I swear this STILL has the chill and calming feel of the original somehow... Only now it has this triumphant and heroic edge to it that seems to ooze confidence.

Being a musician, I enjoyed this a lot, but I enjoyed your end-note even more. The note to Marty is very relatable.

Still my fav part of this ensemble is when Sgt. Johnson thumps the drop pod and Chief Thumps back. The music nails the timing and it accents the dynamic between the two. It's almost like watching an older brother tell his younger brother to watch his six without saying it. A Spartan I sending off a Spartan II with a lonely thump telling him "Don't get your arse shot up, we have plenty of war left".

Halo 2 will always be the best Halo, from soundtrack to story to level design.
It would have been ever more expansive and amazing but they had time constraints. The money and and idea to continue lead us to H3.
Quarantine one's level design is just poor.

If OG Bungie was making Halo, this would definitely fit. The potential of this song to play in a "gear up" cutscene or gameplay sequence is insane.

It's clips from the remastered cutscenes for Halo 2 Anniversary, released in 2014, mostly in chronological order, and it tells the story of a hero and a man on a search for the truth coming together to save the galaxy

What did you use to make this? (Other than the guitar, obvi)
Everything was done from scratch so lots of different hardware and software. Anything in particular you wanted to know?
@@AlfieBradic what instruments did you use for the opening 20 seconds particularly the bass? It's a Kick-Ass rendition overall, but that's what grabbed me.
Also, any plans to do other Halo 2 songs?
The strings in the intro were a mix of Albion One by Spitfire Audio and Analog Strings by Output. I think most of the percussion was East West's Stormdrum (Marty used LOADS of Stormdrum 2 on the ODST and Reach soundtracks). Don't remember the reverb but a lot of the vibe was from the Spitfire ambient mics. I used an Eiosis Air EQ (the simple two-knob version not the new parametric EQ) to pull out the detail for the pizzicato bits. Really abused the top end but those samples are great quality so you can get away with it. Lots of light percussion on ping-pong delays too to give it movement. If you listen to the original there is some great delay work going on that is subtle but super important to the arrangement so I tried to keep that approach for this version. Hope that helps! (Also yeah I've been thinking about doing another Halo 2 track but not totally sure which yet.)
