  • ** Note ** In this video I say WIFIRanger recommends 12 feet of space between Denali and other objects on roof.....it is only 2 feet. Sorry for that. **
    We review the new "Denali" Wi-Fi Booster from WIFIRanger. This device, along with their "Spruce" router can increase RV park Wi-Fi coverage and allow you to combine your phone/hotspot data into one powerful and FAST internet connection.

    Jim. Thanks for taking the time out of your schedule to post info about your knowledge and experience you’ve had while using wifi ranger products. I’m interested in purchasing some of their products but not 100% certain of everything I actually need. Im most likely going with the Everest model as soon as it is available. That being said here is my scenario that im trying to accommodate.
    I have acreage in the mountains of Western North Carolina. On the property i have a house that has power and high speed Internet access from Spectrum. Im trying to get wifi up to my cabin about 1/4 mile above the main house. The house is situated in the middle of acreage that is all clear with no trees. The tree line begins about .20 of a mile below the cabin and the property is heavily wooded. Would i be able to set up the everest router on the roof of the home with it connected to my ISP and shoot the signal up the mountain so that we could connect? Or would i have to put the everest on top of the cabin and shoot it towards the main house? Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Cell service isn’t available in this rural area and we only have solar power at the cabin. Thanks again. Doug

      You would put the WiFiRanger in your shed and pull from the WiFi being transmitted from your house.

    Hello Jim, Thanks a million for the WifiRanger information. Went for our maiden camp out with the wifiranger that Newmar pre-installed in my 2021 New Aire. I tried all weekend to get the network setup. No luck. I tired my iPhone 12 and the campground’s network. I could not find a way to login to Tangonet which the park used or my cell. Might there be detailed procedures for me to follow? I am taking copious notes from your video too. Many thanks for the guidance. John

      John...do you have the Spruce and Denali setup? Once in the menu, you should be able to see the RV Parks SSID. Selecting that, will allow you to enter their password and you should then be connected. All of your devices would then connect to your personal SSID from the WiFiRanger. Have you completed setting up the WiFiRanger with your own SSID and passwords?

    Hello Jim, I would also like to thank you for the video. It definitely explained a lot. I just purchased a 2021 Newmar Ventana 4369 with the same setup as John Harper. Our family just got back from our first camping trip. I was able to connect to the KOA wifi but not sure which network I should have logged into because a total of 3 was showing up for my RV, one for the Denali, one for the Spruce (actually two 2ghz and the 5ghz) and I think there is one for a router. It is very confusing. I have four Samsung TVs and I think they somehow they connected them to the router wirelessly. I wish they would have went over this from where I purchased it but they probably would know less than what I do, HA! Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you again, Nathan

      I tend to use the Denali WiFi vs the Spruce. It can reach out to RV park much easier. I would recommend turning off "Broadcast SSID" on both, as you don't need to do that, as your systems will see your SSID and connect. I HIGHLY recommend naming your Denali SSID/Password the same as your home...that all your devices see it and connect...no issues. Configure your TV's to connect to Denali SSID (again...same SSID as home). Your Denali will see the SSID from KOA...use the Denali web page to log into KOA's SSID. Then you're all set. Your devices will connect to Denali's broadcast SSID and you're online!!

    We bought a used 2021 NewMar last fall and it had the Denali and Spruce installed. Any recommendations on how to get this all set up? I see you on the "module" but I do not know where that screen would appear.

    Why would I need to use my phone for a hotspot? Doesn’t the Denali have a cellular SIM card built in?

    • @tannerjim
      @tannerjim  3 роки тому

      You can absolutely use your phone as a hotspot. I like having a dedicated hotspot so I can take my phone in/out of the RV and we still have coverage inside. Yes, you can also order a SIM with the Denali, but that ties the SIM to that device and then I couldn't take the hotspot with me for use outside the RV.

