- I'm seriously not the type to cry when watching kdramas, movies, or literally anything. But this..twenty-five twenty-one just made me cry like a total baby.
Despite popular opinion, I actually really love the ending. It has the perfect amount of bittersweetness to show the growth of two individuals living their dreams which results in sacrificing their relationship.
2521 reminds me a lot of La La Land. They both have the same impact on me, leaving a huge lump growing on my throat. Large enough for me to swallow hard and cry. I hope this edit gives justice to just how amazing this kdrama truly is!

To me, this drama captures the ups and downs of adolescence and life really perfectly. How beautiful youth can be when spent wisely with the people you love. However, as you grow, your priorities change, and the people who were once right for you can no longer be the ones. You grow apart, but that doesn’t mean that the beautiful times you had spent together meant nothing. Those times spent are the moments that helped you grow and brought you to where you are now. Those people might not be in your future, but they will always be a part of your past, and yourself❤
I agree with you about how great and masterpiece this drama is , it's a never made drama , I had never ever seen such a great drama which compels you to go in that era of love but I am not in favour of the ending , bcz it was made uselessly undigestive type that was hard to accept as the other were in relation irrespective of the diff country they are living . It's like writer didn't care about the audience a bit ,write made ko yo rim impossible relation possible but not of Baekdo and in last Baek Ye Jin did return back to Korea it's like wat the hell , for dre job dey left there love it's giving vomitting and nausea the day it has been released cause just it was just about few year can't Hee Do had managed in long distance , it's frustrating dat jst in 1 ep they changed the whole meaning of love

i think the ending also makes sense cuz as hee do said she's been thinking abt their relationship growth n breakup for 6 month, she was indecisive of her future if she allows yi jin to become an important part in her life. She's been through this all her life cuz her mom, she does not want to endure it anm. You know in a relationship, people tend to give up for one another for it to work, but giving up is hard sometimes too. If giving up sth does not make u happy or against ur will, it's not gonna work. I guess hee do is exhausting in trying to understand her loved ones both her mom and yi jin, if we ask why cant itbe another way around? Why don yi jin give up sth for her instead if she cannot? Thats the whole point of this drama, it reflects reality a lot, love should be even for both parties. And like i mentioned, if ones does sth against their will, they will not gonna be happy w it. Either giving up a career or love in between. In their situation, their love has engraved in their heart as always, it's one of the best memories of their first love, and they want it to remain in that way. I think it's a happy ending for both of them, they ended it w good memories. As a viewer perspective, i did not feel happy abt it cuz the director wanted usnto feel that pain the same as the characters, yet i did not get disappointed at all whether it is a happy or sad ending, i will still gonna be satisfied w both of it. Cuz this drama is literally WHOLESOME.
This drama indeed is a masterpiece, however they could have married after Heedo's retirement. After all the heartbache and distance for years together, they could have reconciled after Heedo's retirement 😭😭😭😭

The writers went for a realistic ending, forgetting that they had them meet over a newspaper breaking a statue, which is far from realistic.

to be completely honest, I am not in favour of this ending. The whole drama was based on the build up of their relationship. It ending in just 2 episodes felt like a slap to my face. Yes i get the message they were trying to potray and seeing the ending, i wish they would have stayed friends. What confuse me is how easily their relationship broke. They were so much stronger than this and had gone through alot. If only they gave it a try one more time. In the end, he chose his career and she chose not to live a life full of waiting (but ended up marrying someone who's away from home just like yijin so it was all for nothing.) I wish the group wouldve stayed together as well. YES all good things come to an end, but some friendships do stay. Not everything ends in a bittersweet manner. I wouldve loved to see something like them struggling to keep their relationship afloat but thats what matters. That they're trying. In the end, they both felt out of character and I hate to think they never could go back to being friends. Just two people with beautiful memories supporting eachother from afar. I think i wouldve been satisfied if at the end when adult heedo is at the tunnel, we get to see adult yijin as well smiling at the other end of the tunnel. As a way of saying, that they've moved on. Because we didnt exaclty see them 'move on', especially Yijin. He got the saddest ending of them all tbh. All in all, this drama truly is in my top 3. The happiness i felt watching these characters is uncomparable to any other character. But i probably wont ever rewatch and if i do, only till ep 13. Because the pain and emptiness this made me feel is something i'd rather forget

