It's comforting to me to watch these to know that even someone on a small budget can celebrate the holidays with a full meal. You always come up with very diverse recipes so a family can have variety even for a small amount of money.
It’s fun and affordable to be able to eat a home cooked meal on the cheap! I definitely need that to fit in my small budget years ago! I once chose to be alone one year for Thanksgiving or Easter, I had been overwhelmed with family dinners and get together that year, my family understood, so I got all my fixings for a turkey dinner, stuffing, potatoes and pumpkin pie, ate on my comfy sofa, watched a Netflix show, went back for seconds and never regretted it, but just one year, I need to not make that a habit! 😂
@@stephaniepapaleo9001 After years of being the one to cook for Thanksgiving and many other holidays, I should take a lesson from you. Just one year as you said.🙂🙂🙂
@@tynaedwards8452 yes! One time out of years, is ok, or you could pop in at dessert time! 😝 And don’t feel guilty, when you do, people will understand!
Not only is this a great way to do a holiday meal on a budget, but it also brings us back to a simpler time when holidays were more about the company and less about a stressed out host/hostess trying to go over the top to impress. Your menu of good tasty food, some sparklers, and a couple of lawn games (or board games), would all make for a great holiday memory. Thank you.
Yes! Stressing over food, decor, cleaning, etc just makes the event not as fun, so keeping it simple makes the event a great event to cherish for years !
I would be interested to see what kind of desserts you could make for a tea party or birthday party using DT items...and maybe one or two just on a bunch of side dishes...I know those aren't rounded meals but sometimes with things get-togethers like potlucks or something, we get assigned one type of item to bring like a dessert or like a side dish.
I've been binging your videos lately! Love your voice and delivery. I think you have a great imagination in putting these dinners together from $Tree foods.
Just a suggestion on the Esquite if your local Dollar Tree carries it: We use white corn and squeeze lemon on your corn before the mayo. Butter goes on after the mayo and before the queso cotija. The other ingredient is Tapatio or Valentina you put on before the Tajín. My DT carries all the items but idk if all do. You were pretty close to authentic for what you had but just wanted to mention the actual ingredients we use that copycat the "eloteros" (street vendors) 😊. Just a friendly FYI ~ Esquite is boiled corn served loose in a cup. Elote are also boiled served on a stick. Street corn is grilled 😊.
I was just at my local DT and unfortunately it doesn't have Tapatio, Valentina, or Queso Cotija. Also, she was doing a $20 meal so those extras would put her over $20.
She is making it similiar with the ingredients available and affordable. It is not meant to be exact. The way you make yours, I make mine. However, if I was on an extreme budget it wouldn’t be pratical.
....I suppose certain items are available or plentiful depending on the ethnicity of the demographic area. I live in a predominantly Mexican neighborhood and our DT carries Tapatio and Cholula. And there's a variety of canned corn products I've run into that issue a few times in wanting to try a recipe that looked easy and tasty. My local DT didn't have either the main ingredient (usually a freezer item) or a canned good that was necessary to complete the dish. And regarding the $20 budget....in my case because I know my family...I would've forgone the baked beans because no one likes them allowing that money to go towards hot sauce. And I assumed the majority of viewers have butter or margarine and mayo so that mayo money can buy lemon juice. It wasn't a comment pointing out that she was wrong in her way of recreating esquites, it was posted just to let others know how they can make it at home and share a couple ingredients they might not have known were used to make authentic esquite.😊
My comment wasn't intended as an affront to her idea or ingredients used. It was merely a suggestion on how we make elotes for an authentic taste. Because people can sometimes misread or take a comment differently than was intended, I was careful with my words and started with "Just a suggestion...". Because that's all it was. It wasn't me saying she was going about it the wrong way or that my way is the only way it should be done exactly. I also understand every DT carries different items so I wrote "if your local DT carries it..." because what's available in abundance at my closest DT may not even be an item they ever carry at the DT on the other side of town. Like I mentioned to the commenter before you...I live in a town that is predominantly Mexican and my town's DT has a lot Hispanic foods in their inventory but the one just outside of town does not. I also wrote that if we're staying under $20, I would not have purchased the baked beans (we don't eat them) and used that $ to purchase the hot sauce. I assumed that the majority of viewers most likely have butter/margarine and mayo. So the $ for mayo could instead buy lemon juice. My aim was not to takeaway from her dish on a budget. It was just to share the items one can use, in case they weren't aware, for the real and authentic elote taste. Of course, if you're on an extreme budget and don't have the assumed ingredients on hand, her method and items are a good way to go. But, I posted my comment to share how we make it and, if anyone has the ingredients on hand, they might want to try it that way. Then they'll know how to make authentic elotes at home in the future if they maybe get a craving for it. I just wanted to share my steps, as a suggestion, for how to make elotes at home with ingredients from the DT...IF your DT carries them or you just happen to have them on hand at home. This is not me trying to say "Do it this way..." or "Buy these instead..." especially if one is really struggling to stay under $20. So...practical? Maybe not. Doable when budget allows or if you've got everything on hand? Absolutely. I hope you had a safe and happy 4th with family and friends. Be blessed.
