I agree entirely with your views about the awful and wilful deterioration of our rivers and streams. Growing up beside the Oxfordshire Thames we swam and rowed with no care for our health at all. Today I would not dip my toe in the river. Thank you for continuing to show case the glorious Cotswolds, I love your peaceful, pastoral meanders around places old and, to me, new.

It is really beautiful village Sir Robin..and right weather making it more beautiful. No wonder it is called St. Dennis, it is related to French Priory..of which St Dennis came from. If I were Cotswold tourist I would choose this as first destination..thank you for walking us here
I wonder if the oak tree at the crossroads was planted as part of the “Plant a Tree for 73, plant one more for 74” campaign? I lived just outside Coln (the ‘St Dennis’ was hardly ever used) in the 1960s/70s and, during the school holidays, my brother and I took part in this campaign - which was very popular in the area. What a shame that the arrival of the M40 so distorted the social demographic of the area. Now, it is stuffed with rich Londoners looking for the rural idyl. I was warned not to return to Eastington, where the housing is all for new-money outside people - I was told I would find it too upsetting!. Northleach may have been hazardous when the A40 went through it, but Mr Edwards the Ironmonger, and Mr and Mrs Grayson at the Cotswold Stores, Mr Hughes the Butcher, were real people serving a real, working, community.
Ooh, you gave me an idea! You could film stories for many years to be let out at regular intervals even after you are a ghost. You could feature in your own ghost stories!😁 But please, don't become one any time soon!❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I find the state of the church in Coln St Dennis quite saddening; it's a remarkable piece of history, but sadly has been left to rot. There is serious damage to much of the structure, and damp visible on all the walls, especially in the wetter winter months. I hope there can be some fundraising for repairs and gentle restoration work. And I firmly agree on the condition of the waterways. It is beyond scandal. It is criminal, and its effects will be felt for decades to come, and be witnessed by children who will grow up never knowing of how these places should be. The pastoral landscape of the region unfortunately hides a contempt for the natural world, and much of the region's nature has simply vanished in the past 20 years.
