"I am tired, and I am afraid" fucking mantra of my life
Very nice indeed. I might listen to this on repeat while hiding under a duvet.
This song is proper mint
Watching this on the train to go see him tonight. Haven't been this excited about a gig for a very long time...
i'm gonna be there too!
SULTANARE My god, that was absolutely amazing... What a voice, what a guitarist, what a great band and what incredible songs! Exceeded my very high expectations. Wow!
Mark Slater exactly, i only wish the crowd were singing along more but I can’t blame them when it was such a breathtaking performance. can’t believe this guy isn’t more well known
I cried
every single time it gets me. where we could raise a family!!! I'm shaking
@@sonofnothing The one that got me was:
Shovelling it in, I don't taste a thing. Only the memory of kisses spilled upon my chin
Me too. Every day.
Dude got some pipes on him.
Richard's music gives me a strange melancholy hope
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Album of the year so far with no doubt at all even if A Crow Looked at Me by Mount Eerie is also great. Transcendent perfomance playing and vocals, brilliant words.
Listened to this song and album constantly on eve of election...dread and hope abound
Me too!
His songs carry a deep emotional impact....
Oh yes the more I listen to this the more it grows. Quite brilliant. Reminds me of how Jethro Tull used to be to me when I was a young stoner.
I’m a young stoner listening to Richard Dawson. Right on brother!!
Oh my got me the feelies. Tingley neck and that. I in't one for crass patriotism, but this really gives me some warmth in my heart for my country. Not the posh tossers in Westminster or the old Queenie, but the working class spirit of Albion; the Luddites and Chartists, millburners and loom-wreckers, the soldiers off fighting for King George and the boys and the canary down the coal mine. I feel a connection. You don't find that in much music nowadays, it's summit special and should be treasured...
someone's read their E P Thompson
wow i haven't really seen anyone relate to working class british history, its usually like you say all feudal fetishism, i love this comment a lot
But... this is a song about a military deserter?
did you even listen to the lyrics
That is wonderful. Really looking forward to this next album.
Beautiful
i've listened to this song everyday since i first heard it a couple of weeks ago
i am very depressed and have been suicidal, but this song has helped me a lot
muth I hope things got better since you wrote the comment
muth hang in there friend.
muth you got this, my dude
muth if you’re still breathing, then you’re doing great . I hope its gotten better
Hope you're doing better rn friend
This kind of reminds me of The Microphones but with a more natural sound. Very nice song. Thanks melonman.
Ive found my new favorite celtic influenced artist, this man is so unique, definitely some incredible string band influences, that's a good thing.
This is great
Beautiful, exceptional.
such a beautiful song
Takes me to a place where things are less complicated....for nearly 7 minutes.
Victor Shackapopulus but the song is only 4:33 minutes long
fantastic
Richard Dawson man! You have won Sir
one day when its too late we will just love,
This is something very special. Love it.
I'm a fan of Pentangle and he looks like John Renbourn...so I'm happy! Amazing song
goddamn this album will be so good
So good man. Do your thing.
This is just reading how I feel at this moment. Glad he feels as down as I do.
one of my favorite songs ever
You lovely bastard. I bow to your tremendousness
Samuel Taryl's new project is dropping out of the dreadfort!
really nice.
I need tabs for this song so bad!
You'll get most of it here: ua-cam.com/video/_J1rRmV95Jo/v-deo.html
He is using an open tuning as well. Possibly an open C one.
play it how it feels to you .
💛
its lovely
Genius...
lovely
If we modern people can only try to imagine the brutality of a medieval battle, the horrendous wouds inflicted by sword, axe and spear, no pain killing medication or welfare system to look after you after the battle if you survive..no choice but to fight in bloody hand to hand combat..no wonder he feels "tired and afraid" contempating the unavovidable carnage to come and dont forget they didnt take prisoner in those days unless you were high born nobilty with families who would be able to afford to pay the rasnsom..all peasent prisoners were murdered en masse unless they managed to escape the battlefield
Dope.
I'm shaking. This just played on wvkr 91.3 and I'm absolutely gone
This sounds so 1973's the Wicker Man
You should listen to his song "Ogre", the vid is a wicker man reference lol
Thanks fantanny, this is good.
I knew Richard Dawson was the Terminator, he said "I'll be back" in this very song. How much more evidence do you want from me people. He knows all these old songs because he was there back in time looking for Marty McFly or Bill & Ted. He's just an actor visiting film sets. Although I am impressed with the accent he put on in this video. It didn't sound Eastern Europe at all.
Fuck, this is a great song. Hope he comes and plays it in Glasgow.
Oh shit this is incredible.
Thank you fantano
Why do the songs that say the most important things fly under the radar, oh why
je crie de loin de M approcher
Tom Ravenscroft :)
Gosh
0:28 - 0:34 is so beautiful
the guitar / recording style remind me of dancing is depressing by attic abasement
Jame Dont I can see it
not sure if this is total garbage or an absolute masterpiece, Ill keep listening to it because I'm not sure.
Have you decided yet? I’m in the same boat.
@@PaulJonesy i love this shit
It's excellent. There. I made up your mind for you.
i miss the harshness of the old songs
This is an old song...
Chords?
I couldn't interpret the line 'to the sunken monastry' would anyone enlighten me?
flynnyjunior the whole album is set in a dark age kingdom in the north of England where monasteries were regularly looted by vikings. I’m just guessing but I think the song is about a solider getting ready to fight a band of Vikings. Plus lindisfarne monastery was in north England and a famous Viking raid took place there
Thanks melon
Freakthony Folktano
What's melon? I feel like I'm the only person that doesn't know... surely not the food?
the needle drop channel on youtube
"My heart is full of dread" Did he eat a rasta?
David Raus Thank you, David.
Needledrop brought me here. Awesome
Sam from GoT has some pipes
That’s what I’m sayin. ♥️
Barry Lyndon-esqe
His melodies are similar to lal waterson
I liked him better on Family Feud.