Great ideas! I made veg enchiladas with flour tortillas, 2 drained cans of rotel, cream cheese and cheddar cheese and enchilada sauce everyone loved them! I got 4 packages of the smoked sausages to grill, and for dessert cool whip, biscuit mix and frozen strawberries to make strawberry short cake . And a bag of frozen pepper and onions to go with the sausage . Hot dog buns and 3 bottles os soda. I spent $22.50

I always get excited when one of her vids pops up too!!! I have watched ALL them, recently came across her channel.. so when a new one comes up it feels like Christmas! I love that she makes simple/easy dishes, and in general just love her personality!
@@DollarTreeDinners As far as budgets go, 1) A small pumpkin skinned and de-seeded cut into chunks, a can of yellow corn, a diced onion and a diced can of spam topped with a box of vegetable broth and you have a great fall soup. 2) For the kids, a 1lb frozen roll of sausage or ground beef cut into 1/4" slices and fried stacked on a plate with a bowl of dinner rolls and some fixings and condiments and they can pretend they're making crabby-patties. 3) A small bag of rice, steamed then fried with diced spam and a can of seasoned field peas & snaps makes a great fried rice dish, season to taste with anything else but the seasoned peas is enough. 4) 2 cans potatoes (sliced or diced if available), 8oz jar mayo, spoon of vinegar, spoon of sugar, spoon of relish, jar of pimentos (diced) and mix together adding potatoes last so you don't smash them mixing. Instant no cook potato salad (if too juicy add spoonful of instant potatoes to thicken). I've been on SSI for 4 yrs now due to medical, waiting for full retirement age, I'm getting really good at budgeting. Before anyone asks, I was declared fully disabled in court but one of my last 3 yearly incomes was $45 over the limit so SS cut it back to SSI which is basically welfare. I've only got 2 more years to claim full retirement which is cheaper than going through court again to get upgraded to disability status.
I like your suggestion of plating things...because with my group, some of the parents really load their kids plates up and the kids don't eat even half of the food, so it wastes so much. The plating for people really saves from one person taking (and possibly wasting) everything and makes it fair.
Suggestion. Consider this. Turn your Suddenly Salad into a light summer meal. Make you salad as per directions, then add left over chicken and some cheese. I usually do Blue cheese of Feta cheese crumbles.
That dip is my kids favorite! We do it with corn chips instead of tortilla chips. I would love to see you get a rotisserie chicken & see how many meals you can make from the whole bird! I'm a single empty nester and a rotisserie chicken from Costco is $5 & feeds me lunch and dinner for an entire week!
I too love suddenly salad as a jump off recipe. I like to go through my fridge and take stalk on the veggies that absolutely need to be used up before they go bad. I then add some cheese olives and some kind of meat pepperoni salami or ham that I might have in the freezer and boom dinner 😊 Thanks I'm going to bake my hot dogs and check it out.
This is a great dinner idea! I love the "cookout without a grill" theme. I would've loved to do this when we were in our apartment and didn't have a grill nor a backyard. It would've saved me from going to my in laws for summer holidays! 😂

Those cookies can be split in half flat wise giving you 12 thinner cookies Or they can be cut into quarters giving you 24 mini cookies. Some coloured sprinkles on too before baking would give it a nice finish. The corn niblets you pan fried would have been yummy in your pasta salad
I have followed you since you had 300 or so subs on tiktok. I didnt know you had a UA-cam channel! My husband is losing his job of 24 years and things are about to get really really hard as he has a lot of physical limitations. Thank you for all these awesome ideas!
