Did you leave out the directions for what mode to put TV in on purpose because that is why I watched and see I wasn't only one since I casted to my TV when I first got it directly from my phone to the cast or the Vizio insignia on the top of home screen I thought, but I purchased Disney+, Hulu, and had access to Amazon Prime and HBOMax on my other subscriptions so I ended up bindge watching Disney+ Marvel and Star Wars shows and a few movies and series on other two apps and now have completely forgetten how I did it and can't seem to repeat it so yea the TV instructions for what setting is a must to help myself and I'm assuming many others and especially any who happen to like this as it probably explains a few peoples problem?!?!
My guess is your TV model doesn't support this type of mirror screening. What he did is basically the only steps. This video is basically useless because it just tells you what button to press on your phone, that is it. There's no more to it if your TV has the capability to use mirror cast/screen cast.
Your Smart TV should have a Miracast Featrures, mine is a non-smart TV but I purchase a Smart-TV Box which supports Miracast, so now my Dumb TV have been upgraded into a Smart one, it can also run my NetFlix now. Smart-TV box is cheap now, but works wonder especially for a none-Smart TV.
Your phone and your TV should be on the same wifi network when you hit smartview your TV will pop up in a connection menu, just click on you TV option and tour TV should turn on

Got a Vizio smartcast tv and a Samsung active 8 phone. NOTHING ON THIS EARTH will let my tv and phone find each other. I can turn on hotspot, and the tv SEES it... but it will not connect. I've followed these simple instructions shown in this video (without hotspot on) and the tv is not recognized. Driving me insane.

My smart view just keeps searching won't find my 2 TVs anymore 😒 one is a vizio another one is android TV. I have forced stopped the app and nothing. It used to work now it doesn't. I have rebooted phone and TV and nothing.

Hmmm… u should look up ur tv model see if it has Miracast. Also note ur tv may have airplay too (iPhones call screen mirror AirPlay)