I think baekdo’s relationship broke because yijin kept making promises and broke them. I dont think it fell apart that easily since we saw that heedo endured it at first. Shes a resilient person but of course she can only take the disappointment so far.
Also another thing is why baekdo cant remain friends is because… obviously it’ll become painfully awkward for them. Some exes stay friends but in this case they were so intimate in the past they probably found it difficult to keep a platonic relationship.
And yes i was also sad when the group drifted apart, but it happens most of the time irl… though if you want a good drama with friendship i recommend hospital playlist:)

People call it a sad ending because this isn’t what everyone was hoping for. To me, I don’t consider this as sad ending, it’s just not a perfect ending that we all hoped for, just like most of the relationships we had during high school/university years. I think this drama perfectly portrays the reality of most young relationships. It makes me feels nostalgic as I am from the same generation as these characters portrayed. One of the best dramas I’ve watched for sure.
If this is considered as a sad ending, then everyone love histories throughout their life are merely tragedies.
Agreed I don’t see this as sad ending its just sad reality but even though this drama speaks so much about how life goes on and how situations evolves us and in the end it’s the memories that stays forever. So live your life your youth to the fullest
Yeah tbh I see it as bittersweet rather than sad. They broke it off for the best and moved on. A sad ending is what happened in Weak Hero Class 1 tbh💀💀that was trauma

I feel like im part of the minority here, i'm actually satisfied with the ending. It has been pointed out in the beginning that the times will affect circumstances in life; they met because of the times (IMF), they broke apart because of the times as well (9/11 Event). The times will always be out of our control.
I understand everyone who was hoping to see both of them to end up together, but i honestly felt from the beginning how baek yi jin already had different ideals in life. His priority has always been to get his family together again, he worked his ass off and when good opportunities came at work, he didnt waver and will always take his chance to take the step to advance his career. This is what the times has shaped him to be, he had to be a grown up quickly because he had to.
I understand why people would say how the ending was so unlike of them since they have been always had a strong bond, but lets acknowledge that growing up/ adulting will hit you hard, change you, and will lead you to having different priorities in life than before; baek yi jin had to prioritize his career. Na hee do had to choose to be away from him because she doesnt deserve to be treated the same way her mother has been to her before.
It wasnt until the end that i realized baek yi jin has been having hints of mental health issues from the getgo, it was already there when he had to grow a pear from the tragedy of his family, it got worse when he progressed with his reporter stint. The 9/11 got to him real bad he started getting nightmares. When someone suffers from these, its more likely that personal relationships will also be affected. Its something that love alone cant resolve, thats why na hee do told him to get therapy when he needs to.
This has been a long post lol but i really liked the realistic ending. After this drama i will surely watch light hearted ones to ease the pain lol

I believe we are the silent majority! We're not as loud as those who were dissatisfied because we're all busy crying HAHAHAHAHA srsly, a lot loved the drama as a whole, even so with the beautifully heartbreaking ending.

totally agree! we always want an ending that fits our expectations but it doesn't always happen in real life, that's one of the things that makes the ending so realistic to me, I know things (in the end) happend quite fast comparing to the beginning of their relationship but sometimes (in real life) we don't realize it is the same way too. back yi Jin had mental health issues since the very beginning, he wasn't ok, it's so clear, he had priorities and needs that na hee do couldn't give him, doesn't matter how wonderful their relationship was, some stuff were hurting both of them and continue that way woul lead them into more pain. I really enjoy the point you made on yi Jin mental health cause I haven't seen anyone talking about it and it is such an important thing, and he showed really well in the show how sometimes we have struggles that aren't solved that we just "ignore" and try to move on to achieve our goals but are still affected by them, especially later when they come back stronger to torment us and not alone, cause at that point there are many other things that aren't solved that hurt us. the show was pretty realistic to me, how some unexpected events and how fast some stuff happen change everything in our lives. their story is beautiful, and it ended in a realistic way to me. I know being apart from friends hurt but it is so common when growing up and making your own paths. forget events that were so awesome at the time you thought they'd remain forever. breaking up with someone because the relationship is going great, it's hurting both people, and they should take care of themselves so it doesn't get worse. I would love to see them together at the end but again, not everything goes as we want and the way their relationship was going it was better that way. they have sweet memories and a great youth to remember, enjoying each moment they've had (and all their growing) is what matters at the end. this drama showed me how important it is to live, and don't waste any opportunity i have, doesn't matter what happens next.

