I am in Pyramid Lake in Southern California. I did not consider the GTX as the GTR is the boat I had been writing to BRP about creating. I had GTI's and wanted more giddy-up; they answered by building the GTR - I bought it and love it. Sea-Doo for fun, Sea-Doo for life.
Thanks Matt. I have to say well done with the suggestions to BRP. I was considering the GTI at first also, and wanted more speed and agility, then that took me to the GTX, but even that wasn't going to do it for me. I will give up the suspension for the GTR. I live in Southern Canada, and can't wait to go shopping in the spring!...or maybe I should just move to Cali!
Thank you for the answer, It really helped me decide wether to get this one, I love it but the non adjustable mirrors are a huge problem since im a safety freak
on the GTR the cruise control & depth finder are optional; they are modules that you can either purchase with your ski, or have them added at a later date. Water temp is standard feature.
more power than a GTI, but less fuel consumption than a 260 model. And i wrote to BRP in 2K7,2K8, & 2K9, 2K10, &'11 about doing just this (215 hp in a GTI hull). You cant beat the 'playfulness' of the GTI hull, and with 215 hp and only 760 pounds, its a flippin blast to ride! Sea-Doo for fun; Sea-Doo for life!!!
also the GTR is a GTI hull with a s/c engine. The GTI/GTR hulls have a 18.5 degree dead-rise as opposed to the 23 degree dead-rise of the RXT/RXP also; this gives it a riding style similar to a dirt flat-trak bike rather than a GSXR
@rockman386 Supercharger only needs service at 100 hr intervals; to replace the clutch washers on the impeller shaft and set 'slip'. If you are doing alot of ocean or choppy condition riding, you may want to get the wake, as it has a deeper 'V' hull. I L-O-V-E the GTR and the flatter bottom. although it beats you up a lil more in chop, it rides like a flat-track bike in calmer conditions; sliding around easily when you want it to.
@SuperMDuPont I love the sea doo. I was looking at the wake 155, now Im considering this one or the wake 215. I was concerned about the super charger and the maintenance of it. Do you have any input on that?
I wish I could post more up for you all now, but I am in the process of moving to Florida. The next vids of me on the GTR will be from Panama Beach, Florida...
@SuperMDuPont Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and bought the wake pro 215 four days ago. I have had it out once. I did not get on it hard, cause it states it takes 10 hours to break in. That is a long time, any thoughts on that. I only got up to about 43, did not want to mess anything up. This is my first sea doo!
@elcast No. Not to say it can't suck it down in a hurry, but there are 2 other settings besides 'SPORT', which is the highest power level. In 'eco' mode gas lasts quite awhile!
Does the ski have cruise control on it? Cause it looks like it has the switch. Also, does it have a water temperature sensor, or air temperature sensor? And what about like a depth finder??
i'm looking into buying this doo, it's a great video. just wondering if this was before or after the 10 hours of "breaking in" that the dealer suggest?
mirrors help, but wont replace a quick look-over-the-shoulder. ALWAYS look-over-your-shoulder. You really don't want them larger, or it could be a hazard to self, if for some reason, you launch over the front.
@jeffyp06 Acceleration is very, VERY good. The ski is about 60 pounds lighter than the current P-X, and almost 100 lbs lighter than the older P-X's. It rides just like a speedway bike, it'll turn or slide at a touch of the throttle! a real fun ride, and with gas goin up, the 215 gets much better 'gas mileage', especially with the 'eco-mode' turned on. Get one, you wont be sorry!
do you recommend the gtr, i've been riding my whole life and am really skilled but finally able to ride alone. In Arizona you have to be 12 but i ride my dads rxp with him a lot.
the engines do require a lil bit of a break-in, the factory ECM holds things back until (about) the 5 hr mark, then by 10 hrs. you have access to the full 215hp. The 'plow' is because the boat has adjustable trim and initially I had it a few 'kliks' down to keep it from jumping out of the water too much and possibly dunking me - the water temp was about 60 degrees that day, if I 'member right...
@simpsons52775 If you do alot of closed course racing, or off-shore riding, the RXP-X may be what you are looking for. For general all-around fun, and sliding around on the water, the GTR is the way to go! I've heard of some folks running the 260 out of gas in under an hour when riding hard or racing. The 'eco' mode cuts fuel consumption by at least 1/3, over all, but it also cuts avail. power.
top speed so far-64 but still less than 10 hrs; after 10 hrs, i understand they will close in on 68 to 70. waterproof storage - yes, unless the hood doesnt close properly. Yes it has a ski tow eye the reboarding step is optional there is a 10 hour break-in period. the ECU has a pre-programmed break-in flash in it when you buy, and after the initial 10 hrs, all 215 h.p. are available.
Nice Video- what state are you in(lake?) I was comparig to the GTX 215. did you happen to consider the same model? The GTX is a bit more money and heavier and I doubt it would be as fast as the GTR.
@macfan999 "yes" to the GoPro on a chest strap. Full tank of gas can last for a long time in 'eco' mode. you can also suk it down in about an hour if your WFO 95% of the time.in 'sport' mode.
Do these engines need a breaking-In period? Also, from the video it seems in a very light chop, this machine seems to plow through the water rather than cut through it. Perhaps it just seems that way only being able to watch the video.
Raceneked, nice ride. I have 260 love it, out of the box which cam. U r using, amazing vid. Wish to have the same brand so I can take my own vid. Thanks i
