Dear Tom's Mom - You should be very proud of your son!
@Yenny Ayala He is a teacher.
Lmaooo love your “Dominican “ accent. You’re always welcome to come eat arroz y habichuelas in my Dominican casa in BK 😄. Love your videos Tom
I agree ! I’m curious if his journey .
Jeezo ,grow up toms nearly 40
Yeah, he's one in a zillion.
Tom is my favorite tour guide-lawyer-actor-comic in New York City. The rest don't even compare.
Yep. Not even close. 👍🏾
I forgot that Malcolm X was murdered in Washington Heights back in the day. Thank you for reminding us Tom. Also Great tour, some parts of Washington Heights I've been to.
@jieair You’re funny💀🤣
I didn't realize that
Great tour. Also for sports historians the Highlanders baseball team later named the New York Yankees played at Hilltop park in Washington Heights where New York Columbia Presbyterian Hospital is located. There is a commemorative plaque where home base was.
My word! Dominican cuisines, historical landmarks, and political assassinations? Who knew "Washington Heights" could be so exciting.
everybody can walk around a city and film, but hard to beat tom :)
Hello Tom, I'm a 4th generation Harlemite but I've lived across from Trinity cemetery for years. Just wanna' say I really enjoyed the tour. FYI Additional info: Sylvan Terrace was the slave quarters for George Washington. The building that is Boriqua College and Spanish Museum is also the Hall of letters, but was the Native American History Museum until the 90's when they moved it to the Wall St. Battery Park area, the names of the tribes are engraved along the rooftop. Likewise Samuel Clemens AKA "Mark Twain" is also buried in the cemetery... as well as my grandma and great grandparents who were born in 1891. Thank You for your work.
The history comments and background are OUTSTANDING and VERY INTERESTING. Good Work Tom !!!
I love your channel and don't care that you repeat things. I didn't know about Broadway stretching so far outside of NYC and I'm sure a lot of other people didn't either. We don't always catch all facts in every video. There's a lot to unpack. Keep up the great videos. I'm always thoroughly entertained.
I love his video tours. He is so above and beyond knowledgeable about all things New York City.
no hes not, stop it
@@MrRoderick187 why is he not?
Look at my comments st you'll see y. He did a half ass job with tons of incorrect information
@@MrRoderick187 oh cmon give him a break, you don't need to take offense to him saying something wrong it's never that deep
It was trash n dass it lol
his Info was Incorrect, he's not from here obviously
Carry on....
Thanks for the video. Born in Presbyterian Hospital December 27th 1952. Lived on 162nd and 575 West 172 street. Played at that light house Sixty-two years ago. Hey Diego, if by chance if you see this....Remember Neil?
This guy should be at home drinking tea and resting - he's so siiick!
I agree, I love Alex Haley’s book on Malcolm X. This tour was fantastic! I noted a few places to go on my next visit to NYC.
The Autobiography of Malcolm X is captivating from the 1st word!
I really enjoy Toms episodes.
Thank You for staying positive about the barrio. I lived in the heights for a few years and loved it.
You’re like a walking encyclopedia man! Great stuff.
Being a New York City native, this was very enjoyable to watch. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Tom you're the next big NYC UA-camr, love your vids! If you ever want free videography/editing/refreshment table coordinators/extras/translators of young people culture, we'd love to help! We're located in Morningside Heights during breaks from college. Keep up the amazing work! You, sarah funk, and actionkid gonna rule the big apple someday 🗽
This is awesome of you guys to offer to Tom. Hopefully he sees this comment. Also, hopefully one day someone does the same with me on my channel LOL😭😅❗
The Jar doesn't know how to kayak.
@@Gsntlc Agreed, The Jar can't kayak.
That's such a nice offer, thanks! Would love to chat. Where can I reach out to you?

Looking forward to talking!
My son lives here
I absolutely love it!
It also had a heavy Greek influence at one time. My son lives on Audubon between 172nd and 173rd. Same Spiridon on Wadsworth. Beautiful Greek Orthodox Church.
My great uncle came from Greece in the 1910s and never left Washington Heights
Love these walking tours. Like Bourdain, it isn't just the information Tom provides, it's the oratory.
And I think that if facts are getting repeated it just helps to demonstrate that even though New York is many different neighborhoods, it is still one city; it is gestalt.
Thank you for the work, both you and Phil. These tours are fantastic.
