Quite astonished and shocked to see a photo of Swami Chidananda with a bow and arrow in his hands, with more arrows he was carrying on his back. What was he trying to convey? That it's all right to hunt animals and eat them? I have never seen a swami carrying bow and arrow until now. What happened to the ideal of ahimsa? Yesh Prabhu, Bushkill, Pennsylvania.
Your implication in regard to the pic. @ 2:18 is not only extremely disrespectful to Poojya Swamiji but also a huge insult. Do you deduct the same from Bhagawan Ramchandra's traditional pictures with bow and arrow?
@@vanhar1 Thank you very much, Mr Harish S Agarwal, for your comment. There are big differences between the Swamiji and Sri Ramachandra of Ayodhya: Swamiji is a sanyasin, a monk, and a Brahmachari; Ramachandra was a Kshatriya and a grihastha. They are bound by different rules and strictures, per our scriptures. The major difference is that a monk or a renunciant takes the oath of ahimsa when he becomes a monk, and addresses the spirits of all animals and birds and even trees, and says, “Do not be afraid of me because I will not harm you.” A Kshatriya is bound by no such strictures. A monk is forbidden to carry a weapon of any sort. A bow, together with an arrow, constitutes a weapon, don’t you think so? So a Hindu monk will not touch bow and arrow. What I wrote in my original comment was not meant as an insult or my intent to show disrespect to the Swamiji. I only expressed my astonishment at seeing that photograph. It was like seeing Buddha sitting with a gun on his lap, that’s all. Peace. Yesh Prabhu, Bushkill, Pennsylvania
