it ✌️
What you do is, make medivacs and ravens, and pull the boys. Let the SCV/medivac tank for the cyclones, use the SCV to autorepair.

The medivacs are really paper and easy countered with some hydras. And scv are good for a break repair, but for a battle not good and enough. Is chaotic have them in the group while your are facing the enemy army. And a raven is an energy dependant, if the match gets more long you have insta problems.
I think it may work though. Silver strat challenge lol😂

That guy made a big mistake: attacking in one place each wave. If he had moved the locust attacks using Nydus, he could have hit top and bottom, making it impossible for you to concentrate your defense... but NOOOooo... he head butted you over and OVER and over...

I liked the old cyclone a lot, they were a lot of fun to use with that crazy range + scans.. The new one.. well, I win more, and not only did I actually beat a protoss but I did it with mech. And I get a lot more salt... But overall I don't like it.
I think the Cyclone is worse TvP but better TvZ, not in terms of effectiveness, but in how fun they are to use. It's kind of a wash on TvT, really.

Is the new Cyclone now one of the units with lowest damage per attack? It also dies sooo fast >.< the amor is made of butter xD
Base damage is now 11. There's lots of units with less than that, it just feels weak because it was 20 before the patch.
Was I wrong avout the new cyclone? No, no I was not.

Cyclone is just an average unit which has high utility in the early and mid game phase provided the player use in combination with other units, pure cyclones is a swift recipe to dissaster
What you missed in this episode is using cyclone drops to kill workers. I have seen many use it to great success. Tge new cyclone is actually a great harassment unit
what makes the whole point of the new patch void. Like, the point was to stabilize PvT, indirectly buff P, etc. With all the usually nice new changes, they didnt address the biggest issue PvT had: mid-game pushes, all-ins and various harrasement options with openers super easy to execute for T, to counter which P needs a tight build order and excellent scouting - all when P is the least forgiving race with the worst scout. Instead, they gave T a Cyclone rework none asked for, which created even more openers and harrasement options. Good job balance council.
They are cheaper and easier to make now. There Might be some new strategies on these cars.

Cyclone, to me, is supposed to fill the role that Hydras fill. Yet Hydras are so, so much more efficient, as you've proven recently. Really unfortunate, because I think Cyclones are cool.

Should be good by now. UA-cam compression SUUUCCCKKKSSSSS. Side effect of it is when you upload something it takes a bit to clean it up. You're just faster than the rest of us :)

Tanks just blows late game. Everything late game counters them beside TvT. I am always puzzled at why tanks are 3 supply. The whole concept of supply is to decourage people from massing a unit since your max army is weaker. With tanks, just making more tanks late game is already shit and it cripples your army mobility while being a expensive liability.

Totally irrational complaint, but please switch back to blue or orange colours for your army. I cannot stand the green on some subconscious level and it seems to be your default colour for the last few months 😢