I lived in a developing country for a couple years and something interesting to me was that the hostess always prepared the plates. As a picky eater it definitely wasn't my favorite thing, but it was easy to see how it prevented people taking too large of portions or running out of some things. And when food was served buffet or family style the leftovers were often taken to other people so if the host wanted food for another day it was better to not put it out.
I love how you always show so many ways to cook foods for people who may not have certain things like a grill or oven or instapot and also if you can’t afford certain ingredients or don’t have them available that you can substitute them for other ingredients we may have
I love your videos, and have started shopping more at dollar tree since finding your channel. My favorite find so far are the Elies bagels! They are so good, better than any expensive ones I've tried
@DollarTreeDinners whenever our store has them I stock up and freeze them 😆 that's the only critique I have about dollar tree, the randomness of the products they have in stock, but I understand why it happens. From your videos it looks like you have a nice store near you!
Agree the Elie's bagels are excellent. I try to stock up on the bagels and English muffins if I see them. Price at Dollar Tree is cheaper than even Walmart or other supermarkets around here.
I just had to try your ideas out. Everything came out so awesome!!! But I did add my twist to it. I took a Cole slaw mix and added Ken's Sweet Vidalia Onion dressing to it.
We are grilling hamburgers tomorrow. I was looking for a side dish idea that wouldn't break the bank. The corn dish will be perfect. Later this week, I was planning hot dogs for one night. The sloppy joes would be so yummy. Due to allergies we can't do the canned sloppy joes. If anyone else has that problem, I found an easy sauce of ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar. Mix it to taste and heat throughly before adding cooked meat.
thanks for another great video. Hot dogs in the oven are good, but yes, they do tend to shrivel up some. Must be from something they are putting in the meat. My favorite way to do hot dogs is in the air fryer at 400 for about 10 minutes, depending on how dark you like your hot dogs. You can also throw in an ear of corn with them and it will taste like fresh, grilled corn. That is by far my favorite way to cook both things. Happy 4th. Stay safe everyone!!!!
Ooh...that dip looks delicious! I'm going to have to make it (and maybe make a vegan version for my allergy-restricted family members). I often make street corn as a side and it is so good! I think you gave some great options for delicious but slightly different than just a standard menu items. If you have a little lime just, it would be great to add to the street corn.
Great video. I never severed appetizers because everyone would eat them and not the main dish. So I severed them later at night when we had the munchies, this way they eat dinner and not a lot of wasted food. If people where drinking they would have something in their stomach to off set the alcohol.
Great job on this for only $20!! I'm impressed! As far as the hot dogs of that size, what I do sometimes is boil them in a sauté skillet with about half the size of the hotdog with water and kind of roll them around until the cook inside, then I dump any excess water and add a little bit of oil to brown them up a little bit. It works great because they don't dry out and have a nice snap. :)
This is a great plan and i love how everyone gets a little bit of lots of different sides. Those Dollar Tree boxes of pasta salad are small but i only cook for two and it's actually perfect for my son and i. I miss Sloppy Joes so much. My son typically doesn't like them so they haven't been in my rotation for years. Every now and again he'll agree to letting me cook them but even when he was small he never really cared for them. Maybe he would be interested in trying a Sloppy Joe Dog!🙂 Thank you so much for sharing these ideas.
It looks as if you have an air fryer, and I just wanted to suggest that you try cooking hotdogs using it. I do that almost exclusively now, and it reminds me a lot of how the oven hotdogs turn out.
Great ideas, Thank you so much for sharing...Funny thing is, I always use leftover sloppy joe meat for coney dogs. I freeze it and use iy later. Hot dogs are great in the air fryer for those who have one!! QUICK & TASTY
I bought a bacon ranch pasta salad kit, blue cheese dressing, mayonnaise, shredded pepper jack, and a packet of Buddig roast beef at my local Dollar Tree. I made the pasta but altered the sauce by using 2 tablespoons of mayo and two table spoons of blue cheese dressing with the included seasonings, and shredded the lunch meat. I mixed the meat, sauce, cheese, and pasta together. It was awesome! The next day, we added some crumbled feta, bacon bits, and a tablespoon of ranch dressing to change it up a bit and served it with our crudites, fruit and nut tray, and some tatziki for a nice summer lunch.
this is the best channel I've seen it help the low income folks and I am one of those and they are easy recipe to make and I love watching you do this and come up with recipe your beautiful and great charming adorable person and I respect you for that thanks for sharing
This is excellent for a young family trying to get on their feet or a family with a lot of children. Excellent and delicious ideas for a fun family meal.