      @@tannerjim Do you use a jetpack or something similar? So you just use your rooftop antenna/modem for WiFi booster and then use the hotspot plugged into the spruce router for cellular data? We have Verizon and I was reading the wfiranger doesn’t support their SIM card and I like the idea of using the cellular booster built in the Denali. Just need something reliable for wife’s work. We have satellite for tv and don’t stream much

      @@MPLS-to-YUMA OK...I did a poor job answering. I combined the WiFiRanger and Surecall Cell Booster info...sorry about that. If an RV park has Wifi, we boost with WiFiRanger and add cell to router for more bandwidth. If we are dry camping and only have ability to use cellular for internet, then we use SureCall Cell booster and hotspot vs cell phone. Is that clear.? Sorry about confusion.

    I waited almost two years for the Everest to start shipping before I made my purchase. Now I've been using it and an Aspen for close to a year. Simply, they are expensive junk. Neither will stay connected to any outside internet source reliably, they crash regularly and must be manually reconnected, the control panels do random weird things that make no sense, and most of the advanced features they tout don't work (including failover to a second internet source, and load balancing or combining between sources). (Support remotely logged into my routers to "optimize" the settings to improve my reliability; all they did was turn off all the features that I bought the system for! Seriously. And the routers still crash.) Although the Everest and Aspen are connected with the ethernet cable supplied with the kit, the Aspen regularly loses contact with the Everest. I have been talking to Support for almost the entire year, since the original ethernet cable they sent was defective, and they replaced the Aspen after it stopped booting after just 3 months. Even now I still have an open trouble ticket since November but Support keeps saying it must be power problems (but they provided the power brick that powers both Everest and Aspen), the wifi I connect to is unreliable (although I have the same problems will ALL wifi networks I connect to), or my "environment" is causing the problem (but they won't explain what that means). Support doesn't look at any logs, completely read my detailed problem descriptions, nor do they perform any troubleshooting; I'm convinced they know the firmware is unstable. I've asked repeatedly for a refund but they deny my request. Support has gotten much worse since WifiRanger was purchased by Wineguard. Oh, and the firmware for both Everest and Aspen are STILL IN BETA, after being sold for over 2.5 years now. I always thought that Beta (uncompleted, unstable, still being tested) software was put into production (fully tested, reliable) before it was sold as a product... But what do I know? I'm only a software programmer myself, with over 20 years' experience. WifiRanger: Such great marketing, so much promise, but ultimately, so much junk! I also have an older, unimpressive, Sky4 that is more reliable than this Converge system. I'm not alone; read reviews on Amazon and other locations.

    dude you do not explain things very well. you need to show the connections. you skip way too much. is the denali a router as well? how do you connect using just the denali? cable, usb?? ethernet??? when you connect to the spruce do you loose the range of the denali? are there two systems???

    • @tannerjim
      @tannerjim  3 роки тому

      Did you watch and listen to what I said? I clearly show and talk about using both the Denali and Spurce as routers. I go thorugh and show you the signals each one can see. The cable from Denali is shown in the begining of the video. I'd be happy to watch your video, to see how I can improve in the future. Just post a link to it here when it is ready.

      @@tannerjim i don't have a video. i am trying to decide what to buy for my RV. you did not clearly explain that there are two routers and how they work together. Why do we even need the spruce if it does not use the antenna? if you use just the denali how do you connect it to your phone or laptop? can we use any router? i already have a netgear router...will that work? also what if you don't have a 12 volt plug. you assume that we know how to connect the wires and plugs. I watched your video again to make sure i was not missing something. you show the chord but do not explain if it is 12 volt? I assume it is. also you state that we can get either the Denali OR the spruce. how does that work? Doesn't the spruce need an antennae? when you "Jump into the tool" for wireless connection you do not explain how you made the connection to your laptop or phone. Doesn't something have to be plugged in? how and where did you power it up? Did you direct wire it to the battery? 12 volt plug...??? you also say that when you plug in the spruce that you get 5ghz? can you use both the denali and spruce at the same time? if the spruce gets 5ghz but does not use an antennae then what is the point because you have no range. how does the spruce get its signal? does it have its own antennae? you skip a lot of steps.

      You’re right he didn’t explain anything very well at all now I’m not sure if I just need the Dinali or I have to have both the Denali and the Spruce didn’t show how to connect just to the Denali to configure it and if you can tether all kinds of devices to just the Dinali without the spruce! Basically he just told us how to change the name and password
