sounds like a guitar
...like James Hetfield's guitar.
I just bought a Harley Benton. I started playing around with guitar about 2 or 3 months ago. The reason I got a Harley Benton is because, unlike a squire or epiphone(neither of which are bad guitars), I found that seeing my Harley Benton SC Custom (ESP Eclipse clone) just made me want to pick up the guitar and play more. And I think that is the most important thing for beginners like myself. Surround yourself with stuff that makes you want to play.
Exactly. I love mine too
The best guitar ever is the guitar that makes you want to play it.
9 months later...100s of demos later.. I still come back to this video. I love this mix. Great message too Jamie! Cheers!
Aww thanks!! I’m glad you like it 🍉 :) I have another HB on the way
@@JamieSlays this video seriously changed me. You blew me away with the talli riffs my jaw dropped about 3 months later 2 red teles stole my heart who knew! But I'm a metal baby so I need a riff machine. Still haven't pulled the trigger yet probably gonna be a bday present. Just cant figure out which HB to choose! So many pretty ladies lol Cheers Jamie!
That guitar looks and sounds amazing. Wow for 100 euro's compared to a high end guitar... Instead of paying 1000 euros for one guitar i would buy 10 Harley Bensons for that price and give them away to nine of my mates.
For 10 HB's, I'd rather have a $1000 guitar.
I bought this guitar because of you Jamie! I really like the look and how comfortable it feels!
Playing for almost 50 years, I've owned more guitars than I can remember. I own expensive and "cheap" guitars, and price absolutely means nothing when it comes to how good a guitar is. Many "cheap" guitars I've owned, have sounded better, and played better than the expensive ones out of the box!
Very true.. My first guitar.. A hondo V, blew away many other guitars ive used. It was set up perfectly and had factory dimarzio super distortion. Wish I kept it.. Never see them for sale
@@acw2237, I see them from time to time on ebay, though prices have risen. There is one now on ebay! $399. and change, in the UK.
Great video! I might have to try one of these! My fav guitar I have is a used BC Rich Warlock I got used for $100 because the electronics were messed up. Half an hour with a soldering iron and it plays great! Thanks Jamie!!
I have a virgin an I 😍
Massive props to the Gengar watching over Jamie!
Harley Benton makes some sick guitar!
BTW your playing is tight as usual, awesome tone!
Thanks!
I wish they shipped to South Africa... Guess I'll have to move to Europe once the Corona Virus has faded away so I can get one.
Crushed it dude. This is an important video. Glad you made it. Biggest take away CHEAP Doesn't always mean Bad, Expensive doesn't always mean good. Well said my dude.
I've been tempted to nab a 7 string Harley Benton for a while now. Never really played much 7 string so they seem like reasonable guitars to experiment with.
I got their 7sb and it's awesome 🤘🏻
This 100$ guitar with a good intonation and new string will sound way better than a 1000$ dollar ltd without intonation and 2 month strings in my opinion, i will like to see a comparison like that
It will also sound better than a 12k $ PRS without strings. Like.. What? Whats the point of comparing anything to a not intonated ltd with old strings. Comparing my toaster to it makes more sense
I have this one for two years now I think. I only upgraded the tuners to locking tuners... But still! This is my favorite guitar! If set up great this thing is absolute love in your hands. It's cheap yes but I love it. ^^
What is the current tuning stability while using whammy bar after installing locking tuners? Please share your experience ! :)
@@ShahwarSadaf definitely better than before. Because of my low tuning ( drop C) this was a necessary. ^^ they now have the "newer" version where I think they just changed the wood and the HB lable. :)
I still think it's a steal for this price. :D
But someday I want to change pickups. Don't get me wrong they sound great as you can hear, but I want a new sound. ^^
Definitely buying this one(when I have enough money) since it is quite cheap. I've been getting into metal music lately.
Brilliant idea!