thanks man, i know that the gtr is based on the new gti hull which is deeper than my 09 gtx hull but not as deep as my grandpas 10 gtx hull, so im guessing its somewhere inbetween the two haha
depends on how your riding, and which 'mode' your in. In 'sport' mode you can go through a tank in an hour or so, if your hammering on it all the time; in 'eco' mode it'll last for 4-6 hours(+/-)
couldn't really compare/contrast the 3 for you. the only ski I rode before the GTR was a 2K6 GTIse. The hull of the GTR is the current GTI hull, I believe the GTX is based upon the RXT or maybe WAKE hull - I do not know for sure. I do know that riding my GTR is one of the funnest things i have done with, or without a swim-suit. It rides great in a lake and handles the ocean pretty darn well too.
depends on how its ridden, and in which mode. In 'sport' mode you can dump a tank of fuel in just under 2 hrs.; if in 'eco' it'll prolly last 4 to 6 hrs, mebbe longer. I can never leave it in 'eco' for long though...
@macfan999 Yes, recording with the GoPro on a chest strap. Had it in middle of sternum; as you can see it needs to be just a lil higher, which is totally within adjustment range of 'chesty'(as GoPro calls it) It varies, in the 'eco' mode gas seems to last forever!
@351Seymore yeah...its certainly not the 'cleanest' water I've been in. Good thing they treat the water in there before sending it down the pipe for Los Angeles to drink. Now they inspect your vessel for zebra/couaga mussels before you enter...
@simpsons52775 the goodies req'd to hit 260hp are less than the money you spend(extra) on the P-X. If its speed your after; check the "Conversion Ski Classifieds" @ greenhulk Theres usually a conversion ski capable of 80+ in there
@FRonTLinES10064 I don't do any racing and like the 'slip n slide' that the low dead-rise of the GTR hull gives. It is like riding a speedway (dirt)race bike on the water, whereas the RXP is more like a canyon (street) race bike. I have no experience on a Yamaha, so i can't really give you a comparison in those terms...
the GTR wont turn as well as your dads RXP. I say the ride of the GTR is more like a GTI. Would I recommend the GTR? YES!, I absolutely love riding mine.!!
Thats why I'm considering a 215hp instead of 260. It breaks the bank after an hour on the 260 and gonna be annoying as s**t to fill up every min. I assume I would get 2-3hrs out of the Gtr. Then again I really am an acceleration junkie...ohh sea doo you have me cornered lol
i just got mine yesterday im gonna be making a lot of videos of me rididng it and checking out specs if u wanna check that out anything u wanna see bout the jetski tell me
@rockman386 There should be a 'gimp' program in the ecu that makes you take it easy on the equip for the first 5 hours, then ramps up to full power at 10 hrs.. Come see us at greenhulk There is a ton of useful info, as well as a bunch of people to ride with.
can someone listen to me please! the new seadoo RXP X 260 RS best pwc on the market, not only the looks but all the new technologies and performance, there is alot of many small things i like about this jetski. before you buy anything first get a test ride, after you do so youl know what i mean.
I can't really speak to the advantages, or disadvantages as i have never ridden a yamaha ski. c'mon over to GREENHULKdotNET; theres alot of riders of all ski makers there and they will be able to speak to your question.
DONT BUY ANYTHING SEA DOO I HAVE A GTR 215 AND IT BRAKES 24/7 I GOT IT BRAND NEW LIKE 5 WEEKS AGO AND IT NON STOP BREAKS AND I NEVER GO OVER 30 MPH FOR THE BREAKIN PERIOD SO DONT BUY SEA DOO GO WITH KAWI ALL THE WAY
I am in Pyramid Lake in Southern California. I did not consider the GTX as the GTR is the boat I had been writing to BRP about creating. I had GTI's and wanted more giddy-up; they answered by building the GTR - I bought it and love it.
Sea-Doo for fun, Sea-Doo for life.
this ski R-O-C-K-S!!! and yes, it is a very good choice. You will soooo enjoy yourself on it.
I just purchase a 2013 at a Boat Show and got the 4 year service plan added, looking forward to the Sea Doo Life
i bought the same one and im sooooo in love with it ! a really good choice !!!
Again great video, seals the deal for me!
indeed it is! I love riding it!
Congrats on you new ride.
Good luck with it.
I´m looking foward to test this new GTR.
Greetings from Portugal... :)
your very welcome, enjoy your new GTR!!!
Sea-Doo for life; Sea-Doo for fun!!!
you will have a blast on it, no doubt!
Thanks Matt. I have to say well done with the suggestions to BRP. Thank you for the answer, It really helped me decide wether to get this one, I love it but the non adjustable mirrors are a huge problem since im a safety freak
you wont be soory for choosing the GTR! It is a very light, nimble and quick boat.
great jetski fun for cruising or tricks
great vid i just bought my new seadoo in january.
Great Video just bought the same one havent had my first ride yet
on the GTR the cruise control & depth finder are optional; they are modules that you can either purchase with your ski, or have them added at a later date. Water temp is standard feature.
opinions. I already have the GTR, have had it since Jan.2012 - no issues, at all.
The water temperature gauge is Not standard. Is this hull better in chop than a 2008 GTX 155 hull?
more power than a GTI, but less fuel consumption than a 260 model.
Sea-Doo for fun; Sea-Doo for life!!!
they are both great skis - I personally, would take the GTR 215
@pvp64
Glad it was help to you. Can't ewait to see the vid of you, on yours!
Looks awesome. I'm torn between a 2012 GTR 215 and a 2011 RXT 260.
also the GTR is a GTI hull with a s/c engine. The GTI/GTR hulls have a 18.5 degree dead-rise as opposed to the 23 degree dead-rise of the RXT/RXP also; this gives it a riding style similar to a dirt flat-trak bike rather than a GSXR
they are amazing!!
top speed is limited from factory to about 65-67
its my 3rd i just took it out on the lake on saterday. it was great.
you'll love it!! Plenty of zip, and good gas mileage, until you pin it!

