I liked the card cut design, the patterned roller, the extruded handle, the handle made from the top 1/3rd bent over and attached , the handle made by cutting the rim almost off then bent and attached. As you can see by the list, most of the handle ideas I liked. Thanks Ann, another thought provoking video turning the simple handle into something special😊
I LOVE your "classes!" You are a great inspiration and you create amazing work with the simplest of tools and so much patience. As a novice potter it would have been very helpful if you'd included how you actually attached the handles, given that most of these had designs. I can't imagine how you could have done it without wrecking the pattern!
Ann, it is great to see what you do with results of your research and also how much of a response you get from your questions. Will be trying the spiral cut one at some point.
Thank you for this beautiful solution to being a terrible handle puller! Your video is awesome, showing simple steps to getting a great solution to a frustrating process for me. Very clear instruction. I am inspired to go out to my studio and finish the mugs I threw the other day with your neatly done handles...yeah! You have saved me lots of frustration and clay!
i pull my handles but this video was so inspiring! i loved so many of the handles you created! those loop handles, spiral handles, and the one with the rolled imprint tool--wow! so beautiful and exciting and inspiring! :D
Nice video. What are good ways of keeping the handle in the shape you want and to keep it up and prevent it from weighing down while it’s drying? Thanks.
What great ideas!! I had no idea how that one handle that comes down from the top and is still attached to the top was made. Thank you so much for these videos.
What beautiful ideas! I love the one where you made the mug twice as tall and pulled the handle down from that. But on that one, I was wondering, how then do you trim the bottom of the mug without ruining the top part of that handle???
Ann, I struggle with the "timing" of adding the handles. What is the proper amount of dryness for the mug and handles. Do you have a rule-of-thumb? 4 hrs drying? 1 hr ? or other easier way to determine the "when to add." Thanks so much.
Great ideas! The wisest use of a credit card😂love the last one and the whole idea of using the top part of the cylinder for the handle🌸✨thank you very much!
Haha, finally a way to use a credit card where you dont have to worry about depleting your bank account....I hope the video is inspiring for people to experiment. Thanks for watching, Ruti.
Ann buenos días. Te llamas Ann cierto? Pregunto, donde se consiguen estos rodillos con texturas. Busque en Amazon y no encontré. Vivo en Colombia y no he visto de esos.
Well, let me introduce you to the Pottery Handle Tower of Death! ua-cam.com/video/qYx3kZtFM0I/v-deo.html 10 Ways to Attach handles like you've never seen!
I'm using Standard English Porcelain #365 and about 1 pound for a 4" mug and a bit more for the larger mugs. Because each of my mugs are custom (I'm not a production potter) the weights will vary each time based on clients request.
I typically put handles on right after I throw the piece - not quite leather hard. The key is to be sure to match the clay hardness - if the piece is leather hard, then put a leather hard handle on it.
LOL I just Extrude my handles with a clay gun so they are more uniform and easy I use different dies for different mugs pitchers and pots. easy and a nice variety and the Extruder was not very expensive .
Vos vidéos sont super, malgré que je ne comprend pas votre langue,,, mais c’est bien joli comment faire une tasse quand on a pas de tour et pas les moyens d’en acheter….😉
Without pulling a handle, the molecules are not aligned, making for a handle with less integrity, i.e. it will break more easily than a pulled handle. Throwing the handles, as demonstrated, is a better way,.
I don’t know if it makes sense, but your voice sounds like the female version of the guy that narrates “How it’s made” and it’s just lovely 😌
You know when Keith Bryner cries at pieces that touch him, well my dear I felt emotional. Simply extraordinary. 👏 bravo 🙌

Thank you for the ideas. I really like the mug for left handed Since my second son is left handed. I find it a special present for him❤❤
LOVE that spiral cut handle. I love asymmetrical things and they are difficult to find.
Thanks for the great ideas Anne! ❤
Enjoyed learning how to create handles....Thank you for your suggestions and demonstrations on each one.
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for sharing these interesting handle ideas. Just what I was looking for on a cold Dec morning in Canada 🙂
The credit crd profile ones are my favoite. Thanks for all your effort to do this.
The good thing about that is that you can make any type of profile that you want. Thanks for watching Kathy! :-)
For the spiral cut handle, do you cut it at the leather hard stage?
No - just while I'm at the throwing stage on the wheel. Thanks