I really hope the ending won't stop people from watching the drama. The Plot, the Cast, the Ost, the Cinematography, everything was so nice to watch. Same. This drama is beyond perfection regardless of the ending. One of the most highly recommended kdrama and so far, this also one of those dramas which encompasses a lot of lessons, realizations and takeaways you can relate with your reality.
same. i actually knew the ending before i watched the drama but decided to give it a watch after seeing another fan edit. i loved the drama so much and i have never felt this emotionally attached to characters… when i finished it i didn’t know what to do with my life… but if i was given a different ending i think i could peacefully move on haha

Listen this drama broke my fucking heart but it also taught me so much. First, always love passionately. Second, don’t take anything for granted. Third, anything you give up doesn’t mean you never wanted it with all your might at one point in your life. Therefore every new beginning comes with a difficult end. Fourth, nothing lasts forever, that’s why we appreciate what we have when it’s there. Lastly, cheers to new beginnings, this life is yours, be confident in your decisions even if it hurts like hell. I don't know sometimes it is worth a shoot. I dated and the married my best friend. Thanks to that I can carry a bit of my youth with me for my life. One message that I got from this series as well as How I meet your mother is that the price of growing up is the separation. Soon we will all far apart from each other. All my dearest friends, no matter how I miss them but my job bring me half world away from them.
i think what the story is trying to convey is that not everything is going to work out like a picture perfect story. it happens and its okay! sometimes we need to be glad that it happened rather than be sad that it ended :D

This drama hurt me more than any melodramas out there with a sad ending 😭😭 It's the only drama where both are alive but couldn't make it, knowing that they still love each other but just can't make it work hurts so much 💔💔😭. The writer is so cruel to give us that kind of ending 😤😭

I still think they have sad ending because Hee Do's love was not big enough. For BYJ he has no choice of moving a head. His family all depend on him. But HD does not has just much of stress.
@@hanhnguyen84 Heedo just got tired, yijin was like his mom throughout her childhood. We might not understand it well but its already too much for her to feel the same thing again and add that even she got to talk to yijin while their apart, she cant feel yijin anymore. She can only feel yijin's pain and tried to comfort and support him but it doesn't reach yijin anymore because all the negative feelings that his work give ate him. Hee do just couldn't do anything about it, and yijin too.
I'm glad I didn't know the ending ahead of time. Had I known, I probably wouldn't have watched it and would've missed out on one of the best dramas ever made and easily my top fave. We saw five friends grow and experienced youth again. As tragic and bittersweet the ending was, everyone did what was best for them. Forever my BeakDo couple.

Thats true, despite the most heartbreaking ending. This has become one of the best kdramas ive ever watched. The only reason why people felt outrage by the ending is because theyre so invested with the storyline and character build up. And that just show you how great the drama is.
From me i figure it out the ending since the first episode .. because her daughter's first name is kim and his first name is beck .. so that was a point that they wouldn't end up together .. second when her daughter read her diary normally she wouldn't be surprised about someone who's her father .. so pretty much the ending for me was too obvious that they won't end up together .. so i stopped watching it cuz i know i'll end up crying at the end .. guess what my calculations turned out to be true .. i really wished for another happy ending T-T
In fact, it is not a sad ending of the movie, it’s an open ending, but, personally it’s a sad one, which i accepted and appreciated. If it is a happy ending, the movie will obviously lose its value and main goal at the beginning. In addition, it is a success for Yi Jin and Hee Do since they prevented their first love as a complete one which i and many others can not. That would defenitely be the best love story, it’s not a longest but a complete one. Tho it is sad and difficult we, still, should know where to stop.