GoPro HERO2 is what i use for my vids. Great cam & support.
...you will enjoy the GTR. Keep an eye on your carbon seal, s there have been problems with the 2012's...
@SuperMDuPont Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and bought the wake pro 215 four days ago. I have had it out once. I did not get on it hard, cause it states it takes 10 hours to break in. I always hated the extremely long no wake zone at Pyramid. Not to mention the floating debris in that lake....
@elcast
No.

...and yers; I absolutely LOVE riding the ski; it's like riding a flat-trak dirt bike!
@rodrigues1008
It is a total blast to ride.!! Get yours soon, I think they will be hard to get later in this year because they will be popular.
it is fine in choppy water; rides great in 2' chop.
mirrors help, but wont replace a quick look-over-the-shoulder. ALWAYS look-over-your-shoulder.

nice vid :D how long do you last with a full tank on that? and also are you recording with a go pro with the chest mount? Hope you like the ski!
hows the ride and handeling compared to a 2009 gtx 155 and a 2010 gtx 155?

wats the top speed?
@rockman386 Actually it was Friday when I purchased it.
Is that expensive on gas ?
...as fast as it will go.
someday - I want a 100 m.p.h. ski.

@SuperMDuPont that is a .net address
it'll do 68-70 m.p.h now.
yes...this is first ride. restricted somewhat, yes. restricted to about 7800rpm
Its GPS limited to 64/5. Its got more but the brain wont let it.
this was taken from 0.0 hrs to 1.5 hrs
I will see what i can do for you, but i'll warn you - I prolly suk at it..
Banana
I can't really speak to the advantages, or disadvantages as i have never ridden a yamaha ski. c'mon over to GREENHULKdotNET; theres alot of riders of all ski makers there and they will be able to speak to your question.
70; give or take a m.p.h. or 2
negative...
just no extended high rpm with the motor for the first 10 hrs.
any time.
Wish I could help more.
Come see us at GREENHULKdotNET; someone there will have the info you seek.