Great video!! I, too LOVE the Suddenly Salads . I chop tomatoes, cukes, onions, and cheese , sometimes celery ( real fine) and Spam or Ham , sometimes I add black olives . And mix all that with a box of the Ranch flavored and a box of the Italian flavored. I also add a little more mayo, dressing … Anyway My family eats it up!! They love it . You can really get creative with it! 😊
I cook hotdogs in my toaster oven. I put it on toast, but obviously have them on a tray. Once the toaster finishes, I turn the hot dogs, and toast them again. I love the darker spots they get.
This channel is very wholesome. Gives a comforting family vibe. Sometimes in life you work w what you got & how much you have. But you make the most out of everything! Hope your channel gains more traction. 💪🏾💯
I have been binge watching your videos since I found you. You've given me so many ideas to feed my family on a budget. I have plans to make several of these. Thank you for blessing the world with your gifts!
i make corn similarly at home. i suggest you add it to the skillet when the corn is dry and just let it sit for a few minutes without movement, that allows a crust to form aka the brown grilled look!
I thought you were inventive with some relatively basic ingredients and factored in that time is also an ingredient which we must consider. Well done video!
Idk if you know this but you can bake the hot dogs in a casserole dish on top of the baked beans. That's how my grandmother taught my mom then my mom taught me. You can use a flavored baked beans like Bush's. If you are using pork and beans, just add a little Karo or brown sugar and a couple of squires of mustard. Lay the hot dogs on top and bake until the edges of the beans get carnalized and the hot dogs a little golden. You can add a layer of bacon in between if you have it. Usually about 20-30 mins on 350 will do the trick.
Ohh i never thought to bake the hot dogs but I think I'm gna try that tomor. I have to make a ton and my niece is gonna be my helper so maybe I can teach her something new. ❤ I love the recipes you come up with!
I'm making every dish for our next gathering. You're remarkable 😊 Another option for dogs is boil slowly then put on heated grill pan on the stove adds grill marks.
As always… GREAT JOB! I had a thought about pre-serving, it’s such a great idea. What about investing in the little glass (4 pack) of pinch bowls? Maybe you could make a holiday “serving ware” video? I wish stores near me sold the bagels! They’re great, I also used to be able to buy pita bread back in the day
@DollarTreeDinners whenever our store has them I stock up and freeze them 😆 that's the only critique I have about dollar tree, the randomness of the products they have in stock, but I understand why it happens. From your videos it looks like you have a nice store near you!
Agree the Elie's bagels are
excellent. I try to stock up on the bagels and English muffins if I see them. Price at Dollar Tree is cheaper than even Walmart or other supermarkets around here.
you are super articulate when describing food. great videos! i hope u get 500k more followers gurl!
I just had to try your ideas out. Everything came out so awesome!!! But I did add my twist to it. I took a Cole slaw mix and added Ken's Sweet Vidalia Onion dressing to it.
Buttering the outside of the bun before heating it up and serving it is divine…try it!
I think I've said this before, but I really appreciate your no nonsense approach to making these videos. Thank you, I enjoyed it!
appreciate your comment on cotija cheese, you know your stuff and you made do! this is an amazing video for a budget 4th of july dinner :)
That's such a good idea 💡
I love that your doggy gets interested and shows up behind you, checking in case you dropped anything lol. Love it!
We make that same dip! Sometimes we use refried beans in place of the chili. Easy and delicious!
Yum!
I love your videos! You are so creative!
Everything looked amazing 🤩. We always use Parmesan cheese when we run out of Cotija cheese lol it’s about the same 💕
I absolutely love your videos you seem so down-to-earth genuine and likeable. Keep the videos coming
My kids love them in the air fryer
I air fry my hotdogs now. So good.
It looks as if you have an air fryer, and I just wanted to suggest that you try cooking hotdogs using it. I do that almost exclusively now, and it reminds me a lot of how the oven hotdogs turn out.
I'm a grown man and watched this whole thing 😅 Thankyou I enjoyed every minute
❤Your amazing❤. Love those dishes and ideas you come up with! And Elotes are the bomb!!!🎉🎉🎉

This is excellent for a young family trying to get on their feet or a family with a lot of children. Excellent and delicious ideas for a fun family meal.
You are so creative ! I would never come up with these clever hacks. Good job!