I totally agree with you! Most romance movies and kdramas only end at the main leads finally get together. But this kdrama shows how a relationship changes after the main leads get together, which is a very good lesson indeed for us, though it's heartbreaking🥺❤
Agree! It's an open ending but they wrapped the drama so beautifully. It's kinda hard for me at first to accept the fact that it's not fully explained, like who Heedo eventually got married with, but I think it's a good enough ending. It's beautiful knowing they realized how much they mean to each other that they can't just end the relationship with a fight. Wondering why people hate the ending so much... some even went to the extent of calling it THE worst ending, and some even critizing the actors for choosing such drama.

But then i read i news basically saying " sometimes ending in separation is the best ending." and the main purpose of the drama at first was to remind us of our first love through hee do and yi jin journey and their respectful yet beautiful ending
It will be an easier open ending if the part where present heedo went back to do the closure with yijin is cut.
If the drama manages to pull your heartstring, make you laugh and cry while watching them, that just a proof what a great drama it was. So no one can denies that 2521 has been all of that.
I’ve been thinking of this song when the drama ended….it was a bittersweet ending after all. It was worth it witnessing HeeDo and YiJin’s genuine love for each other. We all know it won’t work for them they have different priorities that time and good for them choosing to end it in good terms, they will just hurt each other and blame each other if they chose to continue…… I’m crying again tf!

For me, the only way to describe it is 'Heartbreakingly Beautiful'. It took a while for me to understand why they took such a decision and I realised that they decided to break because they love each other too much to let it turn into something else altogether. They meant too much to each other. At the end of the day, Yi Jin is incapable of unloading his burdens on Hee Do and Hee Do feels helpless and lonely watching him deal with all that pain by himself. A relationship just cannot work out that way. A part of me appreciates how real this drama is. And another part of me is so heartbroken because I wanted them to have a lifetime of happiness and laughter.
I couldn't agree more it's heartbreaking to see but taking a deeper analysis into it it was purley their love for eachother that created that mutual decision

I am mourning for their relationship like it’s my own.. but despite the ending I still think this is the most beautiful drama I’ve ever seen. Made me laugh, smile, cry, and feel more emotions than I have in a long time.
Just like most i am reeling, shocked, mad, broken hearted with the ending.. until today i feel like Im going thru a breakup... but the more i think about it, the more i accept the ending, when Hee Do and Yi Jin met, and started their friendship they always rooted for each other. When they finally got together it was so natural, so loving so true... but their hurdles were not as simple as we think... continue and fighting for their relationship would mean... 1. HEE DO will have to spend another life time feeling let down like how she felt with her Mother, Yi Jin didnt wanna break up, he wanted Hee do to try to understand... but maybe he realized he loves Hee do that much that he has to let her go... 2. YI JIN wouldn't have a chance to fulfill his dream (which hee do knew, remember? "they were heartaches for me, but my mom made you dream. Thats kind of nice in itself") he wanted to succeed in his career to be able to bring his family back together. Hee do wanted to support that without Yi Jin having to always apologize to her. Rooting for each other has always been the theme of their relationship... when they met they were nobodys, their relationship gave them so much if you really look back. My only complain is that the notes they left for each other… they were so beautiful and so touching full of positivity and pure love about the relationship they were about to leave behind… I just wish they were able to say it to each other personally before they went their separate ways... not 15 years after, thats what i feel like they didn’t deserve. @kimtaeri_official @skawngur you portrayed Hee Do and Yi Jin so perfectly. Thank you so much!!🤍🤍🤍 “The result was brilliant and the process was beautiful” the ending didnt feel brilliant to us who was rooting for them so badly but their relationship was still beautiful even in heartbreak.

