For the Winota triggers, since they resolve separately you should assign who they attacking as each trigger resolves, not wait until all have resolved. It’s a small thing but gives Alex a lot more (inappropriate) information when assigning attackers cheated in from Winta
My first magic played was a guilds of ravnica draft. My pack 1 pick 1 was Niv Mizzet Parun. When I learned about commander, he was my first deck. When I first heard about the Spike Feeders, I saw an episode where Jerry was playing my beloved dragon, and I became hash tag team Jerry. Little did I know how I had been deceived.
Definitely should have survived it. Not sur if it would have saved the game for Elliot (probably not?). But maybe that extra velocity would have let him combo a turn earlier!
Yeah I think you're right. They're in the same layer but because of dependency, Yavimaya becomes a mountain Edit: Just like with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
card type changes are before ability changes. (iirc) so it should make everything a forest, then everything gets turned into mountains. it's weird like that.
Is there a reason Jim didn't Deflecting Swat the Kiki activation on the last turn? Make it copy Order of the Sacred Torch and you've bought yourself a turn and can roll the dice on dying to Jerry instead of definitely dying to Alex. 12:18 - half of 35 rounded up is 18, Jim should've been left at 17. Others have pointed out the Arbor/Culling Ritual, and Moon/Yavimaya interactions so I won't reiterate them.
I debated swatting it, but without enough mana to hardcast the Kiki I was drawing dead after it left the top of my library. At best it extends the game with no benefit to me and at worst it's kingmaking.
@@TheSpikeFeeders yeah, technically you *could* cast it by sac'ing all your goblins to Prospector but then you don't really have anything to copy with it. fair enough.
Everything is a Taiga? Do I not see any cards that are relevant other than Magus and Yavimaya? This is a layer 4 Dependency case which is the basic example where Urborg was used. Yavimaya is dependent on Magus, so it's a Mountain and will not turn everything into a Forest.
Adding to this: if you ever want to make a video on layers I can provide you with neat examples and explanations sourced from a presentation I did on the topic for judges.
With 2 cards in my library and no way to hardcast the Kiki Jiki after it was off the top of my library I had no way to win the game. No good reason to extend the game at that point.
Built a pretty casual Winota. Used her twice. She obliterated my opponents. I'm not sure I should run her again despite the deck having pretty mediocre creatures in it! Boros needs to chill!
"There was a theme of humans and non-humans in Ikoria, and thats why they're indestructible.'
This has been a Certified Combat Step Moment
Uh dryad arbor is a land Ja? 11:35
yeah, culling ritual says "nonland" so even though it's a creature, it should've lived.
It's fine. If Cratermaker was used to kill Arbor, the same about of mana would have been made.

That was a lot better than most for a first time piloting the deck. Way to go Jim!
Winota is just an awful match up.
Why did the culling ritual kill the Dryad arbor?
Definitely should have survived it. Not sur if it would have saved the game for Elliot (probably not?). But maybe that extra velocity would have let him combo a turn earlier!
I also came here to mention this. It does say nonland so probably shouldn't have killed it
Better question why do you get to make multiple copies of the everquill phoenix after you copy it with kikki jikki?
Wouldn’t the blood moon make the Yavimaya a mountain, therefore turning off its effect?
Yeah I think you're right. They're in the same layer but because of dependency, Yavimaya becomes a mountain
Edit: Just like with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Ud think that. But layer rules are a mess
card type changes are before ability changes. (iirc) so it should make everything a forest, then everything gets turned into mountains. it's weird like that.
How come Winota was able to attack the same turn? didn't have haste so a little confused
I love tinder wall, used to be part of some cool pauper combos

11:09 dryad arbor shouldn’t be destroyed just the utopia sprawl

Was looking for this comment. This is indeed true

I am just a bit confused about Yavimaya getting around the whole blood moon effect. Shouldn’t it be turned off since it’s a non basic?
After looking it up we realized Jim got it incorrect in the moment. The relevant rule is 613.8.
Nice bobcat goldthwait impression there, Eliot.
I don't think I've ever seen a pod recover from a board wipe so thorough, followed by a Doomsday pile to combo win. Magic is a wild game.
Love that turn 1 Lumberjack, so many memories 😂
Yup, such a power play ;)
culling ritual doesnt kill dryad arbor as it is a land.
It's fine. If Cratermaker was used to kill Arbor, the same about of mana would have been made and the game would play out the same.
Always a delight hearing the intro tune
I couldn't hear because there was a bunch of other noise but did Jim say "...an s-tier blocker in this lobby?"
don't worry Jerry, I am 100% behind "Winota? Hardly knew 'er!"
Did someone say combat damage wins , in cedh ?
If Elliot always talked like his intro, I would refuse EVERYTHING he offered!
How can you use the bird on turn 2, when you just Player it. Doesn't it has summoning sickness?
Jerry's Concordant Crossroads gave all creatures haste
@@TheSpikeFeeders Ohhh okay, thanks for the super quick response. Good video and keep it up!:)
Instant like on the video during elliot’s introduction
6:40 why winota attacks? i thing she cant attack cause she is casted in the same turn
it has haste from Jerry's Concordant Crossroads
Wow I can’t believe I influenced jim so much
Oh god skylar don't watch it was a bloodbath I am so bad at piloting this deck
Could they not have delayed the win by a turn by swatting the Kiki ability?
With 2 cards in my library and no way to hardcast the Kiki Jiki after it was off the top of my library I had no way to win the game. No good reason to extend the game at that point.
Is it just me or does Jim look like Ryan George in the thumbnail
There was very much interaction in this game...

dryad arbor doesnt die to culling ritual, cuz its a land
It's fine. If Cratermaker was used to kill Arbor, the same about of mana would have been made and the game would play out the same.
H-hashtag king Jerry?
#TeamJerry
Seriously thinking Alex has the most wins since he's shown up great games love Winota
#teamJerry
Haven't even started the game yet, Winota was a mistake.
Winota would absolutely suck if the creatures she brought in weren't indestructible, she would be a typical boros commander
Couldn’t Elliot win turn 2? Getting Kiki and using it to make a bunch of bell ringers and win?
It's me. I'm #TeamJerry
MY GIRL DRYAD ARBOR IS A LAND CARD
Elliot, new cringe level reached
I see Rocco, I like. To be fair though, I’m not a fan of food chain in rocco due to how poorly it layers.
Culling does not kill dryad arbor
It's fine. If Cratermaker was used to kill Arbor, the same about of mana would have been made and the game would play out the same.
Ritual doesnt kill dryad arbor ..
