there are four different diode removal options. One of the four will open them all. The other the diode configurations will only open a specific band. However! You only have the choice of one configuration. The configuration shown in the video opens them all. By
a little rough on the camera work but thank you so much for making this vid. Please keep at it You clearly have the knowledge and you'll get better at the video too.
Thank you for your input. My wife was holding the camera so I could work with my hands. Hopefully I’ll get a solid camera soon just for UA-cam videos. Maybe a GoPro.
It was a accidental reflex. I cringed after I said it and thought about editing it out lol. Band edge notifications! I can’t remember right off hand. I actually moved across country last May and still haven’t unpacked my radios yet. I can power it up this weekend and give you a definitive answer.
Do you still get an audio signal when going out of band? Before mod, when you go out of band you get a beep indicating that you can't transmit. After the mod, do you still get the beep when you go out of an approved HAM band?
@@tonyj5712 it opened mine too , but when I transmit , I have really high SWR. I used the same antenna on another radio and it works fine. Do you have the same problem ?
@@bdcswhatuneed it's ok , I sorted it out , the reason I had high swr was because the antenna was close to a wall in my testing, once I've put it on the car, it was around 1 , perfect !
@@bdcswhatuneed hi thanks yep need the 4 meter band as the 7100 i brought back from usa does not have it on . 70 mhz would be good. i have worked with smd when i was test repair for a mobile phone company before i retired so still got the skills . thanks
Jeezum Crow! Four years already. Time flys! Good job.
I did the removal of diode 6316 and it worked 😊👍 it opened up 11m and 70cm
Nice video - When using a propane soldering iron make sure the exhaust is not facing the PCB - can do some serious damage.
You should see what it does to a vehicle's plastic dash 😮
what power wattage are you getting on 151mhz and 465mhz?
So you could remove one set of diodes for one option? I wish hou could just easily select which diodes to emulate or remove to have all the options.
The diode removed in this video opens all the bands.
Maybe I misheard.

Is there a difference in function if you do it yourself vs ordering mars mod from HRO when you purchase the radio from them?
No sir. It’s the exact same mod.
I love how you HAM id'd on Murs lol which is just vhf CB basically haha
Good video though glad it worked out! Do you lose band edge notifications?

Outstanding

You can set those beeps and TX lockout in the RT systems programmer
do you know if this mod opened the transmit on the 11 band , the CB band. I’m planning on using this in my car, so it would be nice to have it. Thanks
It opened mine up on 27 megahertz

Do you have a tuner connected? What kind of antenna are you using?

After this mod, can your radio TX on 5.3MHz, 27MHz, 70MHz & 409MHz ?

ALSO WHY NOT CHECK IT ON HIGHER VHF AND ALSO ON UHF AND OTHER HF FREQ'S ,
Correct MURS Frequencies
151.820 MHz
151.880 MHz
151.940 MHz
154.570 MHz
154.600 MHz
Not sure what frequency you were on but it was not MURS....
You did at 3:29 mark
Is the rf output power lower on the gmrs frequencies vs the UHF Ham frequencies after the mod? ie is it still 35W output on GMRS?
Still the same output on VHF UHF
hi nice vid . question does this mod do for activating 4 meters
Yes, modifies to 400-470mhz

what happen to your power ,, you neeed to check power out
Not sure what you mean. I wasn’t having any power issues.
HOW COME THE RADIO DID NOT SHOW SWR , POWER LEVEL OR DID YOU CHECK IT ON ANTENNA OR DUMMY LOAD
You should not use your amateur call on a freq. that
Is not a ham freq.you are known as out of band that is a no no.!!
You are correct. It’s was purely incidental as it’s a force of habit.
