Real life dark continent being Australia isn’t too far from the truth lol
No, it's Africa. At least according to Magi.
@@ratillecebrasquedubitantiu4451 mate we have a plant that stings you so bad people commit suicide. Gimpy gimpy plant
Chimera ants definitely from Australia
There's a ton of beasts lol
Or Florida
I honestly think 2011’s “I need to find Ging to know what was so amazing about being a Hunter that made him abandon me” is way more interesting than Gon wanting to find Ging just because
It just hit me as too close to yasopp and usopp
Did you not pay attention??? A hunter must stay on the Hunt and ging was thee best he was to busy doing missions and he always know Gon would follow in his footsteps just like he didn’t go to the hospital because he knew he’d survive. Maybe you should go watch it again.
dawg what is the attitude for lmao there was 0 reason to be hostile at all
Same
@@PerformanceMatrix He couldn't pop in at least once to show some kind of affection?
Whether Ging abandoned Gon or not, it's not like he had much interest in raising him either way. We saw the way he acted during the Chairman Election Arc, he didn't even want to visit his son who was in a coma.
He ain’t wanna visit him bc there’s nothing he could do Nd he knew that he also knew he wouldn’t die
He knew gon would survive
Idk man if my son was in a coma I would still visit him even if I knew he would survive
He knew he would not die? Let us not forget that he did not recover due to his own power. There was only one force in the known world that could save him and. He just happened to be friends with the guy who could use it. Ging did not know a thing. He probably did not want to face the fact that he is a pretty terrible father
Ging was the boar "pig" for a reason. This is also why Gon never calls him "dad" when he finally meets him.
Biggest myth is thinking that the Succession War is a manga ark, when in fact it's a novel with occasional illustrations
lmao hahaha
Dang
That is the truest thing I’ve heard today.
and it's better for it. Though this is coming from a book reader lmao
If you read all of it you would know there only 4 panels like that in the whole arc . the rest is standard HxH .
I also never got the impression of morally good from the way ppl talked about Ging, just that he was impressive
yeah I'd prefer if they don't sugar coat his character into having some righteous motivation. I like him as the selfish curious jackass that he is
Like father like son.
I don't know why, but I always thought that she made ging leave forever because he wouldn't stop adventuring. Like he'd come to raise gon for a few months then go off to a dangerous part of the world and do some crazy missions before coming back who knows when.
Also Ging's abandonment is actually a Buddhist virtue, which is represented in the story in the way it causes no harm to gon.
150%. Thank you for this comment.
Yeah that was my thought while watching the video. Allows both versions of the story to coexist and make sense.
So never coming back is better than coming back after irregular intervals?
@@hydrocy.9165 Considering the type of person Ging ended up being, yes.
If you're asking about the Buddhist tradition though, I'm not sure what the thought process behind that is. And in light of what another commenter has said, if Mito took custody of Gon from Ging then it was obviously because there was evidence to support the notion of Ging not being a good father. It's clear he was not made to look after a kid.
Mito used the court system actually. Sure you can argue "Ging ain't scared of the po po or people coming at him" but then the story is something entirely different. Imagine he did take Gon regardless. Suddenly Ging is a wanted man who kidnapped a kid and is basically on the run. If he isn't running he is beating up the police or whoever comes and it looks even worse.
Once it was portrayed that she used the court system to take Gon the story would be a mess if he still wanted to be with Gon.
Why did a court do that? Good question. We'll never know. In the best light Mito said Ging is getting into dangerous situations and its no place for a kid. In the worst light he was a deadbeat who was terrible. But both are completely speculative
The biggest myth is believing Hunter X Hunter will return.
Edit: this age poorly
Ouch
:(
So pretty much bleach
After bleach's return ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
@@petiteexplication6249 you do realize the bleach manga was already finished since 2016 the succession war arc began in 2011 and 9years later still on hiatus and arcs barely even started ain’t no way anime’s coming back
How could Mito have made Gin do anything? She's not his wife. Gin gave him up, Mito pushed for him to do it, simple.
That changes my perspective a bit. First as if Gon know that Ging didn't abandon him it means that he's not just wanting to be a hunter but he also likes to know his father. In 2011 version Gon portrayed not caring on his relationship with his father he just want to know what reason a father abandon his child.
