Doug tries to give the guy just a little more of a change, what a good guy.
Thank the forge gods for Doug. Even if your stuff doesn’t do well he’ll say a good thing about them.
If Doug’s positivity wasn’t in this show it would not be watchable
I dont know, dave is pretty cool too imho...Doug is class though
“Your blade has spots where it’s not sharp and where it is” wow you don’t say after you hammered it into a railroad spike
There is no logic here but there is comedy 😂
3:48 that syncronization doe
Next strength test I'm gonna take your blades and dip them in lava for 30min if the steel doesnt melt then you pass and remember it's what the lava does to your blade not what your blade does to the lava lmfao!!
Actually lava is about 70c off from being able to melt steel, and 200c for carbon steel. Shouldnt be to hard to pass that, the handles would be gone though.
@@TradingHosts Wow honestly didnt know that thanks for the knowledge. But I was just being sarcastic lol.
"And now for the sharpness test!"
@@berserkenmurken8953 Lmao you thought .
You should be a "Judge"
I think its Bologna, but try it.
That was probably the most brutal test I've seen on this show. Hammering a blade into a railroad spike? There is no blade that's not going to be damaged after being subjected to that.
right??
3:47 was very satisfying
That was perfectly in sync lmao
Hammering in sync........
I've been working on the railroad all through night and day...
Ahhh I like this show. Just like Masterchef version of forging
Never in my life do I want to hear doug tell me, your blade will rip.
You know, I cut the strength test slack usually, but this? This is beyond insane. Nobody is forging knives in a couple hours that can be literally hammered edge first into railroad spikes and not take some form of damage. The fact that none of them BROKE is impressive enough for me.
That strength test though...almost brought me to tears watching. brutal!
But knife who survived it propably willbe serve you whole your live, your kids and grandkids... And after few hundreds years archeologist find it still sharp
WEEL REEP!
Old man wanted to cry on the spot lol
I think you'd be upset too if you just lost out on a chance to get $10,000
@@calebpeelman1749 True
I call him "Knife Santa".
oh i love this series
"Overall, sir, your blades will rip."
No matter how dull or broken the blade is... Doug always enjoys using them to... Cut
Any one hammering a blade is a real nut. Crazy tests. 🐻
I love seeing all three judges testing at once. It's super cool to watch.
"The edges took some damage." 😂 "now there are area that are sharp and areas that are not as sharp." Oh my God lolllllll
Great insight
😂😂😂
I love how after the tests they get in a circle to discuss like the people across the room cant hear them hahahah
LOL
I'd love to see the judges and the host of this show go to Japan and visit the old school samurai sword makers for the show.
i find it funny how Doug looks like the odd one out during the Strength test, but he's definitely having the most fun
They need to save the Strength test for last. You cant penalize someone for having a dull blade when you just beat the blade with a hammer for 20 seconds
The point of the test is to see if the blade will survive harsh conditions and still stay sharp afterwards
Trixter8l I agree that is the point to remain sharp in rigorous conditions BUT I have watched many of these and I believe many tests push these knife beyond reasonable strength testing. Example railroad spike, bolt cut, seem excessive to me and focused more on getting ratings. Things like the coconut chop, bone chop, and metal gas can or battle stab all are more practical test that could simulate i world thing you could use these knives for. YOU WILL NEVER AND NO ONE HAS EVER NEEDED TO CUT A RAILROAD SPIKE WITH A KNIFE....
@@williamprice2631 Thank you I was going to say that yesterday but I didnt want an unnecessary rebuttal. Knives are meant to cut and stab. I think that when testing a regular blade, a sharpness test and kill test is enough. Save the Spikes and bones for Battle Axes.
[CHAM] Liam_Rhyse I feel like you can't say it is beyond reasonable strength testing when there were competitors who went through the same strength test and then went on to pass the sharpness test.
Is a weird one, this strength test is dam harsh
Just whistle while you work....
The,three destructive elves....
The test is as much the same for all them as can be. So it's quite fair. Is it realistic? That can be up for debate.