I agree with baked hot dogs. I actually put the oven on broil and they are so yummy and so much easier than messing with a grill.
Never baked hotdogs before- love that idea & they looked really good! Enjoy your channel!
ALL GREAT IDEAS!!!! I’m always excited to see a post pop up from you!!!! 😊
I also add a little more mayo, dressing …
Anyway My family eats it up!! They love it .
You can really get creative with it! 😊
Looking forward to having this on the 4th. Kids can help make and definitely good on my wallet. Tfs have a great 4th!🩵❤️
As times keep getting tougher i do appreciate this. I hope you keep doing more! This was awesome and thank you! 😊
I cook hotdogs in my toaster oven. I put it on toast, but obviously have them on a tray. Once the toaster finishes, I turn the hot dogs, and toast them again. I love the darker spots they get.
Putting a small amount of oil in a skillet and sautéing the hot dogs is the best way I’ve ever found to cook hotdogs. SO GOOD!!
I'm going to try the baked hot dogs, never thought about doing it that way. Thanks!
You are so creative and have a great talent for putting foods together to make meals! Blessings!
Well done. As always watching from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦

You did amazing!!! I will definitely try the hot dogs in the oven...thanks for sharing!
i make corn similarly at home. i suggest you add it to the skillet when the corn is dry and just let it sit for a few minutes without movement, that allows a crust to form aka the brown grilled look!
That chili dip has been a staple at every family party for 25 years!!!
I am so glad I found this channel, I have been binge watching all your videos! Thank you!!!
Looks great! I have found frying hot dogs in my cast iron to be my favorite way of making my dogs. Great job!!
Wow, Those franks look so good with the cheese. You have some great ideas!!!!
I thought you were inventive with some relatively basic ingredients and factored in that time is also an ingredient which we must consider. Well done video!
Loved the ideas. I’m using the chili cheese dip recipe for football season
Always great presentation. Happy c4th!
These are such great ideas, no matter the budget! Thanks for your creativity!
Air fried hot dogs are amazing also. Love your channel!❤
So glad your back!!! Just be YOU!!! Luv and Miss you!! 🫶🏽
Absolutely brilliantly done ❤❤❤
I love your videos! You have given us so many different ideas for menus that are affordable. Thank you!
Everything looks delicious!
You really do bring some greatness in preparing the dishes 😀
Idk if you know this but you can bake the hot dogs in a casserole dish on top of the baked beans. That's how my grandmother taught my mom then my mom taught me. You can use a flavored baked beans like Bush's. If you are using pork and beans, just add a little Karo or brown sugar and a couple of squires of mustard. Lay the hot dogs on top and bake until the edges of the beans get carnalized and the hot dogs a little golden. You can add a layer of bacon in between if you have it. Usually about 20-30 mins on 350 will do the trick.
You are extremely articulate! Definitely Food Channel material😊
Ohh i never thought to bake the hot dogs but I think I'm gna try that tomor. I have to make a ton and my niece is gonna be my helper so maybe I can teach her something new. ❤ I love the recipes you come up with!
Thank you for sharing your ideas, so nice 😊
If you have one, hot dogs in the air fryer!! Bomb! P.S. Everything looks delicious AND those cookies are the best!
omg for a minute i thought you were adding mayo to the rainbow cookies and i was like omgggg what lol thanks for another amazing video!
I'm making every dish for our next gathering. You're remarkable 😊
Another option for dogs is boil slowly then put on heated grill pan on the stove adds grill marks.
As always… GREAT JOB! I had a thought about pre-serving, it’s such a great idea. What about investing in the little glass (4 pack) of pinch bowls? Maybe you could make a holiday “serving ware” video? Then you could reference that video when you do these holiday videos. People could budget it and use it over and over again.
I have a thing about food “touching” 😂 and I know (adore!!!) Dollar Tree has great dishes…bowls…stuff…you could, if you knew, you had a picky macpickerson like me coming to party have an adorable setting for them
@@PatriciaPerkowski I am legit the same way! You know those “veggie trays” that have like 5 slots and the little bowl in the middle… I’ve always thought about using that on Thanksgiving so my food doesn’t touch. 😂 I often use more than one plate for that very reason.
@@kerrigomez8445 lol…omg YES!!!
So very helpful, thank you for sharing. I love your videos! Happy 🎆🎆🎆 4th of July ‼‼
