If anyone notices the difference in Whizzer’s clothes in the two racquetball game scenes, Andrew has a bigger set of clothes in the second game to show that Whizzer has lost weight due to AIDS, showing a symptom before we even know what happens to Whizzer :(
yeah i remember being like... that shirt doesn't fit Whizzer so well, weird.... OH FUCK IT's the AIDS crisis, then I cried, then Whizzer collapsed this show :-(
So after “Once i was told that good men get better with age” In the soundtrack, Marvin goes “You’re just going to have to skip that stage.” Which just means that Whizzer didn’t get a chance to live a better life, which is true. Here however, it hurts more as he says “We’re just gonna have to skip that stage.” Which implies that Marvin won’t live to have a better life either and that he’ll die soon after Whizzer. Anyways, I’m crying
I FEEL LIKE CHRISTIAN TRULY HAD A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH ANDREW AND CARED FOR HIM A LOT. IM SURE THEY BONDED QUITE A BIT DURING REHEARSALS AND ID LIKE TO THINK HE WAS THINKING OF ANDREW ACTUALLY DYING TO CRY
Two things I just realised about the ending’s metaphors: 1. The part taken out of the cube for the gravestone never gets put back, so the cube (the family and friends) are incomplete after Whizzer’s death 2. When Jason puts the chess piece on the gravestone, the game (of life, following the rest of the chess metaphors in the musical) is missing a piece so won’t work the same, just like they’ll never be the same without Whizzer
I really thought it was because Jason promised to let him win when whizzer was in the hospital. Also Jason went first meaning he was white and placed the white king on his grave, meaning he let whizzer win even though they never got finish playing.
Okay but the ending. They take a piece of the cube out to have it as Whizzers gravestone. And the cube is used as their homes. Without that part of the cube, their homes will never be complete again. Without Whizzer, their homes will never be complete again.
not in this video but in I'm Breaking Down, the part where Trina says "I'd rather die that dry clean Marvin's wedding gown" when i first watched Falsettos i just thought "oh she's just making a stereotypical gay joke, as a gay person i find that a little funny." but every time i rewatch it i get so sad because Marvin can't marry Whizzer. Not to mention the fact it wasnt even legal at the time, and who's to say he even wants to, marriage isn't every ones end goal. but *if* he did, he cant. His friend, his lover got taken before he ever could, so that line makes me irrationally sad
My mom brought me to see the proshot in theatres when I was little☠️ she created my type in men (christan borle) and women (Tracie Thoms) and made the core memory of the "weeee!" In march of the falsettos
I feel so stupid crying over this 😭😭😭 When Whizzer and Marvin are singing What Would I Do, actual tears came to my eyes when I sang along and my voice broke in this ugly way. Dude, a musical is breaking my heart. Times like these I wish I wasn’t interested in Falsettos so I can spare my tender feelings 🥲
I love that the few times I have seen this musical I have cried every time. Sorry. Did I say cry. Silly me. I meant every time I watch this musical I ball my eyes out like a little baby. Why do I put myself through it knowing that I will cry?
During the last song that Marvin sings, the background is the colors of the bisexual flag. In a previous song (I don’t really remember which song, but I do in fact remember it) you find out Marvin is bi when they literally say so. I think it’s a great addition to the show ngl
@@catsrcool328catDo you know what song? I’m just a bit confused because I’ve listened to these songs a bunch and I can’t recall anytime that they said he was bi
@@catsrcool328catthey didn’t. As far as I am aware Marvin is a gay man, and he divorced his wife because he knew he could never love her in the way she wanted him to because he was gay.
When I first heard about this musical I was like oh cute I'll watch but I didn't expect to be crying at the end. Also Fun Fact: This was the first musical that I actually cried to (Full on tears) Especially when the physicist (I forgot his name) put the grave down. 😭
Fun fact i just firgured out this morning; if HIV/AIDS is a STI, that means either marvin or whizzer already had HIV but didnt know (probably whizzer had it first since it affected him first), and passed it on to the other. Marvin probably died shortly after the show ends

That’s really sad… oml. I didn’t notice that before but now I can see it. Poor sweet Whizzer :((
Also his breathing sounds like he's wheezing a lot more during the second game

i always imagined the chess peace meant that the game was over cause they captured the king(whizzer)
I thought it was because white goes first and Whizzer died first.

Marvin’s tiny “hows it going dude?” is SO FUNNY
Fun fact: The last word Jason says at this bar mitzvah, the last word he ever says to Whizzer, is Hebrew for “father” 🥲
Me: knowing how Falsettos ends and knowing I always cry watching it
Also me: maybe this time it'll be different!