I know people like to take the mick about how tough the strength tests are but that’s the point, if everyone was meant to survive it then there wouldn’t be any way to differentiate them. The better blade will perform better but still likely be damaged
Agree (:
so yall are going to pretend like am the only one who likes how Doug Marcaida says "it will cut" lol
THE REPOST you should hear how he says “it will keel”
Not used to seeing Doug doing the Strength Test.
Top 3
I don’t know the name of the first judge, the one who always does the strength tests, but every time I watch one of these episodes I can’t stand him. He has such a sarcastic and negative tone. Doug (kill test guy) always has something positive to say about the weapons, even if they fail. He will always find the good in the weapons and I think that’s important. The first judge (strength test) has a way of acting that his negative “funny” comments can tear down the contestants. Idk I know this is a rant but I really can’t stand him and i hope I’m not alone 😂
His name is j
you're not alone
At least he is not like masterchef judges who will say "idiot" to the competitors
I don't like his over acting grunts.
shino88 yea he puts more effort into the noises than anything else 😂
Will it KAT?
Between ridiculous tests and every miss strike by Doug being blamed on indexing I'm disappointed. Let's do something no blade on Earth will withstand then see if it's sharp?....... Beyond stupid.
The dude Earl (an ex roommate of mine) from season 2 episode 3 used to make spoons and forks out of rail road spikes.
People need to remember that the reason why they do the strength test before the sharpness test or any other test is because theres no point in testing a weapon that would break at a moments notice. Also if a weapon is ok even after the strength test, then its a testament to how well it was forged in the first place. Again theres also the hazard that if they dont do the strength test first or second, the blade may fail and cause injury. You would rather have the blade fail in the strength test where its usually point in a safe direction rather than it fail during the sharpness test where the judges are fully swinging the blade around as they cut through things. Rather a broken blade on the ground as opposed to a broken blade with a part of it in someones body
It never cuts, it always keals.
But we still dont know if they will KEEL!!
No offence to Doug but I think for the strength test, Ben would've been a better fit
I dont find the strength test reasonable by using the rail road nails I get it that they are testing the blade strength. Maybe they can just slam the knives on the rail road spike though
They literally just beat the blades with hammers, how is that a fair strength test?!
Those spikes are iron. Soft when hammered in.. Rust adds a harder shell.. But a sledge can flatten them cold..
"a little too soft on this one" bro its mild steel
Stupid test.. it's a knife not bolt cutters
I agree
Its supposed to push the knives to their limit to test the quality. I agree that it is s bit over the top but this is also still a tv show that needs shock and stakes with whats happening
The hammer is too heavy for Doug he will break his wrist again
Knife Santa looked crushed. :(
"For this test we will now subject your blades to 5 min of concentrated fire from this..... *pulls sheet*
M134 Minigun.
Good luck smiths!"
1:00 Any one else reminded of ZZ Top?
Your blades will “RIP”😂
But will it keeelllll
It weel kell
Have the judges makes blades an let them got tested how they test them
Sandman .45.357 yes one of them was actually a contestant at one point who won multiple times
At least one completes all of the tests first to make sure they can be done, it was mentioned in an interview.
They do, check out new episodes
Watch beat the judges series.
They make the Display Knife at the beginning you see
So a blade goes dull after getting hammered against railroad spikes. Who would have guessed...
Yah definitely no variability in that strength test
Aren’t rail spikes pretty low carbon and not hardenable well
Wo
Getting judged on not one blade but 3 now thats over kill
It weel reeep
Railroad spikes make terrible knives but great blunt force trauma objects
I love reading a the lil girls comments who do not understand the brutality of the blade tests.
This is just a nonsensical test!
doug. why the shoulder?
and head is overextend doug. u'll get kill easily offering your head like that
Did not make the cut lol I get it, cuz his blade could no longer cut
Whoever suggests these strength test should leave the forged.
Of course it’s gonna have damage to it you just pounded it against a railroad spike what did you expect
this show is so inconsistant with the tests
Why would that be the first test
Next week on FIF: “I’m gonna launch your blades into the sun and see how they hold up”
I get that they're testing the edge but that's insanely harsh testing. I cant think of a time I've tried to split a railroad spike with a knife in my day to day. Your show doesnt actually show us anything other than you've got judges who can bust up some knives.