You should read the manga, its more informative than 2011 anime
ging did not abandon gon, he just went to get some dar continent milk.
People always talk about morality as if it’s black and white. Morally good for one culture can be consider completely evil for another. That’s what Hunter Hunter is all about. Our hero’s that we follow are the bad guys for the chimera ants. I remember one scene where a human is pleading to Mereum and begging for his life and Mereum tells him when have you humans ever spared an animal being slaughter by the millions for our own selfish desires. We really think we are morally superior but no we are just as bad as the hunters or chimera ants in the anime.
I mean in general, basic morality is pretty similar everywhere. Be honest, don’t steal or hurt and all that stuff is pretty universal. I get what you’re getting at though.
@@JeffersonSteelflexx it’s not tho. Some places praise the theives and hate/disoby the law. Especially in poverty struck inner city’s.
Considering that humans don't feed on other sapient species, we might have one up on the Chimera Ants...
@@snapeinvader we steal, kill and rape each other. Used other humans for free slave labor. We bomb/nuke each other. To this day we still have children sold and used for cheap labor and sex traffic. Also some humans do eat other humans so we don’t have much on the ants.
@@snapeinvader we eat basicaly everything and some other species are sapient though
See I took it as Ging was still helping Gon by giving him clue on how to find him and bringing him in contact with people who would enrich his life and help him grow.
Ging sucks, but he definitely helped Gon a lot.
Thank you for doing this! Not everyone knows this either. Ging left Gon in his grandma care not Mito. Mito was 14 when she first met Gon. So fun to know a 14 year won custody over the dad. Or could been more later on. But still kind of cool still.
The 1999 anime explicitly states that Mito won legal custody of Gon. Certain manga translations also state this.
Gon absolutely would not resent Mito for insisting that Ging leave him in the care of his grandmother and aunt because he knows that they both love him very much and took care of him and Gon's warped morality would cause him to view Mito as "a family member who helped me by raising me and enabled dad to go and do amazing things unhindered."
As to the Ging who's built up versus the one we see, he's a mixed bag, split between the two ways we see people regard him. Kite and Satoz think the world of him as close student and dedicated colleague in the same field of study.
Members of the HA in other fields tend to despise him because he usually makes no effort to interact respectfully with them and sometimes goes out of his way to antagonize them if he doesn't like them.
The rest of his friends on the Greed Island team all greatly respect his vision and achievements but some of them (Dwun especially) can still be exasperated by his willingness to be completely unreasonable and arbitrary in pursuit of whatever he wants at that moment.
Most of the people we see discuss Ging prior to his actual appearance have a slanted view of him emphasizing what's important to them about him where the real Ging as we see him operate isn't really any of those Gings but rather the split difference of all of those feelings about him.
Hey, I really like the way you explain and the hard work you put in the videos well thanks for explaining and decoding so much about different animes I really like your one piece 101 series nice work 👍👍🙂🙂
Knowing Ging he probably gaslighted Mito into thinking it was her idea.
Don't let this distract you that hisoka's bungee gum has both the quality of gum and rubber
Episode 14 of the greed island arc at 10:45 remaining on the episode if ya look in the background there's a guy that looks like Gign going into the card shop.
I hope you and Grandlinewaifu are doing alright. Seems like Australia is running aground right now (even worse than America)
6:54 You keep using this picture for Togashi and I still don't believe that's him.
U see I typed hunter x hunter and watched the old series for 😐 until exactly to where kite tell gon about search for ging and all the gon and fox stuff, becoming hunter, catch fish , I left at that point ,started watching hxh 2011 by again typing hxh and got really confused as to why it's different and looked it up and found they were different, they 2011 was better but I can understand why some may ,or may not agree , my impression was ging was a role model .
Hi, im a new member. :) just recenetly came upon your videos
Anime 2011 watcher here, obsessed with it. seen it over 10 times through and through
Never read the manga.. now i will though. thanks yo
Always here for the story
“I come from the real dark continent….Australia.” ROFL that was so real, like he wasn’t joking look at his eyes
Am I the only one who found it extremely underwhelming that Gon traveled on this world spanning adventure to find his almost mythical living legend of a father finally to reunite...at chairman election committee.
I actually have a small theory/head Cannon myself.