I haven’t seen a better explanation!!! ♥️ The point where you said Yi-Jin had to let go of Hee-do coz he loved her a lot also comes from when he read her diary and saw how much she was going through alone. That’s why in the end when he hugs her near the bus stand he says “let’s not put each other through anymore hard times” because he knew that if they stayed together, it would be more hard times than good times as they would be so far apart. Plus the 41 year old Hee-do didn’t regret the break-up, she regretted that fight at the tunnel before the break-up. Because she said to her mum that breaking up was the right thing but not the way it happened when she was in the hospital. Hence knowing that Ye-Jin knew her true thoughts freed her from that regret and gave her the final closure.
Finished watching this drama and I would say one must watch this drama weither they agree to the ending or not. You will feel as if u r experiencing everything these characters are going through. The joy , happiness, fun,pain , struggle, confusion. You will feel alive with them. I'm sure everyone will relate to them. As for the ending I would say tht yu rim also had similar situation like hee do when she went to Russia but ended up marrying ji Woong. Becoz they both didn't gave up. I feel bad for both Yijin and Heedo. They had such a beautiful bond shud not hav ended like this. But it got emotionally exhausted, Hee do had felt tht lonelyness and the feeling of waiting and being disappointed always through her mother...she didn't wanted to hv a future like tht and she has done the right thing for herself. Back yijin didn't wanted to give up on her...but the life he chose for himself would just keep him feeling sorry all the time to Heedo. He had seen already seen a lot coz of bankruptcy..wht happened was gud at tht moment for them. All I wanted from the ending was to show tht they moved on.

i still can't get over the fact the writer ruined their relationship that fast, the ending could have been so much better, them being honest with each other and understanding what they were going through, just like when they were just friends. Even though I hated the last 2 episodes (mostly ep16), this will forever be one of my favorite dramas, everything else was just so beautiful, the finale can't drag what 14 episodes built in my heart.
Ikr. They built their relationship since Yi Jin was 22 and Hee Do, 18, so mostly likely they are together for 3 years before 25,21. It’s weird how Yi Jin’s unavailability and loss of hope became something that break them apart. It’s also never Yi Jin’s fault. He volunteered to move away from Sports Dept to be with Hee Do because she insisted of being in a relationship with him. Yi Jin is fine when they are friends when he confessed to her. It’s only Hee Do who make the initiative to start a relationship and also the first to break up with him just because of lack of time, misunderstanding, and her past issues with her mom. It’s just ridiculous. Their separation coz of Yi Jin being in NY is not even a year too long. Yes, they missed the major holidays, but hey, relationship doesn’t always mean togetherness. Yi Jin also have a point on not wanting to bring Hee Do down with him with his problems and nightmares. Although he should have, it’s understandable why he didn’t. It’s only Hee Do who let go first especially when she was asked during new Year if she have a bf. That’s just too selfish.
Also, why does Yi Jin have to be “excluded” from their friendship group when they broke up. It’s not his fault. Also, he is the one who helped all of them big time.
But in any case, since that’s how the story ends, I’m just glad Yi Jin fulfilled his promise of reuniting his whole family back and how Hee Do’s mom got to like him too. He deserve such love.

But we must also for Hee do she did it alone too if not for Yi Jin she wouldve done it all alone. I could relate to her tho she always thought she was not her moms first priority she never thought she would be that for Yi jin the person who claims to love her the most. And that broke her. Even she couldve waited for a year for him but they already grew so apart.

