What I think happened: the good ones are in jail, and someone bought the evil ones back
For one: the ninja wouldn’t hurt someone, but evil ones would
For two: at the end we see them with their normal eye colors, but the ones who are hurting the girls have red eyes so that means it could be the evil ones from s2 are back
Three: at the beginning we can see cole, kai, Jay, and zane being locked up in what looks like a jail type thing, by the evil ones.
And how they got in jail:
What if they weren’t able to defeat the evil ninjas in S2? Then they could’ve got caught and then garmadon would’ve won
So they couldn’t defeat them but the evil ones went into hiding, then they could’ve came back
They ended up fighting (and loosing)
But this what I just think happened
