  • Sure its not as quick as the traditional way to make a steak but you've got to try sous vide tri tip steak! Finished on the grill - its the best of all worlds: super melted in your mouth tender with a good charcoal taste on the outside.

That looks delicious! Going to have to do some research on the Sous-vide process. I've never seen that done before, but damn do I want to try this at least one time this summer.

I traveled the country looking for this cut of meat and was only able to find it in California. I really hope they start exporting it soon.

Ask a butcher. Super available and still cheap for some reason up here.

Thanks for a great video! I'm new to sous vide and I have a 3.5 tri-tip I'm going to cook. I'm confused about cooking times...I just watched another video where a tri-tip was cooked sous vide in one hour and 45 minutes. Your video states several hours. It seems like there are really varied cooking times for this procedure... (??)

Yeah when I did my research I saw a lot of videos saying 1:30-2 hours but then when I went on reddit I saw a lot of people doing tests where that 5 hour mark was the juiciest and most tender of all the times. If youre in a rush definintely go for shorter but if you got the time, I can definintely vouch that the 5 hour just melted away in my mouth!

There is simply no better way to cook a tri-tip. God made sous vide specifically for tri-tip

Pellet grill at 180 is probably a little better, but it's just about what you feel like doing

That rub name!! HA! Made me wonder if it has MSG in it, because I've heard a southern chef refer to MSG as "Jesus Tears". Maybe I need to branch out with my spice blends. Plenty of spices, just not many blends in my stash. Great video. Thanks.
Edit: You gotta trim those Vac Pack bags, my guy. For my OCD. That butter finish/sauce though! Makes me wish there was surf with that turf.