To those who didn't watched till the end, you wouldn't hurt more when watching this video. No matter how the drama hurts our expectations, I'm grateful that it exist. The drama ended when Na HeeDo's diary ended too, the drama was a bit harsh but it taught us reality. The drama reflects the image of reality where sometimes, we don't end up to our greatest love but we are thankful that they became part of our journey and shape us to the person who's waiting in our destination. It's just a timing.
It killed me how this song so profoundly enhanced the suffering and the pain of hee do and yi jin separating. I genuinely hoped for hee do and yi jin to work things out because the kind of comfort and peace they found in each other is so rare. I get it that for a relationship to work out, one needs a lot more than love but hee do and yi jin had been through such tough times too. Honestly, i still think they could have been together if they had still held on to each other. They had love for each other in their eyes till the very last moment of them being together. They deserved a better ending. They deserved each other. Not trying to criticize the show, or the ending, or anything, this is just my view point upon them breaking away from each other. This is my favorite drama yet.
I think this love story is one of the best and most well written i've seen in any drama. The ending is incredibly mature and just shows how beautiful life really is, even if things don't go as "planned", there is always happy memories to cherish and carry on with ourselves.
BYJ's love for NHD is so pure and unconditional. I hope meeting this kind of man in the future with a happy ending. :D
This drama is so realistic to watch that's why it hurts so much. All the moments they spent together, ups and down, from the moment when Yi Jin was in the lowest point of his life, when Hee Do faces challenges because of her passion in fencing, everything was beautiful. When they've been together as a couple, they were PERFECT and that's the problem, because there's no existing PERFECT RELATIONSHIP, we all need to have someone who will complete us and someone we can complete. If they continue their relationship, it will grow into toxic relationship and ruin them. There's nothing wrong with them tbh, its just that, they're not meant to be.

Honestly, if anyone told me it would've ended this way I wouldn't have watched it. With love comes hurt, something I've always known but this drama embossed it in my chest. Sometimes letting go of a person and letting them fulfill their dreams without trying to hold them by force is the highest indicator of love. This is the most beautiful story I've ever seen, I can't stop thinking and falling in love with them more and more. It's tragic, it hurts, but it's such an incredible show of respect for each other when you understand that you need to develop, grow, that your dreams are different. The most difficult and correct step will be to let go of a person. I experienced a similar story in my life, so I understand them...
I like to think that maybe if they met at an older age they could still end up together, younger people find it impossible to wait 10 years for somebody ... when you are older you know it is difficult to find someone that cares this way again, some opportunities come once in a life time. Sometimes you will choose a distant loving partner than lonliness ... I hoped that they will end up together, that such support and memories will not go to waste. It is been long time since i watched something that moved me to the extent of leaving a comment. It was a good watch.

heedo has already been traumatised for her mother always being absent and it left a mark on her, yijin worked in the US for good and it was just not shown so it means he would be away from heedo for a long time, breaking up was the best choice they had at the time
i think because yijin had already made promises that wasnt fulfilled and he already knew that heedo is already disappointed in him. it's also something yijin cannot control. he doesn't know what might happen in the future that is why he did not dare to make any promise to heedo anymore to not risk further disappointment.
This drama is just so nostalgic. It made me reflect my life. It reminded me of a friend i haven't met for 4 years now. It made me miss my highschool years. It was a sad ending for me cause it made me realize that I've also lost some of my loved ones in this journey of life.

honestly i love the ending eventhough fee sad for the epilogue. This couple will always be my favorite one. Wishing they can reunite in romcom drama because the chemistry just overflowing.

I my opinion I think that they shouldn't end up like this, the way they ended the relationship shouldn't be like that. And the way she says in ending:"it was all illusion" it hurt me deeply. I didn't like the end but its one of my favorite Kdrama. I wouldn't re-watch to suffer how I suffered. I cried all day cause I couldn't believe they were not together anymore..
This is by far one of my favourite kdrama. Such a beautifully written story about a love so pure it hurts that they didn't get together. But that's life and it seems the writer may have wanted to portray that not all love stories, no matter how great, finish with a happy ending.
One of the many things I enjoyed about this drama was watching Hi Jin find a friend who brought him happiness and then just looking at his eyes and emotions on his face(yes he's a great actor) you see intrigue turn to admiration then to adoration to fondness then love. I found it very refreshing how Hi Jin restrained himself from letting his feelings loose on hee do and waiting till such a time that she much older before attempting anything.
I think it's safe to say the writer really succeeded in drawing us into this story so much that the ending pulled at our heartstrings. We want more stories like this.

