  • This railroad crossing is located in northern part of Seoul station. It is named Seosomun Crossing. Many trains are passing through:
    0:24 : KTX (TGV-K) / It is S.Korea's first high-speed train introduced in 2004. There are 20 cars on one KTX. The maximum speed is 300 km/h.
    1:08 : Mugunghwa Train / It is the most common train in S.Korea. Trains stop at almost every stations. There are 2~10 cars on one train. The maximum speed is 150 km/h.
    1:52 : ITX-Saemaul / It is a new train to replace second generation Seamaul trains. Trains stop at major stations. There are 6 cars on one train. The maximum speed is 150 km/h.
    2:14 : Saemaul Train / It is a second generation Seamaul trains. The train stopped only at major stations, but shut down on April 30, 2018 (Because this train is old.). There are 6~8 cars on one train. The maximum speed is 150 km/h.
    2:37 : DMZ Train / This train is a tourist train to visit the DMZ, a region close to North Korea. DMZ (DeMilitarized zone) is a place where there is a demarcation line between North Korea and South Korea.). There are 3~4 cars on one train. The maximum speed is 120 km/h.
    3:00 : Subway / It is a subway running in Seoul. Most Seoul subways have 10 or 8 cars on one train and stop at all stations.There are 16 subway lines in Seoul, and several lines run on the ground. The maximum speed is 100 km/h.
    3:07 : KTX-SanCheon (KTX-ll) / It is the second high-speed train in S.Korea. Unlike KTX(TGV-K), it is made with Korean technology. There are 10 cars on one KTX-ll. Therefore, the KTX-ll often combines two trains and operates. The maximum speed is 300 km/h.

    That railway crossing is Seosomun Crossing(Seosomun mean West-Small Door. This is a gate built in the Joseon Dynasty in 1396. a crossing near the Seosomun was built and the name Seosomun came.)
    Seoul Station is near the crossing. There are many trains running here because trains that start or end at Seoul Station or Yongsan Station go to the base or exit from the base and sometimes cargo trains pass here.

    The train at 3:01 looks like a very short metro (subway) train. It's amazing to see a train like this running on the same tracks as high speed and intercity trains! Also the mix of diesel and electric catenary wire trains is interesting to watch.

    • @ErebosSan
      @ErebosSan  6 років тому +2

      This is a commuter train of the Gyeongui line. This line connects Seoul to the border with North Korea but only the DMZ train (2:37) goes to the final station. Most of the trains seen in the video are empty and are going to the depot.

    • @user-jj5yu3dt3w

      Many train use same track near seoul station but their destinations are different. But there's some tracks that don't have electric wire. So some trains that go through that line use diesel.

    • @ErebosSan
      @ErebosSan  6 років тому

      En fait la plupart des trains qui partent de la gare de Séoul vont vers de sud. Au nord il n'y a que des trains de banlieue et quelques KTX qui vont jusqu'à l'aéroport d'Incheon. Mais c'est aussi le chemin vers le dépôt, ce qui permet d'avoir cette diversité.

    Looks like some fascinatingly varied rolling stock. They have TGVs in S. Korea then? That electric loco' looks a lot like DB class 152. And that one 1:54 is very interesting. And GM diesels too!

    • @ErebosSan

      You are right: KTX (0:23) is based on TGV Réseau and Korail Class 8200 (1:08) is based on Siemens EuroSprinter (as DB Class 152).

      You're right,I'm Korean and our rolling stocks are quite global lol: French high speed trains, French electric locos for freight train, German electric locos for passenger train, American diesel locos, Japanese subways,,, etc. Although Almost all of them made by hyundai or other Korean maker but there bases are so global..

    The warning lights are very sparse in S. Korea at those large intersection crossings compared to the 6 or more pairs of warning lights at such crossings in the U.S. Furthermore only one set is flashing. The others are steady red. In the U.S. all warning lights flash.

    Ma non hanno mai pensato all'interramento di quel tratto di linea? Non penso che alla Corea del Sud manchino i soldi per poterlo realizzare.

    Ah , et c'est moi , où il y a pas mal de pays dont les trains ressemblent au TGV français ? ( Corée du Sud , Amérique , Espagne... ) ?

    • @ErebosSan
      @ErebosSan  6 років тому

      Oui. Le KTX coréen, l'AVE S-100 espagnol et dans une moindre mesure l'Acela américain découlent du TGV.
