3:27 "normally it takes 30 days to start rooting." this varies. The bushes I have grafted (lilac, crepe myrtle) have taken 2-3 weeks to have enough roots inside the ball. Trees usually take longer and it depends on the tree. Fruit trees usually take 4-6 weeks (I've done 4 apple and 2 pear). The one English Walnut I have tried took almost 3 months to have enough roots. I haven't tried it on coniferous (evergreen) trees yet. Of course climate, zone, season, and the weather probably all have some influence, but since they are so cheap it's not much risk. I have not used any growth hormone or root stimulator, just compost and dirt have been fine so far.
Hi, I just bought these but have no clue what they're for? What is the point? And how do you use them after the roots have grown? Do you cut it? (If it shows in this video I'm sorry but I didn't watch it all.😂🤦🏽♀️)
@@marcnaidu5804 for my country weather no need to put water..because it always rain.. normally it took 1 to 2 month to root start to grow when i see the roots growing i start to put water inside
Thank you so much for this! I accidentally tossed my instructions and then was like "Duuuuuhhhhh, how the heck do I use these now?" Your video was perfect. :-)
What brand of root ball is that? There are hundreds of copies on Amazon and many are cheap garbage. The one you use in this video seams sturdy and the clip connections seem to work. Do you have a link to the one you use?
Is it best to choose a sunny spot? And do you "SHOP" for the right branch? if so what should one look for or avoid? I am thinking the more advanced the limb looks the more impressive my specimen repotted will be. Nellie Stevens Holly and Crepe Mrytle are my first I have my eye on. Any advice from anyone with success of those please comment. THANK YOU!
Mostly shady to part Sun. Full sun is not good idea. As for the right branch yes look for one slightly smaller in diameter of the hole the branch is going through.
I would add that if you're not using sterile gloves wash your hands with soap and water before handling the cambium layer you exposed by removing the outside layer of bark.
I'm calling BS. cutting all the bark off is no better than cutting the branch off completely. The branch is going to wither and die. Also, this would not work for apple trees because apple trees are grafted onto wild rootstock. Otherwise, they would not be hardy enough to survive.
Update on the result of this air layering technic

How often does the air layered pod need to be watered after it's in place please?
I can say it in my country weather (malaysia) i no need to water it at all. But maybe in your country you can water it once in two week
No showing of result! Did it work?
Terima kasih
Beli di shoppe ke boss?
Iya boss. Di shopee
Is this applicable to any plant sir...pls reply
I think some languages use grafting and air layering interchangeably. In English, this is called Air Layering.
Nampak mudah je nak buat tut gune benda ni 😁
mmg memudahkan kerja
There is nothing about watering it. Do you not water it the whole time?
Im not watering it. But you can do it if you want to.
Tak nampak beza pun untuk atas dgn bawah tu?
ada beza.. yg ada bulat dia besar sikit

Omg the music is horrendous, had to turn it on silent.
This is not called grafting...
Air layering😊
that's not grafting, that's air-layering
Thank you

What about heirloom apple trees?
Sorry mate tried it and it worked (on a lemon tree) lots of posts out there showing positive results on camelias.
this is called cloning not grafting