To be honest I loved the ending, it was Na Heedo's first love, FIRST LOVE IS VERY MESSY. Her mom was a reporter and that caused her to be absent in the family, and I don't blame her for not wanting to repeat that. Yi-jin was going through a really rough time and I don't blame him for choosing that position, people trusted him in New york. With all that 911 stuff happening they prob really felt comfortable with him there, (REMEMBER THE LETTERS HE GOT??) I don't blame anyone in the realtionship THEY JUST WEREN'T MEANT TO BE, AND THATS REALITY. I JUST WISH WE GOT TO FIND OUT HOW BACK YI-JIN WAS DOING, AND WHAT HAPPENS TO NA HEEDO'S HUSBAND. This drama made me feel so good and so understood at the same time. in the last episodes i related with na heedo a lot. like wayyyyy to much. i'm in a relationship right now but we only meet once in a month or not. we arent even in a long distance relationship. he's working. and i'm going to school as an architecture student. i dont have much time to meet too but if he asks to meet i can always try to make some free time for him. but he never asks. we don't even speak on phone these last weeks. sometimes i feel like i'm in a platonic relationship. i feel like he won't ever text me if i don't text him. he's always apologizing for these things like baek yijin did on ep 15. i feel like we are going separate even more everyday. that's why i related to heedo so much. i really cried so much. hoped the best for them

After I completed this drama I couldn’t sleep for straight two days . It’s funny but I was not able to stop thinking about these two . But few days later I have realised that happy ending doesn’t always mean to be together , it can also mean to be happy in your individual life with happy memories of each other. The thing that I have learnt from this drama is that sometimes the people you wanted as a part of your story , are only meant to be chapter . You should not bound people with you when things between you and that person starts getting worse . I have realised that it’s better to end that kind of things that are becoming toxic , so that we’ll have only good memories to remember.

Well, i cried so much watching this! For real, every episode i was crying, as soon as I got in the final part i cried what I haven't cried in the last year. To be honest, when two ppl want they can make it. I think they were exhausted for fighting their relationship but they haven't fought enough. At least they could be still friends or get in touch, but separate them in a brutal way after they have been together after a long time is not fair. I hurt me cause she says, when she is already an adult, that in that time, all she cared about was love and friendship and it was illusion, was a shot in my head. They really loved each other but destiny didn't help. One of my favorites kdramas, otherwise I won't rewatch it, i can't, it still hurts me. I saw something on the internet and remembered them: " I close you here, my love, and I close what we were, because the universe needs to forgive those who didn't work out. I leave this space of numb chest and closed mouth. I leave here wanting to scream in pain, but aware that we were what we had to be, in the most human and inexhaustible way possible. Life needs to help us move on when we can't anymore. You never thought you'd love someone who writes, and I never thought I'd fall love with someone who could fly. You could." Finally, let's cry.
Okay, let's forget about the sadness of the moment, the breakup. Both followed their paths, their lives forward. So from a more optimistic perspective, in my opinion ''the 1'' of the same genius Taylor Swift would be perfect for them. I have not seen and I have looked for an edit of their story along with that song and it would really fit them so well. In the end we see that Hee Do remembers that relationship fondly, although we do not see Yi Jin, I am sure that they both remember and treasure that relationship with affection and at some point they will have started to think what would have happened if it had been different for them and that they would have loved for them to be the one... seriously, that song fits them much more than All too well, in my opinion. I seriously want an edit with them and that song, PLEASEEEE! Someone make it happen!!!

I actually liked the ending. Because it is the reality . Yes, we watch kdramas so that it can give us some relaxation. But sometimes we can learn from them too. TFTO is one of them. They both love each other but they have their priorities in life. He wanted his family to survived and Heedo need the attention of yejin. It's really better not to see each other so to go on with their priorities in life. It's very good story and it's happening in some stories of life. It's full of lesson and values of life. it might be a sad ending to their love but the relationship that they have will always be special for both of them. No one can take that away from them no matter who they marry and end up spending the rest of their life with. It was a realistic ending. Sometimes the first person u fell in love with doesnt end up being that one for u and thats ok. As long as u can end a relationship with positivity and happiness and always remember what they gave u. That is Na Heedo and Baek Yijin’s relationship and i love them for that.