Yeah repeatably hammering knives into metal spikes is a dam harsh test
The point is to simulate years of wear and tears on the blade the best they can. And you cant really say its all that unfair when there are people whos blades have come out of the strength test literally undamaged. It can be done, you just have to know how.
Staniel Das Boot fair points that I hadn’t considered 👍
I want to make my own show...
Railroad spikes dont make good knives, the steel isnt high enough in carbon. This wasnt even fair.
Where's the triple Keeel test???
Wtf
shoulve just gave up, the first step to failure is trying. you wont fail if you dont try
Um 1:53 to 1:56 did the middle judge even hit the knife?
He was already done
The strength test was astonishingly unrealistic. Unless a blade is made like an ax there WILL be damage.
Of course there will, they just test them to find out which took the least damage
@@Longshin777 very good point. I didn't look at it that way.
yoyoyoyoyoyooooyoyoyoyoy
Is it just me or does Doug need to stop bowing
Of i get on that show, when the guy asks if I'm ready, i'll say "as ready as my first daughter"
ok blade smith ??? or ????
What a stupid strength test.
A r.r. spike what a load of b.s.
Hahaha i dn now why i watch this
Jamie needs to chill tf out
They should’ve done the cut test before the strength test
I really do like this show but this is the stuff that I don’t like. No one would ever do this to a knife, nor should they baton on a railroad spike. I know it makes it more dramatic, but this is like testing to see if a crowbar can cut a tomato... why? And if you tell me it is testing the heat treat or composition of the metal that’s utterly ridiculous.

@TheProGamer99 people are speechless apparently

Executive Order: Judges take heed, many aficionados are dead-set against the asinine beating of precision edged cutting implements (knives) upon steel rods/girders/rocks or bricks as that will only serve to blunt/deform/warp/fold/buckle or splinter the edge...regardless of its construction or metallurgy.
Kids, its a knife, meant for cutting/slicing/whittling wood, fruit, flesh, textiles and other organics, its not a chisel/hammer/axe/jemmy or crowbar nor will it _ever_ be! Always carry the right tools for the job! "Strength test" understood okay, then baton upon wood or bone, elements that a practical knife may encounter. So-called experts! You above all else should know better with your contemptible excursions! I feel like saying "please clear your desks and lockers then exit the testing facility leaving your I.D's at reception on the way out."
Beat a blade into railroad spikes of course there's gonna be damage what a pack of mooks...
The highest comment likes in this vid is like 24 lets brake that real quick 😂😂
I watched this episode. They eliminated the best smith first because of stupid reasons. The knive he made didn't look enough like a railroad spike. Really, that was the reason, he got kicked off the episode for transforming metal into a a different shape in order to make it more efficient for the task. They let so manny amateurs pass, they really shouldn't throw out promising people because of petty reasons like that. In other episodes, they test knives with so manny delaminations, they look like they're made from spaghetti, no F's given, but his knives don't look enough like railroadspikes, so that's where they draw the line? It doesn't make any sence. Btw: Both finalists screwed up in the end. one was a little less terrible than the other, so he had to be crowned champion,...
As spikes are a medium carbon at the best. 1045 not nearly good enough for a knife that can stand the abuse they put them through in this show.
Everyone on this show looks and dresses like an American stereotype.
I think I've seen jason knight wear some type of man skirt. Like those bagpipe players.
It's because they're in work clothes.

IT WILL RIP? 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 This is a f*ckin insult to the Grim Reaper Community 😂🤣😂
Very repetitive show
Im the 5th comment haha!
did mommy give you a smiley face sticker?
not this is the first time I'm seeing treating blades differently than others on purpose... this show is pathetic in my eyes cuz most of the time the testers decide who wins not their blade & hard work... shame...
i’m no expert. but i’m pretty sure that this is a really inaccurate and stupid test
Yup, you're not an expert
"It bit into my hand"
Awww poor baby