I like to believe that gene had multiple children since he wanted multiple kind of successors so they can go to the dark continent or at least have a greater chance of going to the dark continent, at the end of the series, he says that he wants what he doesn't have, and it's most likely he did have multiple children so he could at least have a better of chance of going to the dark continent, plus, he said that he wants what he doesn't have, and if we're going with actual Canon here, gone is his only child, and son, most likely that he doesn't have a daughter, he would have a daughter since she doesn't have that or have multiple children in order to increase his chances of going to the dark continent. He didn't say what limits he has when going to the dark continent, he would have multiple children in order to increase those chances if one of his children doesn't end up going to the dark continents his life would have been for nothing. Well, of course, this is my theory. When referring to the anime a, of course, I have not read the manga, but gene in them, Anime seems like someone who is willing to accomplish his goal at any means necessary, no matter how long it takes, and even if that means having multiple children with may be multiple different women, he would do that in order to accomplish his goal.
When Liam called Australia the real life Dark Continent my brain was immediately like "sounds accurate." lol
Its funny because i read the manga first and had a pretty favorable impression of ging, i think he's a great character for all the buildup he got. All my anime only friends just think he's a deadbeat though 😂 I didnt realize it was an adaptation difference
The removal of kite bothered me because it makes gon make way less sense during chimera arc. It goes from the first character we meet in the story dying brutally, to someone who's kind of a stranger in the anime
But… ging’s character was the same when episode 1 of hunter hunter 2011 aired… it was only different thereafter.
Even Togashi himself isn't a 100 percent perfect writer it seems.
The problem I always had will be the lack of just writing the story and finishing it... this story effectively started in late 90's you can't expect the story or the characters to stay "true" to their nature when the writer is inconsistent and takes these insanely long breaks. Whether this is a good thing or a bad things depends on whether or not the story ever comes to a conclusion. But the characters and their motivations even their initially story arcs are bound to go off their original course because the writer is no longer the same person. ina way it is upsetting
I couldn't see the Full T-shirt, but your T-shirt is awesome, kudos for you Liam!
does Liam know the existence of HunterxHunter 99? The way he mentions the year 2011 everytime seems like yes but haven't seen it maybe? The feeling i had when i watched it was that yes, i knew Mito won the custody but also his father abbandon him?I don't remember the exact reason for making me see it this way. Plus that anime has a very dark tone from the start, which i liked. I remember being very disappointed at first watching hxh 2011
i feel like its best to just take it for what it is instead of trying to work around it with real life circumstances. like he can easily be someone who wouldnt want to abandon his kid, someone who can gain the admiration of some and the ire of others, and a selfish person all at once because people are just complex like that. his selfish drive to do what he wants can be inspiring to people like kite and satotz, but at the same time make him generally unliked by the people who take things too seriously. his desire to take his small child on his adventures shows that he cares about gon but is also selfish because of the dangers hes exposing him to, which also make mito seem reasonable because we know how dangerous the world of hunters can be.
I literally just watched gone with the wind 2 days ago. Never wouldve recognized the reference if i didnt
😂 I love ging and our sweet liam here😂
I was first exposed to the 2011 anime, and only got around to checking out the 1999 version once I got the random motivation to do so years later. I'd known about the kite aspect, which I'm still very sad was cut, but the Ging parts were a surprise to me, albiet not for the same reasons.
Knowing what I knew, the idea of Mito wanting to get custody of Gon given what a shit person Ging seemed... natural. It was a heavy and mature topic, and the sense that Ging was being displayed in a favorable way just sorta flew over my head. Simply knowing the kind of person he was beforehand completely reengineered how I absorbed that scene. I feel like they could have given us something great by recontextualizing rather than scrapping it entirely.
Personal Theory: Ging didn't abandon Gon; he gave him to Mito. Ging isn't really Gon's dad - remember the time Gon had a chance to listen to the real story about his mother from Ging on the recorded tape, Gon stopped the playback. An obvious block from us learning more clues about his origins. Gon is actually a rescued child from a previous (undocumented) journey to the Dark Continent and handed to Ging due to an apparent blood relation (or found artifacts found near Gon when he was discovered). TL:DR - Gon is really Don Freecs who ate too much Nitro Rice and regressed back to an infant body, and his ultimate goal is to return to the Dark Continent and finish writing the second Journal of the Dark Continent (West). Thoughts?