He managed to make e standard death metal with those first riffs
I love this guitar, it is really good value for monery,... simply amazing! i have since then replaced the picups to Lundgren M6 and fitted black Harley Benton locking tuners, and turned it into a monster ;D ,.....so this is a nice guitar to grow with :) Thanks for the good video,..Love cheers
That bad boy chugs like an alcoholic. I love it.
I came across Harley Benton guitars last year.....I now own 3. From the lowest cost model to the highest, they're really good.
I have 3 HB guitars and I love them. People can be as snobby as they want when my sub 200 USD guitar plays as well as theirs..
I bought a couple of HB's, very impressed. DC 580 and DC Custom , totally different to what you showed here , but bang for the buck? YES ! . Great video, great playing, and most importantly. great message. Rock hard always 👍👍👍☮☮☮🤘🤘🤘
I own a harley benton which I bought in 2002, and one I bought in 2016, both are really good guitars for the price point. Would recommend if you have realistic expectations. 100-200 [currency] for a guitar really goes a long way with Harley Benton
That is awesome 🔥🤟🔥🤟🔥🤟🔥 💯💯💯🎸⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Just literally today pro series blood red I love it
ive bought already two of this guitar, the first cuz i wanted a cheap guitar for the rehearsal room, the second because its a damn great guitar ( and you never have enough guitars )
but both guitars have black nut, yours has a white nut ( and black nut looks so much better )
3 things you have to do:
1) give it a lil bit fretboard oil ( as every fresh guitar needs some )
2) install another spring in the back so the bridge stays in place and you dont have to worry about tuning
3) get a fret rubber an polish them so the frets feel smooth
Makozer According to the spec sheet, the fretboard is basically a type of roasted maple so maybe don’t oil it 🤷♂️
@@MK4vDubbin ive oiled it and it soaked the oil and feels great. so this should be fine imho ...
Seeing your guitars standing against a radiator absolutely terrifies me D:
Haha it’s fine. I’ve disabled the radiator
@@JamieSlays Aaaaaaand my soul is lightened haha
Thanx for the video. Awesome playing bro. And guitar sounds real good! 🤘🤘
dude i love my Harley Benton man
2:39 eargasm
Tone is in the fingers that turn the knobs. People always forget the last bit.
I wanted to learn guitar. It looked nice. I bought it. I'm happy. 😂
Literally just bought it after this video
Man! I wish I wish I WISH that Harley Benton would make a fixed bridge version of this exact guitar. Like a Hipshot style through the body.
You know a guy can shred when he chooses classical position even with just 6 strings. It took playing an 8 string for me to join the club but now I play in that position with all my guitars
That guitar is $100? Might have to snag one that's a steal
Yehhhh
The shipping is what kill it for me is more expensive than the guitar
Harley Benton is an awesome brand considering how cheap they are in price.

@@jcalzada74 only $30 shipping.
jorge calzada in northern ireland and the UK. IF the price is £100 or more, the shippings free
Thinking about a Harley Benton for drop D tunes in set ..
My niece will love it!!! After I've thoroughly inspected it for a few months...haha
Great video! Just wanted to clarify that reverse headstocks do NOT give more tension, the scale length of a guitar is calculated from the bridge to the nut (not the tip of the headstock). All the best!
A lot of people have told me this haha. Then what’s the point!! Lol
Jamie Slays Just stylistic purpose really!
Uuuh, no. There is a reason for a reverse headstock. The scale length is indeed the distance between the nut and bridge. But within the same scale length, let's say a regular 25,5", if you have a reverse headstock there is a greater length of string on lower strings, between tuning peg and bridge, which requires more tension to reach the pitch, and it's the exact opposite for higher strings, which means lower strings are tighter which is good for rhythm, and higher strings have less tension, therefore are easier to bend and more comfortable for lead... and before anyone jumps and says "what about if you have a locking nut?", well, you tune to pitch BEFORE you clamp the nut, so it makes no difference to the mechanics of tension. And yeah, reverse headstocks look cool, too.
Christian I literally went to school for this, reverse headstocks do NOT affect tension.