I was avoiding watching this video because I didn't want to feel the heartbreak again but I finally gave in and my heart still hurts;; this made me cry and 2521 is such a good drama that breaks my heart every time I think about it..

awwww, I still cried after watching the video. At first, I was not also in favor of how the drama ended but as the days went by, I realized that they so much loved each other and just wanted happiness for each other. And staying out of the relationship was the only way to preserve that happiness.
I only knew happy or sad ending before I watched this, but this ending is just beautifully bittersweet. Yijin didnt have any choice but to step up in his career for his family as IMF has taken it from him, Heedo chose to break the traumatic cycle she has with her mom (so proud of her). I know it seems unfair when in the end Heedo married a person who's always on business trip but that reflects growth on her part, she couldn't do that with Yijin but finally learned to accept that not every relationship is perfect, and perhaps she has learned a way to adapt to the absence of loved ones instead of holding resentment like she did with her mom. That said, it's sad that we don't get to see how Yijin moved on from this relationship.
Jiwoong, Yurim and Seungwan all have light-hearted ending, which is comforting and makes it much easier to watch the last two eps. It ended beautifully and so realistic to point that I wanted to scream to whoever wrote this that this is just a show, you did not have to make it so realistic, just give us hope and keep Beakdo together. There's a saying in Vietnam that goes those who have held your hands at the age 17 won't be there with you forever and this show beautifully captured it, the struggle of beinng new to adulthood and the youthfully fun aspect of it. Heedo as a teen learning to love someone whole-heartely without thinking about consequences and as an adult realizing that nothing lasts forever but still cherish that part of her life when she jumped into what/who she loves head first, without thinking of how it'll end. Yijin has always been more realistic because of how life was for him but still get the courage to fall weak for Heedo as a young adult, knowing the concerns that would appear by being together but still went for it. We wished to see adult Heedo and Yijin at the end scence smiling at each other but I think the interview they did after her San Francisco tournament was that moment for us. No bad blood, just ones that who were in love showing respect and support for each other.
I know this has been a long post but this is my only way of coping for the pain that this show caused me. I've lost something in me when I finished the show, would totally reccommend this but I would never watch it again, this show breaks me more than any relationship I've had.

i saw this video in my recommendations like about a month ago and it's what made me start watching the drama. i just finished it about an hour ago and i'm still really sad but i wanted to thank you because this was the push i needed to watch it. despite all the sadness it brought me i don't regret it. i hadn't watched your video then because i didn't want spoilers but... because of the song i figured there wouldn't be a happy ending so your video helped me prepare. it also made me feel not as disappointed as other fans were about the finale. i think it was a brilliant realistic drama about first loves, friendships and the passions of our youth. thank you again for this video.

Hands down to the best kdrama of 2022. I miss BAEKDO so muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch and kuddos to the edits, this video made me cry.
Didnt like the ending at all.. but after sometime, after some posts ive read, it made me realize that "realistically" not all your pasts will be in your future. Ok. But what really really bothered me was it was their first major fight and they just gave up. Which i still believe is out of character, becos every little that lead up to their relationship development, they have been understanding and hanging on and giving each other chances. So yes, the ending is a bit hard to digest for me.
I agree. I can't even feel sadness, only frustration when I finished it. The later episodes were so frustrating to watch, especially their decision-making. It's so weird that they didn't try to make it work. It's so out of character for the both of them.

This drama isn't only about love .It portrays friendship in a true sense..it is true that the ending gave me a heartache but that is what makes this drama sp special.And from the last interview it is clear that both of them have moved on happily without any regrets.The little smile in their faces during the interview shows that they both remember the good times and they are both happy at present with their lives.For me this drama is 10/10 where at the end they all stick to the practical.

This was a really memorable drama - the look of love and loss in her eyes was really good acting. I've known a number of high school sweethearts who've gotten together later in life, and wish they could have had an ending like that, but the final scene was beautifully done - just perfect.