Very interesting, thanks.
One thing you forgot, the home plate of Hilltop Park where the NY Highlanders - now known as the NY Yankees - played. It’s in the gated park at New York Presbyterian Hospital. You can get in by waiting for one of the staff to open the gate.
Great tour, but A-Rod did not come from DR, he was born in Washington heights from Dominican parents.
Lol nobody wants claim responsibility for arod
Stfu
The old, and slightly creepy, gentleman leading us through this video really knows his stuff. Love all those facts. And the production value is getting better each video, like, did you see, this video had cuts!!! Totally poggers.
@@rudnickasphotography9825 Don't judge me, I just commented to help this video with the UA-cam algorithm. Of course Tom isn't old. At best he's oldish... But I see you didn't mind me calling him creepy 😁
Thanks, Pierre! Each cutaway took 72 hours of work to execute. I had been editing this video for 3 1/2 years and I am now retired. I am too old and creepy for all of this work!
@@tomdnyc1 😂😂😂
I'm always amazed of HOW MUCH u know man!!!
Soy uruguayo y vivo en Brooklyn.
Vivi varios años por esos lares.
Abrazo hermano!
I can’t express enough how much I loved this! I was born in New York to Dominican a parents and we moved to Florida when I was 9. I vaguely remember New York so this virtual tour was prefect! I can’t wait to go back and watch more of your tours 🔥🥰
You’re knowledge is amazing. Thank you for your work.
Your videos make me feel that there is wonderful community of walkers and riders on UA-cam and I won't have to feel lonely when I am on your channel. Thank you. : )
Awesome tour, really fun. I like that hood in the summertime. The Jamal Mansion is a great place to sit with a sketch book. Thanks, Tom and Phil.
I just found your channel, Love the History lessons. " You hear that Mom? it doesn't matter that all those other lighthouses that graduated Law school with me are making 6 figures, my light its just fine" LOL Yes it is Tom no matter how small you think your light is, it is needed by someone , and your light shines brother, it shines very big and bright, Thank you!
Tons of history on this tour Tom....
I love Tom. He always mix so much knowledge with humor (very funny, those faces 🤣), even moralejas for his mother.
Hahahaha.
Great job again man
The GWB is not only the busiest bridge in the US but the world!
gotta love this guy. the lighthouse analogy is great. your light is needed by someone :)
There is a little red lighthouse under the GW bridge.
Wonderful video, Tom!
Let me add my two cents: the nice building you show in front of Bennet Park is Hudson View Gardens, one of the 5 historical buildings in all NYC.
You walked by Broadway and 157th st. Right there and one block West, on Riverside Drive, John Cassavettes shot a few scenes with Gena Rowlands in their movie Gloria, where she plays a tough gangster woman.
Looking forward to more of your videos, Tom!
Thank you Tom. Another goodie.
I lived here from 2006-2010. Nice hood...
I've read Malcolm's autobiography 3xs...I may read it again now...Great tour Tom!
One of my favorite books of all time!
Tom, I have been patiently waiting for the Washington Heights video and you never disappoint. I am a huge fan of the editing too. Sound effects, creepy pop ups behind random stuff, asleep on park benches, being violent with a random chunk of tree limb. Just love it all!
Glad you liked it!
@@tomdnyc1 love your work. Why not start an affiliate link for books you recommend. I want to read Malacolm X autobiography but waiting for your link. Thanks 😊
Well versed, well read, historian and great story teller and proud New Yorker. I feel I am taking US history in NYU.
I have seen some of your recent videos about NYC, I like the way you explain all the History, its quite useful for foreigners and you do very enjoyable. Even if I am European, I can understand you pretty well and also love the differences between spanish and english accents. They are both quite. Don't worry about people trying to criticize you, there are always vindictive people who do not see the good that your videos do to those who are not from NYC. Keep working hard. Thank you so much Tom
Thanks for the tour of Washington Heights. My mom grew up there in the 30s and 40s and went to George Washington HS. My grandfather owned a grocery store on Cabrini Blvd, but I've never actually spent any time in the neighborhood.
good you repeat your history so that we can remember. thanks
Tom, I enjoyed this Washington Heights tour .. . . You are knowledgeable plus you have the charisma to relay information. GREAT JOB !!!!