Christian Ask a luthier, I can guarantee they’ll tell you the same thing. There’s multiple theories on why this is the case, but if you measure the tension it will be roughly the same across a normal headstock & reverse (obviously with smaller, random variables).
This is awesome Jamie!
I agree what you said about price on guitars i bought a Michelle guitar with a floyd for 250 or 270 and that thing is awesome stays in tune very good and sounds amazing so price doesn't determine quality always
I’ll buy it from you JS!
I agree with you, it's too easy to be a guitar snob. I've got a few HB guitars and I love them. I also only play at home and quietly, giant see a £1000 guitar is going to be 10 times better than the one you are using here.
I think more people are concerned with the necks of these guitar than them sounding bad, more than not you are getting fret sprout or frets that are sticking out being sharp on cheaper guitars. It is often extra hassle.
Wow...nice for the price. Thanks for sharing.
I wish you'd do a video on alternate picking as my picking sucks.
$100 for that?? Shit I'll take one!!!
Honestly, I think this is one of your better videos!
It was long enough to be consistent all the way through and you were down to the point and you spoke a bit louder and clearer than what I've been a bi*ch about before xD
All in all, good video! And I'm a bi*ch 🙃
Dat inlay. It reminds me of those old Ibanez S series for 2009.
harley benton is a great company becuse they make cheap prices but the quality is great i like it
I own 2 Harley Benton guitars, one of them is a R458 BK (that's an 8 string) and a BK Victory and they're fucking phenomenal. The only downside is that I had to wait for shipping since I live in the United States
Thanks for this video, watched this as I am interested in getting one and wanted a decent review, and this is exactly what I needed 🤘👌
I like Harley Benton. Not a metal guy though. I get funky on the Cst24 green. £190 out of the box no set up needed. I have a Les Paul at £1750 that came with nut, fret and binding issues. Go figure 🌴
yea its dope man i love mine!!!
Agreed!! I got a 160$ Harley Benton 7 string fan fret because.. well I play bass and guitar and wanted to see what it’s all about... it plays very nice sounds decent and well worth the $...I think it really depends on your expectations..and a little bit of luck... QC on some of these inexpensive guitars isn’t alway great but they’re getting better!! Cheers!!!
You know what I'll just grab one, fuck it, I wouldn't invest in a pricey 7 string but would like to have one from time to time lol
love it. thanks!
I just wanted to point out that this guitar is the Harley Benton HWY-25 BKS Progressive Series guitar, Progressive Series is the series of heavy metal guitars under the Harley Benton brand. You are an excellent player.
So for instance there is the Harley Benton SC-1000 Progressive Series guitar which actually has active pickups in a Les Paul style in the same blacked out color scheme as the HWY-25 BKS, and It's still under 200. I believe I paid 162 dollars for mine. I also bought one for my 15 year old son as well as the HWY-25 BKS. Not intended to be trolling you. Just give you the information. Stay safe and healthy my friend.
I will buy this now🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸
Yayyyy
Insane sound for that price really.
I try not to look and the make of guitar anymore, I try loads of one's I think look nice and usually get the one that feels best for me.
just got the hb lc-1000 and i love it hb really stepped up there game
Yeh! I’m so impressed
I got the same guitar with Lundgren pickup´s and locking HB locking tuners fitted and the guitar sounds great,...use it a lot,..Thank´s for the video,..and BTW ure a awesome guitarist love cheers :)
Cool guitar man. Have a good day.
Sanitarium well played and sound legit af, respekt lol
First of all Great video. But i was wondering wich set up (besides the benton) did u use to hit those riff's?
Dude, you have way too much gain in your tone which saturates the distortion probably more than it should. It's almost like fuzz boosted with some overdrive on active pickups. Maybe that's the way you like your tone but the riffs you played could use some better chugging. Try dialing the gain down a bit on the amplifier (not on the od boost) to reduce the amount of squareness in the tone. That's generally where i find the sweet spot. But that's entirely my preference. Cool video and great playing. Keep it up.