Lol whenever I try search up your channel now it just gives me reviews of the game 'New World'.
what mito did, was probably calculated by ging. he wanted to see if his son would become a hunter... when mito proposed to raise him, ging knew it could be the correct choice.
he did abandoned his son. you can't change that.
The biggest myth is thinking that King Meruem could somehow beat Tonpa the Rookie Crusher. Absurd.
😂 Meruem is a rookie after all
Just because jing has his quirky personality with negatives to it, that doesn't necessarily mean his actions and achievements can't be looked up to and admired by other characters.
He can be both selfish, while also doing great things for the world. He's very similar to Luffy. Both people who are selfish in that they do things for their own happiness, but their own happiness generally involves doing what's best for those around them.
Acknowledging the video, I feel like they could've kept the original intro and then let it play out as normal. As the story continues, you start seeing the "why" with Mito doing what she did in Ging's character.
the dark continent is most definitely not Australia. the map clearly shows Antarctica being the dark continent. except its the flat earth map used in HxH.
Hunter hunter in the start of the remade anime: ay this is just a happy cool series of a kid wanting to meet his dad and going through a cool journey
Hunter hunter in just season 2: yeah we got gangs people getting shot up an oblivious child and a pedophile clown who was in season one also
Hunter hunter seasons 3-5uhh yeah this is kinda dark and messed up someone gets beat to death with another person bare hands and it just has a lot of stuff that you can’t show your kids anymore
Hxh season 6: ay it’s back to happy stuff you know the mans found his dad there’s a whole new story we can talk about but the friends went separate ways
I think mito explained that she took custody of gon (winning it because it was argued that travelling with a hunter would be dangerous) to force ging to stay with him (and her) but he chose to leave anyway (what I am saying is her mistake is forcing him to make a choice that didn't need to exist)
Man i remember thinking Ging was the biggest asshole dad for a very long time when i was first watching, but nowthat I have a child he feels more sad and sympathetic especially now knowing he didnt actually abandon Gon. Imagine being forced to give up your child because of your work and not being able to push back because you know theyre right. So you leave and they grow up without you and you cant go back because of the guilt of having left them in the first place. You then meticulously craft something for them so that they can grow and maybe even find you some day, but your own emotions and actions make you so afraid to confront them you start running away. Then next thing you hear is that theyre essentially on the brink of death and you just want to reject reality. I hope i wouldnt do the same but i think i get it
i watched the old version of Hunter Hunter and they still had the part with Kite killing the cubs mother and the cub growing up then i continued in the 2011 version from were i left off in the old school version
Ging started as Shanks and turned into Gildarts
"dark continent in the real world" he's don freecs guys.
My fan theory is Ging knows more then meets the eye.
He doesn't care that Gon is dying because he already knows Gon will be okay. It's not crazy when you consider we've already seen someone who has the power to see the future. I don't think Ging has this power but perhaps someone he met or even Gon's mother who knows. But I mean Ging is still such a mystery at this point. I don't think Ging is a good person that's why I think if he actually thought Gon was in danger he would of done something.
After all after Gon "losses" his powers it's Ging who tells Gon that he doesn't think so.
But Ging doesn't mind taking the heat. He showed it when talking about being #2 for Beyond
I thought the real-life DARK continent is the Philippines, but I can't argue with that. Because we have different perspectives and we're in different countries so I agree.
"I come from the real life dark continent, Autralia" LMAO that is so true
I love the ging panda In the back
I always thought of gon as very smart knowing the feeling of the ones that surround him BUT...not caring. He just care about what he wants. Being the ants arcs the epitome of that part of him
my take on it is that yet mito did take custody over gon, but ging did *not* put any effort into defending himself or getting gon back, so it fits with the "yes he did abandon gon... but also no he didn't"
i get why 2011 did what they did with ging, but i'm still very mad they cut every mention of kon and kite out of the story up until the chimera ant arc. and even so, they could have put a lot more info into the flashback. this leaves people who watched only the 2011 confused as to why gons drive to get kite back in the chimera ant arc is so strong because they don't know the sheer impact kite has on gons life. this is why i made my sisters watch the first episode of 1999 hxh to understand that reason better.
I don’t defend the loss of kite in the first episode but I think ging abandoning gon is more interesting and makes ging a better character.