12:16! so funneh! Love tom's humor. :) Love the cute bodega kitties! :-D
Tom thNk you so much 💖 for this video recently left the city in May and have been missing nyc the heights and you just brought a little piece of home back to me during this tough year I really appreciate your videos and all the work you do thank you 😊
Nice video, thank you. I wonder if you did a tour showing NYC Beat Generation. Allen Ginsberg lived in East Village & Kerouac in 454 West 20th Street back, in 1951. Burroughs also lived in the Chelsea Hotel where he met Warhol...
Excellant Tour Tom, It was nice seeing you at Bryant Park couple of weeks ago
Thank you Tom we love your videos your a legend I hope you have a fantastic Christmas may all your dreams come true love from u.k
Hola mi amigo. I love all the History about my old neighborhood that you covered on this video so well. Adios
Excellent tour 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. Thank you so much! I’ve always wanted to know more about Washington Heights because of Lin Manuel Miranda’s Broadway show
Thanks again. Quality!
Many others doing walking tours of NY, but they don't have Toms charm, Toms the Bomb!
Love your tours!
Another great tour!
Thanks man, great video! Merry Christmas.
I’m a Washington Heights native, from 175th/Broadway…right across from the building where El Malecón is at. My old building is in plain view from 3:42 to 3:53 - 700 W 175th Street.
J. Hood Wright Park one block down from there on Ft. Washington Ave was like a second home to me every summer as a child.
I left WH for Miami in July 1985 and don’t regret it one bit.
Washington Heights was already very Dominican by the late ‘70s.
I’ve visited WH many times between 1994 and 2013. Definitely some dos and don’ts for that neighborhood. Rule of thumb: west of Broadway and north of 181st Street has ALWAYS been best.
I always love your videos! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. So much knowledge.
Very rare that I LOL at anything.....but I did at the "my light is just fine....ok?" bit.
Merry Christmas Tom and a bright New Year!
Love the video! Great tour, you captured the essence of the neighborhood
Good show. Thanks.
The recap at the end is great Tom, you put out a lot of info and my rememory isn’t so good anymore. Love your stuff! Thanks
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TOM - be safe. ~ JDS/CT -- from Connecticut
Keep doing your videos... I'm learning so much about some of the history there.😊
Love, love, love your videos! Amazing every time. Muchas gracias, I am learning a lot :)
Real interesting and informative walk. Really liked it.
First time watching your show, thank you for the education and everything you say I’m learning for the first time
Great videos, Tom!!! Happy Holidays!!!👋🏼☺️🎄✨🎉
This is all so interesting, I am learning so much, thanks Mr Delgado! I have been to the Union Palace theater, a popular venue of Francisco Nuñez’s YPC concerts these days.
Great tour. Cheers Tom
Phil is right it was a great tour thanks Tom
Top notch ! Loved the Video, keep up the great work, you are going places!
Wow Tom thanks for sharing all your knowledge 🙏
Hey Tom, I love your New York in depth vids. Just the antidote to not being able at present to being there. Great stuff.
Yet another fantastic, fun- and fact-filled tour! Thanks, Tom D! Keep 'em coming!
Great tour as always Tom. Be careful Phil! Great camera work!
Excellent tour!
Such an information packed tour! Amazing as always, and so so laced with stories that connects to other historical events! Hmmmm... I am going to watch that classic movie, El Cid again. And Die Hard Vengeance...
Thanks for this video
Like the way you explaning, knowledge and humor great 👍
I'm new to the channel and already binge watching videos, very entertaining and informative, exellent work. Hope you get pulled for bigger and better things.
Love your videos that are mixed with knowledge and humor. Be safe!! Happy Holidays!!
I had a whole dream yesterday night where I interviewed you and you were telling me about how you loved being a tour guide. I woke up so confused. Anyway awesome tour as usual.
Grew up in Washington Heights, back in the 60's on 187th n St Nicholas Ave.. love that whole area.
This experience is really amazing Tom. I always love walking around new places I have never been to before. This neighborhood is very interesting especially with the history you shared with us. Thank you so much for the wonderful walk, my friend! :)

Planning to visit Washington Heights tmr. Thank you! Really fun video
Liked the video right at the beginning! Me encantan estos videos, Tom! Saludos desde Texas!! 😁
Very educational as usual.....vast amount of knowledge
Dude these videos are awesome, I lived in Inwood from 2001-2004, I'm learning more from this video than from my time living there!
Great video of Washington Heights! Thank you!
