This happened to me. I’m pretty sure it was my fault though. If you hold down on up instead of enter to change the temp, it actually puts you in a calibration mode. So when I thought I was cranking the temp to 450 I was actually telling the Hakka that it was 100C high. So then when I set to 350C I was actually only getting 250C. The reset brings it back to factory calibration. I have a feeling this happens to a lot of people.

This may be my issue. Not enough heat transfer for the board to take any solder. Never had any issues with it. I do mess with changing tips so I very well could've done this also as I forget which button to hold down etc.

@@jefftrainer7128 so frustrating. I actually went out and bought an expensive JBC thinking that the hakko was just crap. Then after the reset it worked great again. Well I’ve got two stations now.

Not sure why but when I hold both buttons and turn it on I get a flashing 01. Not A or U.

This is exactly what happened to me. Was very frustrating. Watched this and performed reset. Soldering station is great again. I felt a bit silly but it's an easy mistake to make. Thanks much!

Thank you so much for posting this!! I knocked my station off the table a while back, and it has never heated up properly since then. I came across your video and it worked perfectly. Appreciate it!

I have bought two in my life, one FX888 and one FX888d, both gave the same problem of not heating properly, hate this shit!

This was super helpful! Thank you! I thought I was losing it when I couldn't get my trusty FX-888D to make stuff stick together anymore. 350º and it works like brand new. Woohoo!

Thank you. Fixed my iron. I noticed for some reason it just was not getting hot enough to solder even though I had it set on 480c. now it solders better than it did on 350c and 480c it will solder large wire to copper plate.

Thank you so much! I accidentally went into the "adjust" mode instead of the "set" mode, so knowing how to reset the adjustment has just saved me from needing to buy a thermometer of some kind to properly adjust it.

THANK YOU! I thought my soldering station went bonkers or my tips are bad or something but now it's back to normal and it didn't cost me a dime

I'm having a similar issue. Been using my unit for 2-3 years with no issues and today it was taking solder fine to the iron but there wasn't enough heat transfer for the board to take any of it.

mine doesnt show the A ? just blinks 01 ? the temp goes to 130 and slowly climbs but only gets to 170? But tip is red hot! I measure with temp gun and it was 1000 degrees!! why? i bought another handle (copy) and same exact issue! i think the unit itself is bad or the sensor inside the unit?

Have same problem, no A, just 01, and it does not keep the degC setting, shows weird numbers and gets red-hot. Any possible solution?

If you didn't buy it from a real Hakko distributer it's counterfeit . Whats happening is very common with fakes .