Ging fills the sort of absentee father trope in anime. Characters like Goku and others are constantly forgiven or excused for being bad parents. During the early segments of hunter hunter, we kinda assume that ging must have some higher purpose or something because in other media they always do. But I love that ging really is just an asshole. Gon can forgive him and come to understand why he felt that he’d rather pursue his own interests but there’s no “actually he was secretly a good person/dad” moment and I love that.
I think that the change is for the better
let me break “the myth” for u guys,
i ever worked for sensei, (the mangaka of hxh) for details im not going to go there.
but idk why this being called myth by this channel, of in other channels (maybe)
so basically for full understanding u need to read the manga. yes. if u want to have sometime for fun, with voices and audio, then add it with anime.
at 2009 anime, the budget to make anime series was okay, but its better than 2011, so in 2011, the crew was renewed, and the budget are not that much as before, its still ok but not like 2009, ok.
noticed the crew were changed rite ? from the drawing of the characters. to make competition with ongoing anime+manga that has better rating is hard, so they need to make cut in the anime “with necessary content” so for details, u need to search in the manga.
and this explanation will be the same almost with all anime, “budget”
paying 声優 or voice actors is alot lol
so hxh just made adjustments
but u dont have to be worried about this anymore, what u need to be worried is, hxh’s future is compromised.. sensei’s health is not good.. thts why the manga release getting slower to be released..
one thing that is sad to be heard now as well sensei ever told the crews before
“..i actually has so many things in my mind i want to put in there(my creation) but i just shocked its difficult to put those in…”
yes, thats fact.
以上です〜お疲れ様でした♪
Gyro turning into Meruem is another HUGE myth
Love the content, miss the Jjk videos tho
Yes he did. He didn't have to listen to Mika. She can't force Ging to do anything. Ging decided to abandon Gong.
I like the flashes of your face throughout the video
I mean even if you take the manga into consideration, not much is different; Mito won custody of Gon because Ging never even tried to contest it. You could say he just didnt know that it was happening, but that still brings the fact that, even if Ging had no idea there was a custody battle going on, he still never visited his son even once for 10 years. I think he knew he was never really meant to be a dad, and so he did the "right thing" and left Gon with someone he could trust to keep him safe, so Ging could essentially leave the picture with a clean conscience. I like the decision to make Ging not a villain, but a selfish almost agoraphobic person who chose not to raise gon because he knew thatd probably traumatize him more than if he grew up without a father
Hey, there two things about Hxh, could it be in real life about this HxH story can happen in human?
What if Gon is Don. Ging found Don and something happened. Now Don is Gon as a child
Even if Mito did, ask for Ging to leave Gon, Ging is still a deadbeat dad. He couldn't put a pause to his hunter lifestyle, nor could he be bothered to even come back from time to time. There is no valid argument for not being able to do at least that.
Gon freecss identity was Don Freecss
Newworldreview nen ability is to create videos from a manga that freezes in time without running out of content. If he were in the hunterXhunter universe, he’d be a social media god.
Oh my gosh Liam showed his face 🤯🤯
I haven't subscribed yet. Y?
I haven't lose to your mini game haha.
hello brothers can i ask some question about a speculation whether its possible? like if its possible netero would transfer his skills to beyond via condition after he dies something like that? also nitro rice might save kurapika after the intense dark continent arc
Hey, after Gon met his father, and do you think will be continue to further, after Gon return his license to his father?
Idk how you can be so certain about a change in Togashi’s vision, have you spoken to him in person or something?
Can you make a video about the "Chrollo cheated in the fight against Hisoka - Theory"?
I would love to know your opinion about it. :)
Did you ever consider the conflicting views of Ging may both be legitimate? People are complex. Ging seems to be the kind of guy you either love or hate. Either viewpoint is for good reason. He is not evil but his first inclination is to irritate someone. It’s only after people get to know him do they realize how great he is. But that takes time. Becoming his friend and gaining his trust is something of a hunt itself.
The biggest myth of this video is thinking just because a shonen is dark it means it somehow turns into a seien
Ging purely left Gon alone because 1. He had a goal that he couldn’t accomplish watching over Gon. 2. He wanted to keep Gon away from any particular enemies Ging comes across. Ging is smarter than he came off.