Thanks bro
You should do a video playing this and playing another “better” guitar through the same amp/amp sim to compare the two
Hey man cool video ! I maybe missed it, but do you remember what plugin and IR you used for this one ? Your tone and mix are absolutely sick !
I heard it has a problem with tuning! Its stability is not so good! But i guess its Update you are using! Did you face any problem with whammy bar and tune?
I have the same question
Reminds me of my first guitar the esp m-10.
They have a really nice 7 string for dirt cheap that's amazing for the price. I thought these came from Germany I could be wrong. Probably am. At least my wife says I am all the time lmao !! 🤘🤘
Greetings from Ecuador, good video
^ Hes right though ^
1:05 ... no, just no. physics isnt happy with your words.
rev headstock is mainly for style
and owning some guitars with rev. headstock, they have a huge issue with ringing low strings, you have to mute them or they keep ringing ... and they are way harder to mute then the light strings :D
Metal.
sounds like the guitar for me... cheap but gets the job done... Im just starting out and want to learn power chords in order to write a few riffs to lay over my drums... thanks for that video
hi cool video and what are the settings for the amp please
i wish they had a hold in the Asian market
Best guitar of low budget ( 100 $ )
Bought one from thomann and it had horribly high action & fret buzz everywhere and some kind of glue/ residue on the fretboard, Maybe i just got a dud lol
I want to hear your opinion of cheapest Harley Benton 7-string
I've been looking into trying to get a harley benton r458 just always out of stock lol sounds good man I might look into this one as well
How are the tuners? I’ve heard negative things about it. I really want to get this guitar
You can swap the tuners, do some fretwork and you are going to have a really nice guitar. I own a cheap harley benton myself and those are the only downsides I've found so far. Even the pickups are good for the price.
The tuners look like the reg low quality Chinese tuners.. Replace them
Harley benton has a pair of black locking tuners for 39 bucks with great reviews. Just order them when you order the guitar! Thats what im doing. I will get a new trem bridge down the road!
Can i have a quetion which is the way to go?
Hwy-25bks
Or
Sc1000vb
These are both harley benton guitars
What do you think of the Jackson js11 dinky?
sounds dope! i guess they're out of stock because of this video!
Haha are they?!
Jamie Slays well they’re out of stock at the moment :) what is your verdict regarding quality of the tuners, tuning stability, intonation and all that jazz? Is this model comparable to the Jackson Dinkys in the lower price point?
How does it hold up now jamie? U think it could be a gigable guitar?
Johnathan Simmonds yeh totally!
@@JamieSlays thanks so much. Kudos man! Love your channel. Say, how can I go about an autograph from you?
Also, do you teach?
reverse headstock don't make a longer scale for bass strings...
I know 🤦♂️ I found it from this video haha
Right now I have a cheap Squier and looking to upgrade do you think this brand is worth investing in
Does the whammy bar work like a Floyd Rose bar (Double lock system)? When you can pull it up and do dive bombs?
Also nice Gengar plush
its basically a bargain basement amarok
Yeh amarok wasn’t out then. I want one hah
Darrell Braun, is that you?
Haha 👋
Should I get this one or jackson sj22 as a beginner?
Got one a while back, really enjoy it except _massive_ electric noise / humming (goes away if I touch metal parts / strings "a lot" - more than occurs during normal play). Dunno if that's just a QC thing and I got unlucky, might be fixable with a soldering iron and lots of UA-cam wiring tutorials 🤔 At a glance everything looks okay inside it but...
its just a ground issue inside, an easy fix for sure, most likely lose ground wire or faulty soder
Longer scale because of the reverse headstock? wut
🤦♂️☹️
To clarify: the scale is the regular Fender scale - 25,5 inches
What was the tuning on this video?
3:07 reminds me of crisis
5 min video, 10 sec soundcheck
Id just like to get a normal neck for it as its hard to tune
How is it with c standard blacl metal?
Can you find a good budget 7 string?
Jackson dinky