Amazing amazing amazzing
Awesome. As always!
Thanks Nancy...thanks for watching as always!
Great ideas!
Thank you! 😊
I've wanted to make the rim handle for a long time. I've created a pattern to build the mug but wasn't sure how to form the handle. Thank you so much
I love all of your videos. This was so helpful, thank you so much!
I'm so glad!
What beautiful ideas! I love the one where you made the mug twice as tall and pulled the handle down from that. But on that one, I was wondering, how then do you trim the bottom of the mug without ruining the top part of that handle???
I love the one with the rolled pattern! I’m definitely going to try some of these.
Thanks Jennie...would love to see your version!
Definitely gonna try some of these! The one where you make a 1 inch taller cylinder and use the top strip for a handle is such an elegant solution!
Very informative and inspiring! Thank you!
These are awesome! So elegant...Can't wait to try some of these.
Ann, I struggle with the "timing" of adding the handles. What is the proper amount of dryness for the mug and handles. Do you have a rule-of-thumb? 4 hrs drying? 1 hr ? or other easier way to determine the "when to add." Thanks so much.
love these examples. i'm curious why you didn't mention scoring and slipping the handles until the last one
Probably an editing decision by the cranky director of Unruely Productions :)
Great ideas! The wisest use of a credit card😂love the last one and the whole idea of using the top part of the cylinder for the handle🌸✨thank you very much!

Thanks Janice! Appreciate your comment and watching!

Hi Maritza. Yes, my name is Ann. Thanks for watching the video. Here is a link to where I got the roller....www.baileypottery.com/c-094-rm-002.html
Do you have a video on how to attach the handles? I seem to mush mine together.
Well, let me introduce you to the Pottery Handle Tower of Death! ua-cam.com/video/qYx3kZtFM0I/v-deo.html
10 Ways to Attach handles like you've never seen!
Do you have any trouble attaching the wheel-thrown handles when the mug body is still very wet?
Yep, especially with porcelain. I let it set up just a bit before attaching - not exactly leather hard but a couple hours after throwing. Good luck!
Love it❤️❤️
So incredibly helpful!
I love clay and it loves me too
WE think alike Joseph! Happy potting!
Amazing
Was looking for mugs you can stack in each others and were hoping you would show a handle with its bottom side open. Something worth trying?
Will put that on the list! Thanks for the idea!
Thank you Ann; can you tell us which clay you use ? Thanks
I have just seen Standard English porcelain...
Do you not score the mug and handle before attaching with slip?
Most of the time, yes. Check out our video on the 10 ways to attach handles to see my preferred method plus 9 more. Thanks for watching!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. May I ask how much clay do you use foe these mugs? Thanks
I'm using Standard English Porcelain #365 and about 1 pound for a 4" mug and a bit more for the larger mugs. Because each of my mugs are custom (I'm not a production potter) the weights will vary each time based on clients request.
How long after throwing did you wait to cut the handles from the top Are they leather hard?
I typically put handles on right after I throw the piece - not quite leather hard. The key is to be sure to match the clay hardness - if the piece is leather hard, then put a leather hard handle on it.
I especially wanted to be able to make the last to handles but found my clay to floppy and difficult to handle. Any suggestions?
How do you trim the mugs with the spiral cut handles?
What kind of clay do you use?
Primero que nada gracias por el video y por tu tiempo.
My pleasure! Happy potting to you!!!
Great video, thank you. Is that porcelain that you’re using?
Yep...Standard English Porcelain #365
I’d love to try the spiral…. Did you do this right after you threw or when it was leather soft? Thanks so much!
Leather soft is correct! Thanks for watching!
Muy interesante 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Where do you get those hand extruder for making this handles?
TIA
We get them from Diamondcore...they are great!
@@LittleStreetPottery thank you!
Keep up the great work, and many thanks for you sharing your videos
Can you make a video of how you attach the handles?
That is a great idea for a video. I will put that on the list. Thanks for the idea Ivy.
What surface are you working on?
Standard Porcelain #365. Thanks for watching.
SO nice
Thanks for watching Huy!
I notice you don’t score and slip before attaching handle - how does it adhere to the clay ?
watch our 10 tested handles vid to check out the variations...
Thank you
I tried two of these techniques - cutting a profile with a credit card and rolling a textures. Sure was a nice break from pulling handles.
Fantastic!
💗
SLAPPED FOREHEAD TWICE thank u, thank u.
Hi Lani! Dont hurt yourself, haha. Im glad this video could be inspiring. Thanks for watching!!! :-)

Then I attached it.. then i attached it.. then i attached it. Why don't you show that part? Are you bad at it?
You have to watch the Pottery Tower Handle of Death video to better understand my attachment issues. ua-cam.com/video/qYx3kZtFM0I/v-deo.html
Thank you for the ideas. I really like the mug for left handed Since my second son is left handed. I find it a special present for him❤❤