Gon also wanted to find ging. Ging even doubled down on it when leorio called him out on not visiting Gon. He asked leorio “did Gon want me to come visit?” He didn’t want to take Gon’s goal away from him
@Rita 25 y.o - check my vidéó are you sure about that? I don’t believe it’s been stated or said 1,000,000 times in the series that bungee gum has the properties of rubber and gum. Would be completely busted imo.
Some of this stuff is shown in the 1999 ver
12:40 where is that image from?
I disagree with the change, because it's realistic that kind of expectation. Not only that, but i find the situation with Mito not breaking their bond, as Gon forgave Mito for what she did. But it was not done in spite as we see in that same chapter Mito treat it as a deep dark secret implying there is more to being a Hunter then just hunting and not being a nice kind of life from a normal persons point of view. More then that, if you keep going the rabbit hole, it doesn't change Ging from how it's portray later on, because he did gave up Gon. He could have not done it, he has the power by a lot, intelligence, etc. So that he wouldn't have to give him up, which still puts family as a second thing to his desires.
Second, everyone we hear from is there, people with minimal interaction with Ging to admiring his work to being their student for a very short while. And as we see on the last arc, when it comes to work, Ging is surprisingly efficient.
Final point, Gin wasn't well know in the assosiation, just the Zodiacs truly know him, and that's a more recent development. To the assosiation in general he was a mystery.
As such, i don't find a tonal shift that damaging for the story, it's just the anime wanting to appeal more to certain part of the audience and more of the problem i have with modern Anime, which i think it always was there of trying to be more fancy then it's in dfferent aspects. Instead of just accepting what it's. And the Anime audience also wanting that, instead of just accepting it for what it's and moving on to focusing of making it the best possible it can be, without changing what it is for the wrong reasons.
I actually started with the 90s anime, so make of that what you will.
I didn't get why gon wanted to find ging as I'm anime only. I just thought it was in his blood. To go after something...... For the love of the hunt.
We can sum up this video with the meme: "Well yes, but actually no"
Togashi knows how to write kid characters better than other mangaka
pretty sure the 1999 anime had both the kite scene and mito telling gon the "truth" about Ging. If you don't care about the (really) old art style of older animes I would definitely recommend watching it, grated 2011 version is better in my opinion but hey when you never get tired of HXH why not
Idk why but most of my favorite youtubers are australian. Liam is far more "civilized" than the other ones though
I did it! I guessed Whale Island!.................... but still I will subscribe.
He still made the choice to leave him so, yes he did 🤣🤣
Gon is not a hero all by himself, you can’t stand on one foot on a rocking boat in a hurricane. Everyone needs another person to support or help them.
you got one thing wrong , in both occasion gin lost gon because he was living a dangerous irresponsible life, mito forcing gin to give up gon was not bec of her actions but bec of gins actions of not living a life where he could raise a child ? raising a child as a hunter is not safe , at least to the normal standard, we all know gin would have raised him well but doesnt take away the dangers he would put him in , dangers wich would lock a person up for child abuse or some sht
i don’t know how to explain it but you just look so… clean
you sound clean too
bean sama?
I’m shocked too
0:12 Don't be silly, the real life 'Dark Continent' is obviously Africa, not Australia!
So if I’ve only watched the anime, is it canon that he abandoned him or not
Jokes on you, imma play as Ging for this UA-cam game
This is a very opinionated view it seems cause I highly disagree with the conclusion. Let's not forget that Ging is relating to Togashi's personality and that isn't something he would just decide to do midway through the story
Ging was never expected to be ideal, we could see his true motives from his tape. Even in the Manga he wasn't hesitating to present himself as selfish, and he was always meant to run away from Gon. I feel like you're having Togashi as way more inconsistent than he is 👀. As a big Ging fan, I think that he expected Mitou to insist in keeping Gon. Cause he knows his sister very well. This would a very easy prediction for him.
The change the anime did was very damaging cause they didn't allow the viewers to see that he cared about Gon as much as he's originally intended to care. Ging did so much in order to make Gon get stronger. Cause he knew Gon was gonna go after him, and that's what he wanted. He let Gon to the hands of the person he trusted the most, and someone who would be a better parent, whilst also managing to hunt for his own aim to find Don.
That is my view of this
Well he did say to say hi so Hi.
I actually enjoy that only 4 people fuck with ging
The feeling you get when he says he's from the real dark continent and you thought he was south African 😱😄
