Just imagine if Bobby Hurley would've never had gone through that automobile accident years ago after playing the first couple of basketball games for the Sacramento Kings, he would still perform better on the basketball court dishing out those good passes. Bobby Hurley would've been the first White Chocolate version of Jason Williams.

I actually remember this game. Jim Barnett, the warriors announcer, had it out for Hurley for some strange reason. Even in this game he kept saying they're only playing Hurley hoping a team would trade for him. He played great in this small starting run. His biggest issue was that he couldn't hit a jump shot after that accident. The guy would have been an all star if he didn't have that accident.

He started the last 9 games when Eddie Jordan replaced St Jean. Eddie liked Bobby and thought he a better fit for his Princeton styled offense. Bobby went for 6.4 PPG, 8.1 APG and only 2.5 TO per game and actually shot well for him as a pro at 41.5% & 35.7% on 3s. The team went 5-4 in those 9 games and Eddie told Bobby to work all offseason with the mindset of coming into camp as the starter the next season but unfortunately Bobby had a deep thigh bruise that hampered his play and after starting and struggling in limited minutes the first 3 games he was relegated back to the bench until he was traded to Vancouver.
AS far as his jumper went with the laundry list of injuries he sustained during his accident one that went mostly unnoticed was to his left shoulder which caused him to have a hitch in his jumper. He was a right handed shooter but since his left shoulder never properly or fully healed he had a hitch in his release which caused the jumper to come out flat. He also had a damaged and torn ACL that wasn't properly addressed because the Doctors were more concerned with his life threatening injuries and he completely tore the knee while attempting a comeback to the NBA.

Is this when Eddie Jordan took over and made Bobby the starter and let him run an uptempo fast paced offense at the end of the season? If so this would date this game to 4/19/97? Bobby had 2 pts and 6 ast that game but overall he started the last 9 games and the team went 5-4 and Bobby avg 6.4 pts & 8.1 ast per game against 2.5 TO. Not a bad run for him in a modified Princeton offense. He shot 41.5% and 35.7% on 3's both well above his season and career avg. He became the starting PG the next season but unfortunately he was injured in camp and wasn't 100% he started the first 3 games the missed several and when he came back he came off of the bench for the rest of the season until being traded to the Grizzlies.

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American and male. Without the accident, I'm not saying Bobby Hurley would have been Isiah Thomas or Mark Price. But, I think he could have been a 14-15 points, 8-9 assists a game guy for 10-12 seasons.

I love Bobby hurley. He needs playing time. You sat Dukes point guard on the bench. Bobby hurley is unprecedented and unstoppable. Honestly i love Caitlin. Imagine if she sat on the bench. Give Caitlin clark mamba. She can't be stopped.
