Solar 42 - Playing with the light sensor

Elta Music Solar 42. The four main drone voices each have light sensors that modulate the pitch of selected oscillators. Using it with chords can be pretty harsh and non-musical, but here's a very short demo of using the light sensor in a musical way with just one oscillator. It plays and sounds somewhat like a very limited Theramin. #synth #synthesizer

One of the most interesting thing I found with mine is that ALL the voice modulation happens via the light sensor. In this case, the external cv that’s patched, stimulates a red led and feeds the sensor in combination with ambient light. The cv doesn’t produce any modulation aside from feeding led. Changes to ambient light are much more subtle if there isn’t a strong cv patched because the cv is providing a base line illumination. It’s very cool.

When using the light sensor with enough ambient light, every movement I make with my body can affect it. Very much a synth for experimental music that can sometimes be unpredictable and surprising.

I'm really falling love with this thing... and that Yellow colour is amazing... EDIT: Is this the Maise Yellow or just a yellowish light on a White Machine?
The Yellow looks lighter than the Maise Yellow... It's like a perfect shade of Yellow!
