If you want to go to Dominican Republic only for the nice beach and stay in the resort go to Punta Cana. But if you want nice beach, enjoy the Dominican culture, see more beautiful places of interest to visit safely and better prices go to Puerto Plata.
Thank you for your excellent information! I have been to Puerto Plata, on a cruise docked at Amber Cove, I was happy to take an excursion to Puerto Plata and see (the real Dominican Republic) views from the mountain top, and the Statue of Christ. It's breath taking! I also got to see Umbrella street, and the town square. I like the history and the old buildings. It felt authentic. So I want to return. I am also considering Punta Cana. But it sounds more crowded expensive and Americanized?
Thanks for interesting video. 👍 I do not like all these modern resorts in Punta Cana. Therefore I started to think about going to Puerto Plata. Can you suggest some resort in Puerto Plata, more like in colonial style but not too ruined down?

Casa Colonial, Puerto Plata Village & Gran Ventana. You can find Victorian and Colonial style hotels on the North Coast. Puerto Plata has many Victorian homes.
Hi Vassily. Which town areas are better for older people who want a quiet location not in mega resorts and crowded area? How did you decide on the Dominican Republic rather than Mexico or other locations?
Hi Dovy Goodguy Dovy Goodguy! Thank you for your question. If you are looking for a quiet place without big resorts and crowds, you can consider towns like Las Terrenas, Cabrera, Sosúa, or Las Galeras in the Dominican Republic. These places have peaceful environments, beautiful beaches, and amenities for daily needs. The Dominican Republic was chosen because it has affordable living costs, nice beaches, and a welcoming community for retirees. Mexico is also a good option with places like the Yucatan Peninsula, but it depends on personal preferences and factors like cost of living and healthcare services. @@EverythingPuntaCana I find things rather overwhelming because of how everyone has valid opinions about every location in the DR. Yet some say Punta Cana is too touristy, too noisy, etc. especially for older folks who just want an enjoyable quiet time and aren't into athletics or night life. Whereas Punta Cana has better infrastructure. I assume your consultants are aware of this and can help to focus on the most appropriate way of getting to know the DR while doing it in a calm interesting way......?? Not to mention the allegedly chaotic Punta Cana airport.....
@@EverythingPuntaCana How is Las Galeras special for the older crowd, or the others for that matter? I know that smaller towns have fewer tourists, but what about amenities and infrastructure? Whether as tourist, snowbird or expat? What about the place called Dominicus?
How about Sosua? And the fact that Punta Cana is over congested and crowded? Where does one go as a retired couple for a nice quiet vacation or winter without big crowds and cruise ships, but near conveniences?
If you're seeking a quieter alternative to Punta Cana, Sosua offers serene beaches and a relaxed atmosphere. For a peaceful getaway without large crowds and cruise ships, consider Las Terrenas on the Samaná Peninsula, known for its beautiful beaches and laid-back vibe. Cabarete also provides quieter areas amidst its renowned water sports scene, while Bayahibe offers tranquil beaches and a local village feel. @@EverythingPuntaCana Thank you. Are the locations on the Samana peninsula with the usual amenities found around Punta Cana? It feels strange talking about this in the middle of that monster hurricane!!
Puerto Plata is the best destination hands down. Everybody in Punta Cana is from somewhere else. Hope I don’t sound racist and offensive, but when you leave the resort, the “natives” there are from another country. The cultures are completely different. along with their way of life. Puerto Plata is the gate to civilization in the New World and was founded by Christopher Columbus in 1503. In 1492 Columbus arrived to La Isabela west of the Province. Puerto Plata was the first European settlement in the continent, the first cemetery , the first catholic mass and first City Hall. It is the world capital of amber, it is the heart and soul of Dominican culture where our national rhythms Merengue and Bachata were born. It is home to one of the oldest Mason Lodges in the Caribbean(masonry has been practiced in Pto Pta since 1728). It was the first capital of the Dominican Republic.

Certainly! In Punta Cana, you can find more authentic areas beyond the tourist spots. Cap Cana offers an upscale yet local vibe, while Macao and Pueblo Bávaro provide a genuine Dominican atmosphere. La Altagracia nearby also offers a taste of traditional local life. For more details on these areas, check out our website at everythingpuntacana.com or blog for insights and recommendations.
